The team at Commonwealth Contracting was an absolute pleasure to work with during our complete kitchen remodel on our 1950s home in Avondale. They were professional, on time and on budget. We had met with 6 other contractors before Commonwealth and as soon as Mike came to our home, we knew he was the right fit for the job. His calm disposition and professionalism helped to make this remodel less stressful. He was also very fair on his pricing and set realistic timing expectations. The entire project was completed within 7 weeks and we are 100% satisfied with the results. They did a complete kitchen demo, removed a wall and installed a beam to open up the dining room to the kitchen. They also refinished our hardwood floors throughout the house and instaled new hardwood to match in the kitchen. Our 70 year old floors have new life and look brand new!Overall the entire experience was amazing and all of our neighbors can’t believe how quickly we were able to get this project complete. Our new kitchen is the highlight of our home and we enjoy it every day.We highly recommend Mike & Commonwealth Contracting. -

This is a long overdue review. We worked with Commonwealth in September of 2022 to remodel our master bathroom. The owner/operator, Mike, is a breeze to work with. Mike and his foreman/project manager, Nick, were very knowledgeable, professional, thorough, responsive, and made sure we were always updated on their progress. We just sold our house and nearly everyone who toured it commented on the beautiful master bath. We are, in fact, about to use Commonwealth again for a different project.Their prices are also very competitive. So very pleased with their work. Thank you, Mike & Nick! -

They made the loving room of my dreams by swapping out 1986 original windows for a beautiful French door. Our home is complete with this renovation and we could not have been happier with the service and quality Commonwealth Contracting provided. We will certainly be using them for our future renovations and would recommend then to any homeowner who wants the work done right! -

Commonwealth put in new large woodlook tile in our downstairs. Our engineered hardwoods were in bad shape after years of dog accidents, poor original builder install, plus it was on a slab that had settled. Mike was very communicative through the whole process and helped us make good choices on materials so the floors would be dog proof and look great for years. We couldnt be happier with the results, and highly recommend Mike and his team! -

We purchased an old brick ranch in Charleston in 2019 with the plan to do a complete renovation. We interviewed contractors that had been recommended by friends, and decided to include Commonwealth because of their impressive online reviews. After speaking with Mike, we felt confident that Commonwealth was the right company to manage our long distance renovation.Once work started we were amazed to see the progress each week. Before we knew it, the kitchen and bathrooms were demolished, walls taken down, beams up, etc. The crew worked very fast and efficiently. If any unexpected conditions arose, Mike explained and provided pricing before any additional work was done. There were no surprise charges at the end. Everything was very up-front and honest. The house turned out great and we were very happy with the whole process, start to finish. We absolutely would recommend Commonwealth and will definitely use them again in the future. -

Mike and Nick oversaw the remodel of our master bathroom. Everything was taken out and new product installed. We couldnt be happier with the attention to detail and quality of work. They, and the various teams working on our project, were extremely courteous and professional. We will happily re-engage them for any future projects we might undertake. -

Mike has an exceptional team of professionals who excel at their craft! His project manager, Nick, is exceptionally good at coordinating the work being done and exceeded our expectations going into this project. This was a major renovation of our master bathroom that required a great deal of attention to detail. We were made aware of all of the work to be done in advance, and with few exceptions, their timeline was spot on and the project was completed as expected. We greatly appreciate the personal touch and expertise that Mike, Nick and their team brought into our home and highly recommend them to anyone. -

We used Mike and his team for our master bath remodel, and we’re very happy with the whole outcome and experience! They have excellent communication skills, and kept us in the loop the whole way through. The guys who worked on our larger master shower were meticulous when laying out the tile. We were happy there were no unexpected costs along the way, and our final expense was just as Mike had given us on our estimate. We will definitely use them again for any future projects. -

