    Our home inspector advised us to replace the electrical panel in our new home. We got quotes from several companies, but it was James at Northern Electric that stood out the most. Where other electricians came in and immediately started quoting big jobs, James helped reassure me that our current panel was working fine and how replacing it could benefit us in the long run. He presented a few options and send a no-pressure estimate for us to review.When it came time to do the work, James and his team arrived right on time and did all the work in a hassle-free and professional manner. They even left the place cleaner than they found it! To top everything off, though, we discovered an issue later that evening once everyone had left and settled in for the night. I sent James a quick message hoping he could come out the next morning and was absolutely thrilled when he dropped what he was doing and arrived at our house at 10:45 in the evening to take care of it. Now THAT is how you win a customer over!Thank you, James, and everyone at Northern Alliance for making this project as simple and pain-free as possible.

    James and his team were fantastic to work with, and I cant say enough good things about them! We hired Northern Alliance for a kitchen/dining room remodeling project, and he provided a number of suggestions along the way that really improved the usability of the space. His work is top quality, and whenever the team went home for the day, they left our house even cleaner than when they arrived! Id hire them again in a heartbeat for any future needs we have.

    We just moved into the area a little over a year ago, and since this is our forever home, we really wanted to find professionals that we could rely on in the coming years. We were not disappointed with James! He did two proposals for me, each was done via a video call which allowed me to not have to miss work hours which is great. The work was done in a timely manner and we were very pleased with the results.After the job was completed, I had a couple questions about potential future projects. James was kind enough to walk around the house and discuss options and ideas. He even talked me down on a panel upgrade that I thought I needed, so it was nice to see that he was willing to advise against projects that would cost me more money as they were not needed. I highly recommend James and we will be using him for all our electrician needs from here on out!

    James and the staff from Northern Alliance removed a chandelier, and replaced it with a new chandelier. They were responsive, professional, courteous, patient and thoughtful. They took their time to make sure that the job was properly done, including making sure that we had the right chain to support the weight of the chandelier. The installation went well, and we are thrilled with our new chandelier. They cleaned up well, and the crew worked together well. We will continue to use James and Northern Alliance Electric in the future, and we highly recommend this company.

    I got James contact information from a neighbor and again from my supervisor, and was really happy with his work. He came out the morning after I called for the consult, and we had our quote within a week. When he came to do the job, James and his apprentice were very friendly and helpful, and even amended their quote while on the job in order to take on some changes in my 1930s era house. He was quick to respond to emails and texts, and we will definitely give him a call when it comes time to do the next phase of the renovation on our house!

    James at Northern Alliance Electric just installed a new outlet with a new circuit breaker for us. Extremely pleased with the result. He was responsive, came out to give us a free quote (which not all companies will do!), scheduled the work quickly, and then executed the work well. He came within the time frames we discussed, and always called to give me a heads up with a more exact ETA when he was on the way. The work itself was clean and professional, and done at a reasonable rate. Will definitely use him again!

    It is so difficult to find competent professionals. James is extremely professional and highly competent. Last time, he hardwired cameras around the house (about 2 yrs ago) and recently helped with various lighting around the house. The kitchen lights I purchased from Amazon were not a great fit, but he was ready with this light-tape that installs under cabinets (no idea that was even available). This tape never even gets warm, provides a ton of light and looks amazing. Thank you James - we so appreciate knowing we can rely on you for a job always very well done.

    James was wonderful to work with! We were having problems with stray voltage on our farm and it was difficult trying to remedy the issue. James was very persistent and was able to get the problem solved and kept us informed as to what was going on through the entire process. The horses are drinking from the auto waterers again.     James Dowd is the best. My husband and I were in the process of selling our home, and needed a electrician to get everything up to code, and fixed. After numerous attempts to get a decent electrician, I was referred to James. James had great communication skills prior to his arrival. He was attentive, friendly, and trusting. He did an phenomenal job, and I highly recommend him.

