We had a great experiencing working with Michael and Rising Earth. They were responsive, did high quality work in a challenging setting (pre-1890 townhouse with lots of quirks), and came in on budget and on time! We really appreciated that they were able to save some original windows for us, which we thought couldnt be salvaged. They look beautiful, and we were so glad not to have to send them to the landfill and replace them with vinyl and plastic. Rising Earth also did new wood floors for us (including leveling a very wobbly/concave pre-1890s pine floor with plywood before putting down locally harvested red oak, which came out beautifully and is still looking great 1+ year in). They also installed new windows for us where the old ones werent worth keeping, and that worked out well too. While working on those projects (which, as mentioned, were completed in a timely matter and on budget!) Michael also came up with a creative solution for a space-saving issue we were having with the location of appliances/flow in the kitchen. He was able to do a quick renovation that involved dry wall cutting and rebuilding part of a wall, and it came out great too, and really improved the layout of our kitchen. Overall a great experience, and the extra commitment to refurbishing and using high quality and local products was much appreciated too.

Earth Rising built a carport for us on a small urban lot. The design was unique as our intent was to install as many solar panels as possible on a south-facing roof section. ERNB Owner, Mike McDonough, is not only experienced in basic construction techniques but also a fine craftsman. He was very responsive to our questions and concerns and worked closely with us to ensure that all structural and aesthetic details were handled properly and to our satisfaction. Mike is comfortable working on both new and preexisting structures. He also built a deck for us integrating the new structure into an old porch that required stabilization. We would recommend his company to anyone seeking high quality construction.

Over the last 5 years, I have worked with Michael on a few projects, from installing clay floors in an existing structure, green roofs and timber framing. Working with him has been an easeful process and his knowledge, skills and ability for engagement in all phases of a project, is unique in the green building world. He is creative and proficient. He listens and thoughtfully incorporates input that has invited me to be a part of the process..a rarity in my experience. His calm demeanor creates a positive atmosphere where people feel engaged. I will be working with him again and have whole heartedly shared him with friends.

Rising Earth Builders constructed a fabulous Post and Beam carport for me. The structure was designed to support 21 solar panels and does that very well, in addition to looking great. They were responsive to my needs and very professional in their work.

He is very knowledgeable, generous without being overbearing, independent, self driven, and also works well with others. He has an agreeable personality with healthy boundaries and was adaptable to our vision and changes. I recommend him without reservation.