We were referred to Commonwealth Construction from a family member. We contacted Mike and in two days he showed up to see the scope of work. After we received the quote he said he would have it done in six weeks, and he DID!We had our lower Level changed into a game room with reconstruction to the whole lower level, reconstruction of a bathroom, kitchen, all new electrical, demo of all the drywall walls and ceiling and repainted ceiling, floors and walls. We also added a full bath and bedroom to the upper level.Mike and Ben communicated the progress along the way, that was very important to us as we were 15 hours away. They far exceeded our expectations and were easy to work with. They did many upgrades to our original quote, they all revolved around safety- I really appreciated that. They were also detailed oriented and very clean!I would highly recommend Commonwealth Construction, I believe you get what you pay for and they delivered!!!! -
Review 10 (2020-07-22 - Rating: 5)
Our family decided to hire the Commonwealth construction team because they were the only contractor of many to visit our home who brought out individuals to give a true idea of the cost of the project. They were great to work with throughout our six month renovation. We really loved the construction manager, framer, tile installer, and wood floor installer. This was a massive project with costs exceeding $200,000. Our home had some leakage and hidden mold from the previous owners negligence. There were many unknowns about the full damage until the team broke down the walls and could really see the damage. In the end, our 1948 Avondale home has all new electrical, plumbing, large beams, brand new kitchen (expanded outward), two remolded bathrooms, an indoor laundry room (whoot, whoot) and an art/office space. Mike kept the project running and progress was always happening. We had a couple of glitches due to a hurricane coming through and some extreme slowness from the county (I would highly suggest going to the city before a project if possible), but Mike And Ben contacted me regarding all delays and solved them in a timely manner. Luckily, Mike and his team worked hard so we could get in right before Christmas. I really appreciated the effort, so Santa could visit our home. I will definitely hire Commonwealth again and will refer to all my friends. As long as you have an opened mind and understand that the construction process will always have surprises I think you will enjoy having Mike and his team complete your project. -
Review 11 (2024-07-10 - Rating: 5)
Mike did an exceptional job remodeling my kitchen. This included removing a load-bearing wall, re-routing the electrical and plumbing that were in the wall, some demo of a pantry/closet, and putting it all back together. He was really easy to work with, and met the schedule and price estimate that was discussed up-front with me.His foreman, Nick, is great as well. Really good at keeping me informed along each step of the process and just a Jack of all trades who took care of all the coordination of issues. I highly recommend them. They know what they’re doing, hire very competent subcontractors, and make sure everything is done correctly. -

They did a fantastic job replacing our deck. They identified problems in the original construction with the pilings and materials and ensured that the new deck will be more stable last significantly longer than our original. They did a great job of staying on budget and schedule, finishing on time and with no major surprises. Highly recommended for any work you need on your own home. -

We researched several contractors before starting our home addition project and Commonwealth Contracting stood out from the beginning. From planning to completion of the project, Mike and the guys were very professional and their quality of workmanship was outstanding. The highest compliment of a home addition is when the neighbors stop by to say it looks like its been there all along. Highly recommend them! -

Commonwealth did a great job with our kitchen and powder room remodel! The trades they used were very professional and really cared about the quality of their work. Mike and Katherine responded quickly to questions and requests and were great to work with! Would definitely use them again on future projects -
Review 15 (2019-09-08 - Rating: 5)
I have used Commonwealth Contracting for multiple projects at two different homes. They completed a beautiful kitchen remodel and upgrade that included removing a wall, upgrading appliances, cabinets, and counter tops, as well as new flooring (matching existing hardwood), and finish work (before and after pictures below). They also completely renovated a detached garage including new electric, siding, roofing, insulation, and adding A/C. The work was 2nd to none, and Commonwealth made the process so easy. They communicated frequently and effectively and really explained the details to help make the decision making process easier. The owner, Mike, was able to get all the subcontractors there on time and complete the projects on budget and on time. After my wife and I decided to sell our old home, Commonwealth was the first place I went when I wanted to do some renovations at our new home. Even though the work at the two homes was several years apart, Mike and the Commonwealth team were just as engaged and professional as they were before, providing a consistently top notch service and product. I highly recommend them for anyone that has a mid to large scale project that needs to be done right! -