    These are my go-to electricians - I wont use anyone else. The realtor who sold my home to us suggested Northern Alliance. James is wonderful and he and his staff do great work in addition to being lovely people. They went above and beyond for us coming up with ideas on how to add a switch for patio string lights since they were already adding a switch for a new outdoor fixture. I wish I had more work for them!

    James from Northern Electrical Alliance figured out how to save me thousands of dollars on the project I had in mind. I wasn’t disappointed. James and his friendly crew were on time, friendly, professional, and answered all of my questions. James upgraded my breaker box, ran tons of power to the far-away places I need it, and installed a generator interlock system so my house can stay warm and bright if the power goes out. I cannot recommend Norther Electrical Alliance more.

    We just had a substantial amount of electrical work done by master electrician, James Dowd of Northern Alliance Electric. He and his apprentices did a heavy up and indoor repair work which passed inspection immediately; I have only the best things to say about his professionalism and work ethic, and that of his crew. I also learned more from James about electric circuits, the types of switches and outlets needed, grounding the house, new circuit boards and breakers, and general lighting questions than Ive learned in all of my 6+ decades. James takes the time to explain what he is doing and to answer questions....he wants his customers to understand the tasks and to be happy with the work he does. I bet I have the neatest and safest circuit breaker wiring in all of Bethesda....he takes pride in his work.When it came to doing work throughout the house, he and his crew were courteous and considerate, wearing shoe covers to protect the carpet and wood floors and cleaning up meticulously after themselves.When James came to check out the job, he investigated and discussed issues none of the other electrical contractors brought up; as a result, there were no surprises at my end. His estimate was precise and easily understood. I knew the cost of everything in advance, and even knew the cost of alternative ways of doing a job should the least expensive way prove impossible.I removed tasks from our agreement after paying my deposit varied reasons and that did not create an issue for James at all. He was flexible, responsive to emails and calls, on time, organized and thoroughly prepared.I can tell you that his prices were the same as other contractors for standard items, such as changing switches, outlets and ceiling fixtures. He came in several hundred to a thousand less on the heavy up than all the other bids, of which I had many. This lowest estimate was not the selling point for me, however. I read reviews about his work and asked for a reference. I spoke with a homeowner for whom James had just completed a similar job and she was thrilled with his professional qualities and his workmanship; I can see why. James will be our go-to electrician from now on.

    After meeting with multiple electricians we met James and knew he was the guy for our job. Excellent communication, excellent team, and overall just a great experience. We live in a cooperative (GHI) which makes logistics a little more difficult and he overcame them with no issue.     We recently used an electrician - James from Northern Alliance Electric, who was also referred to us by a neighbor.James did a ton of work for us – landscape lighting, replaced our foyer chandelier, front porch light, light switches, and 3 other light fixtures. He was easy to work with, friendly, provided a very reasonable quote, prompt, and completed the work timely. He also worked with an apprentice to speed up the job. We’ll definitely use him again.

    I can’t begin to say enough good things about James. He redid the electric in a house we were buying when we were still across the country in Texas. He took care of it exactly when we asked, answered all of my (5,000) questions, and explained things so I could understand. When he was doing the work he saw a plumbing issue and because we weren’t there yet, made me aware and then found us a plumber to fix it! Every step of the way he has stayed accessible to us for questions (even long after the job was done) and has gone far beyond our expectations. His pricing is excellent and his work is even better. I am SO thankful we were lucky enough to be connected with him. You will absolutely not regret using him for whatever work you need done!

    Hired these folks for a heavy up on my new house. They showed up on time and did a beautiful professional looking job and finished sooner than they said they would.     Wow! This company responded quick, had excellent communication, showed up when they said they would, and then stayed all day to do a job outside, in the heat, until it was done. Great job and amazing customer service. And they know how to do outdoors/barn work, enclosing all wiring in proper pipes, using all weather outlets, etc. Best electrical work and company Ive ever seen. And fast! They didnt stop for a second until the work was done. Truly impressive.