This company was recommended to me and they were the best folks to work with. I had a small bathroom completely remodeled and they did an amazing job. I also had a guest bedroom freshened up, crown molding put up, popcorn removed and the room painted. It looks so good. Everyone was professional and worked nonstop. I can’t say enough about this company. Will use them again and highly recommend Commonwealth Contracting. -

I needed to add a bathroom and utility area, but did not want to increase a footprint of the house and decided to incorporate my carport into a living area. It allowed me to save on roofing and foundation, but created certain logistical difficulties in the project. Mike and his crew have creatively addressed all the issues which allowed me to maximize the living area while still being compliant with all the building codes. Work on the project was well planned and performed according to the schedule. In fact it took longer to wait for building permit from the county than the project itself. I also wanted to point out that Mike possesses a rare quality for contractor, he is very punctual and responsive. He had returned all my calls/e-mails within a day and had addressed all my concerns or requests in a timely manner. It was a pleasure to work with Mike and his crew and I would hire them for my next project without hesitation. -
Review 18 (2024-01-25 - Rating: 5)
Kitchen and partial garage remodel about 1.5 years ago gave our home a complete upgrade. The whole team from demo to finishing touches did a great job. Mike even checked up on us a couple months ago to see how the work was holding up and I mentioned something I had noticed wearing more quickly than I thought it should. Mike immediately set up some time with his experts and they agreed with my assessment. They set up time to take care of the issue and everything is absolutely wonderful. We really appreciated that Mike cared about how his team’s work was lasting and making sure it was right, even over a year later. -

We were looking to add an addition to and remodel a good portion of our home. We began the daunting task of searching out a contractor. My wife and I met with Mike Eippert at Commonwealth Contracting. We were impressed with his attention to detail and the passion he has for his projects. It was a no brainer to go with his company. We are so happy to have had the privilege of working with Mike and Katherine on this project. For the duration of the project, everything was explained in a clear and transparent manner. Their knowledge and experience were a great help with several design aspects of this work. For example, we never would have selected the grout color that we went with for our master bathroom on our own, but we are IN LOVE with outcome! There were some hiccups along the way, which is to be expected while undergoing a project of this size. However, these hiccups were handled in a timely and professional manner. Communication on all aspects of our project were key to its successful outcome. We 100% recommend Commonwealth to anyone that wants quality work performed in a timely manner. Thank you Mike & Kathrine!!From,Jason & Bevin Turner -

Mike and his team did a fantastic job with my garage renovation. I had them convert our one car garage into a bedroom with onsuite bath and it turned out really well. They were responsive and transparent about costs and I never felt like I couldnt get answers to my questions. I would hire them in a heartbeat for other projects . Shout out to Nick their foreman who went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. -

I hired commonwealth to renovate our bathroom and laundry room. This company went above and beyond. They were so helpful with the design process and picking out different materials. Their crew that demoed and installed everything was seriously the best I’ve ever seen, and I’m a contractor myself. The attention detail, the work ethic and professionalism was something you don’t see very often. The project manager was on top of everything, making sure we were happy and knew what was going on all the time. Great communication. The finished product is stunning. Turned out better than we imagined. Overall great experience and would definitely hire them again! -

Our experience with Commonwealth was outstanding. Mike and his crew not only produced quality work, but they did everything on time. Communication was easy and clear and we felt like everyone was on the same page through the entire project. Commonwealth will be our first call for any contracting services we may need in the future. -

I have worked with Commonwealth Contracting for several small jobs and most recently a large job renovating my kitchen and laundry room with cost approximately at $150,000.Mike is simply the very best contractor and in general a really great guy. He always responded to me very quickly and even took my calls while he was on vacation with his wife!!His staff is amazing, so professional, neat, clean and on time. We actually miss seeing some of them. If I could give Mike more than five stars I absolutely would. I have heard horror stories from friends and neighbors regarding their experiences with contractors. When I detailed my experience with Commonwealth Contracting they were surprised and I was asked to share his contact information. Several of my friends contacted Mike and worked with him too. All were very happy and thanked me for the recommendation.I feel very blessed to have worked with Mike and his team and would never consider going elsewhere. Look no further, save yourself a lot of aggravation, Mike is your guy. You will not be sorry. -
Review 27 (2019-03-28 - Rating: 5)
The level of communication and workmanship from Mike and is team is superior! They are a well oiled machine. Every subcontractor was polite and considerate and arrived when they said they would. The quality of all the work was impeccable! This was a huge project with cost upwards of $150,000 with a lot of moving parts and a lot of subcontractors that had to be coordinated. We enclosed a 40 long deck and renovated a kitchen. The projected entailed engineering and opening up the entire back of the house and enclosing a deck. Mike kept the project flowing and progress was always happening. We had a couple of minor glitches that were out of Mikes control with reference to the city scheduling inspection and material delay and I appreciated Mike contacting me immediately instead of avoiding what could have been an uncomfortable conversation. I really appreciated him tackling any issues head on and get them resolved. He was in full communication from start to finish! He truly has the customers happiness as his first priority. I will definitely hire Commonwealth again and will refer to all my friends. You will not be disappointed! -
Review 28 (2019-07-26 - Rating: 5)
Commonwealth Contracting will always be our first choice for home renovation projects. This is the 3rd time we have worked with Mike and his team. Originally, Commonwealth was hired to completely renovate (down to the studs) our 2 bedroom condo at The Albemarle. They did an amazing job with coordinating all of the sub-contractors and ensuring all of the work was the highest quality.During that renovation, our house on the harbor had some ground level flooding, following one of the hurricanes that impacted Charleston. Mike assembled the right team to conduct the necessary sheet rock demolition, clean-up, and all repairs. Commonwealth did a much better job than Service Master had done in previous occurrences and we couldnt have been more pleased! They were timely, responsive, and very quick to finish the work, which was greatly appreciated. When we decided to purchase another home on James Island and sell the condo, we immediately contacted Mike. This job included a complete master bath renovation, building a large deck with stairs all around in the back of the house, repairing / buffing all hardwood floors, running the natural gas line to the deck for a fire table, running electricity to the outdoor shed, adjusting exterior doors, sheet rock repair, following the sound system installation, replacing older kitchen fixtures and installing new ones.Mike and his team are excellent in communicating progress and any challenges, as they occur along the way. Commonwealths prices are very fair and the quality of his teams work is exceptional. I will gladly recommend Commonwealth Contracting to everyone I know.! -
Review 29 (2019-09-30 - Rating: 5)
Really great work! The team was fantastic, very neat, every night before they left they completely cleaned up so we never felt like we living in a construction zone. The guys were very conscious of my two dogs. The work was very well done and they made sure we were completely happy. When the first set of doors were not exactly what we had in mind they returned them and got what we wanted. After all the work was done, I decided that I wanted a wooden, not metal transition between the tile and carpet. Mike sent a guy back to put in what I had requested for no extra charge. Great bunch of professionals, you will not be sorry. I had other cheaper estimates for the work, but Im glad I went with Commonwealth, the quality is very good. You get what you pay for.Description of work:Expanded our laundry closet to fit the new bigger machines. Added additional flooring, outlets. -

We have used Mike & his team for two major house projects. First, we had a dishwasher leak & ended up having to gut our kitchen. They did an amazing kitchen renovation for us!A few years later, they re-did our shower from a gut job. They leveled our tub, installed backer board, waterproofed, installed updated plumbing, installed tile and grouted the tile. It went great - because of our tile choice, it took longer than expected, but the guys worked with us. They addressed all concerns and answers all of our questions. We highly recommend Mike and his team for any project in your house! -
Review 32 (2019-07-18 - Rating: 5)
In May we contracted with Mike at Commonwealth Contracting to renovate our kitchen. Having hired Mike on two previous occasions to do repairs at our home, we were confident this was the right company for us.The job included replacing all kitchen cabinets, installing granite countertops, backsplash, new sinks and faucets in kitchen and wet bar, installing new appliances, refinishing and repairing wood floor, and painting. In addition our laundry area was reconfigured to better accommodate our washer and dryer. All crews on this project were great and a pleasure to work with - always leaving the work site cleaned up at the end of the day.Whenever we had a question or needed to talk with Mike or Ben they were prompt in getting back with us.The kitchen renovation met all our expectations and we will definitely hire this company again. -