    A year ago I hired an electrician to put up cameras, security lights, and motion lights all around my house. It cost a couple thousand dollars and the work was not done right. Nothing worked properly and when I called to let the owner he kept sending people who didn’t know what they were doing and were not fixing the problems. Unfortunately this company did not stand behind their work. It was very frustrating, disappointing, and a terrible waste of money.Since I had to hire another company to redo the work that I just had done one year ago, I had to be very careful.A friend and neighbor who lives on my street were putting a big addition on their house and I happened to know the contractor they were using. I have seen his work in several friend’s homes and his work is impeccable. The people who work for him are the best at their craft, very professional, and pleasant to have in your home. When putting on an addition or remodeling it is usually very stressful. But the people who use this contractor all rave about him and his crew.Northern Alliance Electric was doing the electrical work. I contacted the James, the owner of that company and he came over to see what I needed done. Upon meeting him I had a lot of confidence that he would fix things for me. He did not disappoint!! In fact James went above and beyond what I expected. He fixed everything to perfection. He also recommended that I get a WiFi booster, for the cameras. I got one from Amazon and he set it up for me. He also installed a fixture in my upstairs hallway and replaced the lights above my stove. My husband had tried to do the lights over the stove but it turned out to be more complicated than he expected. We are very happy with all this work. We were also very happy that his prices were so very fair. He is such a nice person.We have more lighting to be done outside the front the house for decor and inside as well. After we redo our driveway and get new front doors this fall we will have James come back.Bt the way, one week after doing the work… James texted me to be sure everything was working properly.I am writing this review in appreciation for everything James did for us. He truly deserves everyone’s trust. He knows what he is doing and he is a really nice guy.

    James and his small business are a delight to work with. He takes clear pride in his work. He is honest and transparent. He takes the time to explain to you the work he is going to do, how he does it, other options, and then shows you at the end as well. He even shows you with the voltage calculator for newly installed outlets and takes the time to make sure all the screws are facing the same direction on switch plates. He is about the small details. He is always on time and leaves our house cleaner (shoe covers, tarps, and sweeping) than when he arrived. We have been using him for 4 years and cannot say enough good things about him. He is one of our favorite service providers!

    I highly recommend James. Hes done work at my house 3 times. The first time James came out at short notice to rewire a hot water heater that had been incorrectly installed by the previous home owner. Rewiring the hot water heater was required by the mortgage lender before I could close on the house. James was so responsive that I hired him again to install 2 new ceiling fans and fix a number of other badly wired switches and outlets. Recently, one of the new ceiling fans stopped working, and James came out to troubleshoot - no fee.

    Once again, Northern Alliance Electric far exceeded our expectations for electrical work.I first heard about and used Northern Alliance Electric last year in April 2021. They installed some wireless light switches, changed out a few light fixtures, installed cover plates and moved miscellaneous wires and boxes that were electrical hazards around our home. James Dowd really listened to what our electrical complaints were and provided constructive feedback to us on how to take care of our electrical needs. I knew that the next time I had major electrical work done to our home, I would give them a call.Well, I called Northern Alliance Electric again this fall and, sure enough, they did a FANTASTIC job on my home. This time, we threw everything at them except the kitchen sink. We replaced the front and garage door exterior lights, replaced the dining room chandelier fixture with one we shipped from, installed a new kitchen vent to vent into front porch soffit ceiling, installed a second switch box above switch/plug left of sink, installed motion sensor light in closets, added dimmer switches and recess lights in home office and gym, replaced the bathroom exhaust fan cover and motor, installed motion sensor switch and relocated a box in the garage attic, rerouted and extended attic wiring to make more space, installed motion sensor switch in garage and more. Wow…what a great job they did!!!James and his team at Northern Alliance Eclectic were extremely professional. They arrived at our house right on time at 8:30 in the morning and, after doing a quick walkthrough, started working immediately. He and his team kept us informed throughout the day and even offered suggestions on the best way to accomplish our electrical needs. They covered floors and countertop areas with plastic and kept debris down to a minimum. They also did a great job cleaning up at afterwards. By the end of the day, it felt almost as if we had a new home with all the electrical improvements!This is why I would ever highly recommend Northern Alliance Eclectic for any and all electrical needs.