We have used Commonwealth Contracting twice for our home at KiawahIsland and both times we were thrilled with the results. Our neighbor had recommended them, and after meeting with several contractors, we chose Mike Eippert with Commonwealth for the job. Our first renovation was updating all our existing baths, and adding a new roof. Most recently we renovated and opened up our kitchen as well as added beams and framed in the ceiling of our family room. Everything they did from tile work, roofing, sheet rock, electrical, hardwoods, painting, and cabinetry was wonderful. Mike and his team are extremely professional, upfront in discussing any issues so that problems do not occur, prompt to start construction and on schedule to complete. Not being at our residence during the construction, we trusted them to take excellent care of our home, and our minds were always at ease knowing that they would. Our furnishings were protected or moved, dust was kept to a minimum, and once we returned things were as we had left, back in their places, and our home looked and served us like a new house! We would definitely use Commonwealth Contracting again, and highly recommend them . -

Mike and his team are truly the best. They built a beautiful garage with a second story office for us and impressed us every step of the way with being true to time projections, excellent at communication, and delivering a high quality build. I recommend them to everyone. They are the real deal. -

We hired Mike the first time about 6 years ago when we were renovating our downtown townhouse from the top to the bottom. We were doing the reno from afar & Mike & his crew made this process seem-less and the job came out incredible! This year we moved into a new home that needed plenty of renovations... we needed to renovate the master bedroom & bathroom, a guest bathroom, a pantry/laundry room plus a few odd & end jobs. Without hesitation we called Mike back again & we couldnt be happier! His right hand man Ben was fantastic at communication as well. We always felt like we knew what was going on which was comforting. His subs are fantastic & polite! Now that it is all complete... I can say that we couldnt be any happier!! -

Mike and his team renovated the first floor of our 1950s home, including an entire kitchen project. They were honest, respectful, clean, on-time, and did great work. Will be using them again for additional projects! -
Review 37 (2021-11-01 - Rating: 5)
Our project consisted of renovating our garage into an office space/bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. The subcontractors Mike utilized were excellent. Our project was around $80,000 and everything came in on time and within budget. The project was completed in a timely manner and even as we wanted changes throughout the project Mike was able accommodate. I will use Mike and his team again for our next upcoming renovation. -
Review 38 (2021-08-18 - Rating: 4)
Commonwealth Contracting did an upgrade on my kitchen. I would have rated them 5-stars except for the fact that their cabinet subcontractor made several errors which required rework and didnt maximize the usable space in some pullouts they fabricated for my existing cabinets. Katherine was a tremendous help to me in making decisions about the design of the changes and she did a great job of keeping me informed of which subs would be here when. All of the workers were polite and worked efficiently and the job was done on schedule! Mike actually caught some poor workmanship (that I had missed) by the cabinet subcontractor when the job was finished and paid for. He made the subcontractor come back and do the rework. I would definitely use Commonwealth Contracting again and would highly recommend them. -
Review 39 (2019-08-03 - Rating: 5)
With this review I am representing the more modest investor--this project was a significant investment for me, but probably a small job for Commonwealth. About half of the work was infrastructure—not glamorous, but critically important. This priority work was completed on time and without issue. For the interior improvements Mike patiently advised on the selection of materials and adjustments to scope that enabled me to accomplish my objectives with a tight budget. Commonwealth was on time and on task every step of the way, even during Christmas holidays! I was very impressed with the quality of the subs, who were all professional and respectful. We particularly enjoyed having Ben around to guide the day-to-day progress. Thank you, Mike! -

We hired Mike to do a major repair and renovation of our home requiring the entire kitchen, subfloor, and support framing to be taken out and rebuilt, removal of a 20 foot loadbearing wall, complete rebuild of the subfloor structure, piers added etc. etc. Mike and his team did a fantastic job, were extremely professional, and delivered on time. Any issues or concerns were immediately remedied to my satisfaction and we never had any of the typical arguments you come to expect when hiring a contractor. For once, I actually feel like I got what I paid for and have no regrets. I strongly recommend Commonwealth Contracting for any construction projects, large or small. -

Commonwealth Contracting undertook a project to convert two rooms into a bathroom and bedroom in my home. The work was completed while remaining in my home with a number of different skilled craftsmen. Each individual craftsman crew was very professional, courteous, and timely and produced a product to be proud of.Mike Eippert and his crew coordinator, Ben Brewer, went the extra mile to inform me of the day to day schedule, coordinate parts delivery, and address any problems which arose during the construction. As with any project of this nature, I requested some modifications & additions during the course of the project & they were addressed promptly and professionally at a reasonable cost. From the beginning to end, the planning & execution process was smooth, the price was reasonable, and the final product enhanced my living spaces.I would recommend Mike and Commonwealth Contracting to anyone looking for a small or large construction or remodeling project because he and his crews acted as much like partners as contractors!Mark Jordan1 South Hampton DriveCharleston, SC 29407 -
Review 42 (2019-09-29 - Rating: 5)
I could not have asked for a better outcome. We discovered one small tile in the border area to one of the bathrooms that was too high, causing pain to anyone walking on it with bare feet. When I contacted the company, they ensured that someone would be there the next morning to fix the tile, and they were right on time. These are some of the most polite and knowledgeable workmen that I have hired for renovations. I felt the price was a bit high, considering that we provided the tile and grout. But, since I had worked with this company in the past, it felt that it would be money well-spent. No regretsThis was the second time I have used this company to handle remodeling for our beach condo. The first project involved replacement of tile in three areas of the unit - a long hallway entrance, a dining room, and the kitchen area. All appliances were removed as needed (washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc.) to remove and replace the existing tile with updated tile. In addition, all items (furniture, electronics, etc.) were removed from the living room area to avoid dust accumulation. The workers ALWAYS arrived on time and finished the project on schedule. They are pleasant to work with, and the project leader provided valuable input on handling tile transitions from room to room and in doorways to the 4 bedrooms. -

We are very pleased with the results of our project. The project encountered many unforeseen issues as old bathroom fixtures, kitchen cabinets and floors were taken out, however Mike had excellent solutions for every problem encountered and the additional charges to correct the unforeseen issues were very reasonable.Description of work:Whole 1960s era house remodeled, bathroom, kitchen, hardwood floors, new doors, foam insulation on roof, new HVAC, new lighting, and complete interior painting. -

Mike and the crews at Commonwealth Contractors deliver a quality product, with strong communication and accountability. Their team took on some pretty severe termite damage for me in a home downtown Charleston and did a great job structurally, matched the cement plank, and exterior paint color match as well. If you want a job done right, and want to be sure the contractor is going to listen to your concerns and deliver, give Mike a shot -

I converted a tub/shower combination into a walk-in shower and working with Commonwealth Contracting made it so easy. From estimate through construction and follow-up they were absolutely professional. This was a small project but I felt I received the same level of service as the large renovation projects. Mike and his team are knowledgeable, friendly and great to work with. -

We had massive water damage underneath our house, due to poorly-installed HVAC ducts that had been sweating against our subfloors for several years (Id be happy to share the name of that contractor too, if anyone is interested). The damage was not covered by insurance, so budget was a big factor. Still, it was important that the job be done right.I bid the job out to about five or six companies and selected Commonwealth for a couple of reasons. First, Mikes recommendations included no short cuts. He did not suggest that we could lower costs by making compromises here or there -- he said, to do it right, heres what we have to do. Second, he was scrupulously honest. When we were talking about possible insurance claims, he made it clear that he would not misrepresent the extent or cause of the damage in order to get a larger claim. That told me a lot about his integrity.Basically, we went down to dirt in parts of the house and had to rebuild from the ground up: Installed 12 new foundation piers, replaced structural beams under the house, did fungus remediation in the crawlspace, demolished and replaced subfloors, demoed and replaced heart pine flooring, and refinished pine and oak floors throughout the house. The biggest part of the job was in the kitchen, which had to be completely demolished and rebuilt. When Mikes original counter/cabinet guy came in too high, he found another one that was able to work within our budget and did beautiful work. We took advantage of the opportunity to knock a wall out of our galley kitchen and replace it with a really big granite peninsula. It completely changed the entire space. I wish Id done it years ago.All of his subs were fantastic. We stayed in the house during the entirety of the project, which was probably 3.5 months (not sure Id do that again), and they all left the site very clean every day, even sealing up the holes in the subfloor with plywood. The only sub I was not 100 percent happy with was his floor guys, who I think finished the floors in sections rather than all at once, but Mike sent them back and insisted that they would keep coming back until I was satisfied. The job took longer than we originally projected, but this job seemed to grow as we went along. Near the end of the job, we discovered a leak in the roof that meant more demo/drywall work and a new roof – all of which Mike arranged.Bottom line, Commonwealth did a super job. Honest, good work ethic, no shortcuts, high quality-- the job will be done right, at a competitive rate. We were very satisfied. Id use them again in a heartbeat. -

The job was scheduled to start on April 21st, however, a site they were working had a structural issue develop and they called to let me know and the work on my site began on the 25th. as rescheduled. They began each day on time and ended later than usual if necessary. They sealed their work area to ensure the dust and debris didnt get into my living area during their work time. I was impressed with the quality of work done. The staff paid attention to detail and made sure everything met my satisfaction. I was pleased with the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. They were very cognizant of the fact that they were in a persons home and were very polite and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that I hear needs work done.Description of work:They removed three layers of old flooring and the particle board that was damaged due to a leak in my kitchen, breakfast nook and utility room. They replaced the particle board with plywood and the exact flooring I had down originally. I was so glad they were able to get the exact flooring because it was very durable and I loved it. They replaced all doors, baseboards and shoe molding. They touched up all areas with paint that needed it. They also had to replace some insulation under my house that was damaged. They did this at no additional cost. They are a top not company. -

Commonwealth Contracting have used my company Charleston Cabinetry & Countertops to do a number of kitchen cabinet projects and as the owner of CCC I am most impressed with the work I have seen from Commonwealth Contracting. They keep a clean job site and take pride in their work. Mike is honest and he has a very good crew. -

This was a job that I needed done very quickly and Commonwealth came in and did a fast and very professional job. Mike Eipperts team was great and communicated everything, like the rotted subfloors which were not a part of the original job. Just to give you an idea, we had an estimate from another contractor (minus a few bells and whistles) of $48,000 (which included his supervisory fees of slightly over $19,000). That was my introduction to general contracting so it was very reassuring to meet Mike Eippert with Commonwealth. I would recommend him and hire him again in a second.Description of work:Removed 2 walls (1 of which was load-bearing) and replaced with LVL beams; framed a new bathroom / closet combo; replaced rotted subfloors in preparation for new hardwood floor installation; moved 2 ventilation ducts and added a 3rd. -

This is the second renovation that they have done to our house. The first was a room above our garage to create home studio and now a complete renovation of our kitchen and floors in almost all of the living space. They did an amazing job - always on time, always clear on what was happening and when, always reliable. Highly recommended. -

Could not have been more pleased with our experience. The Commonwealth team completed a large home renovation for us. They were always responsive to questions during the project, and even after everything was completed! They were on time, from day to day work, and with the global project. Any delays out of their control were transparently communicated. They were on budget, and most importantly, the quality of work is superb. I could go on at length about our experience, and never run out of positive things to say. -

It went well. Its challenging to find someone to work on an old downtown house like mine but he worked with me on the budget and on doing what was needed.Description of work:They leveled my house, replaced subflooring with water damage, installed a sump pump, encapsulated the crawlspace and did some other work to shore up my home as well as replacing some of my windows. -

We contacted Mike when we couldn’t get a callback from our previously used contractor. He was responsive, easy to communicate with and his team did a great job of swapping the wood floor we had in our bathroom to a tile in a timely manner. We highly recommend them, and plan to use for any future projects -

Mike and his team at Commonwealth Contracting built an addition onto our home in Summerville SC to expand our kitchen/dining area as well as reconfigure our living room. The work involved all the expected trades - structural, electrical, plumbing, roofing, etc. The work was completed on schedule and on budget and the teams execution was a pleasure to experience! This review is a follow up to my earlier review and is driven by two things: 1) Its been over a year and a half since the work was completed, so I wanted to address how the work as held up over time, and 2) Mike actually reached out to us to make sure there havent been any issues with the work since it was completed that need addressed. Simply put: everything that was done has held up exceptionally well... we have had zero problems! And, as for the second, I think Mikes reaching out to check up on the works durability speaks volumes to the quality and dependability of the Commonwealth Contracting team. Thanks again Mike! -

Last fall (2021) we contracted with Mike at Commonwealth Contracting to renovate our main bathroom. This was our third project with Mike. His prior work confirmed our confident this was the right company for us.The work involved removing a tub, relocating the shower, adding two vanities and installing two recessed closet doors, and painting main bedroom and bath. New fixtures were installed throughout the project. Working closely with Mike’s crew was easy. If they could not answer our questions, Mike was easily available.Every trade was excellent and work was completed in our time frame.Six months later (winter 2022), we used Mike again to complete the second floor Jack and Jill bathroom. This project was on a tighter schedule but completed before our visiting family arrived. This project included replacing tub, installing two new vanities, new quartzite countertops, tiling shower/ tub area, and new tile floor. All plumbing fixtures and toilet were replaced. Walls painted and new lighting and mirrors. Any time we needed to call Mike with questions or issues to be addressed he always responded promptly and made sure all was as it should be. He certainly cares about his customer and takes pride in his work. We highly recommend Commonwealth contracting with Mike. -

We shopped around for a contractor for several months before choosing Commonwealth contracting. The owner Mike and I just clicked from our first meeting forward. Both Mike and his site manager Ben are fantastic. Their accessibility and response time was very surprising. Anytime I had a question or concern I could contact either one of them and get an immediate response. We did a full home remodel, right down to the studs with all new plumbing, electrical, kitchen, baths, etc. I cannot express how easy Mike and his team made this monumental undertaking. Not only was the team professional, accessible, and easy to work with, it was actually fun and interesting to not only watch but also learn and participate in the various stages of the process.Pricing seems in line with other contractors in the area and Mike was able to work with me throughout the whole process when small changes were needed and/or wanted.I would definitely recommend Commonwealth contracting to others and I plan on using them again in the near future for a deck project. -

Mike and his team at Commonwealth did a fantastic job on our home addition / renovation. His up-front consultation, ongoing communication, and post-project follow-ups were outstanding and really made the whole process feel stress free. We added a master bedroom, master bathroom, screened-in porch, and additional living space. This entire project was completed while we were living in the home (not to mention with a newborn baby)! I was very impressed with his team’s ability to make the process very comfortable and accommodating to our living situation. His sub-contractors were very skilled and professional, and the overall quality of work far exceeded my expectations. Mike did a great job getting in front of potential issues along the way and over-communicating with me to ensure there were no delays, additional costs, etc. Mike is a very authentic and honest person to work with, and there’s no doubt I’ll be using him again for any sort of home related projects. You will not be disappointed! -

Mike and the Commonwealth Team have worked with my wife and I for the past 2 years, first with a complete renovation of our downtown Charleston home and most recently, a complete renovation of the exterior. We cant say enough about the quality of workmanship, communication and trust that they have built with us. Our primary residence is in Boston, and much of the work was done while we werent there to see it being completed - but Mike consistency kept us updated and abreast of the progress. Highly recommend! -
