    The crew did a great job installing the boiler. Project manager was very knowledgeable and explained things in detail about how the system works and how to adjust radiators. Neil Brown was very customer friendly and did excellent work. Thanks to the crew members who stayed till about 10pm just to finish the project after hours. The guy who chose to stay was one of the most knowledgeable as the other guys would always turn to him with questions that he knew. Hands down very good crew with halco. They went above and beyond. Thanks to you guys. Happy customer here.

    We really enjoyed dealing with Chris. He is very knowledgeable about HVAC, how to stop heat loss in your house and the program NYSERDA has. We never felt like he was trying to persuade us to do something we didn’t want to do yet was able to give us options of things that he considered would be good jobs to get done. We were extremely happy with his visit and the service he provided.

    Awesome day. Hard working team. Took the time to explain the how and why. Installed two vents for cross ventilation in my attic. End product looks like it always was there and belonged there. Guys cleaned up their entire mess inside and outside. Would recommend Halco to anyone that needs work completed. Worked nonstop, efficiently and as a team. I would have them again into my home.     We had a sewer backflow valve installed. The two Halco technicians were great. Don ran the excavator and Mike did most of the connections. They did it in time for the town inspector to check the work and were done by about 2 pm. Both technicians were pleasant to communicate with and seemed to care about doing quality work.

    Chris VanPelt came to service our old gas furnace to see why it wasnt kicking on the heat. Said from the rapid flash of indicator light that it was probably the circuit board. But tried to determine any other possible issues before replacing the more expensive part. Found a small section of a wire that the coating had worn off where wire sat along edge I a metal plate, that gave spark when he moved the wire. The fuse in the circuit board was also bad. He fixed the wire, and replaced the fuse, but it didnt fix the furnace. Guessed that the short cause the board to go bad. Replaced the board and ran tests to make sure everything was working. We signed up for the annual service, given the age of the furnace which saved money off the repair and probably come in handy since we dont currently have plans to replace the unit. Appreciate Chris finding and fixing everything he fixed. Was a pleasure to talk with about the unit and the repairs he was working on.

    Jacob, the solar service tech came to install the production/usage monitoring system today. Jake is personable and hard-working.... There was a delay on the appointment, but Jake called and gave me his ETA. His communication skills are excellent and he did a great job on the install. Very detailed oriented while working and he explained everything well. And what a great big smile too...you tell he loves his job!Thanks, Halco.

    Update: The customer service manager called after my negative review and offered an earlier availability. The technician Ed was great and did the work efficiently and perfectly! Looking forward to working with Halco in the future!We moved into a house that has a steam boiler installed by Halco but it hasn’t been serviced since installation (6 years). I made a service appointment more than a month in advance and called few days prior to confirm the appointment.On the day of the appointment, I received a phone call in the morning from Halco asking to reschedule due to a surge of emergency calls and their customers not having heat and hot water. While I understand emergency calls take precedence, my family is living without heat as well and have planned well in advance to make sure the boiler can be serviced so it’s safe to use. This is extreme frustrating and a very disappointing first impression.

They spent over 3 hours explaining details of Halcos capabilities with installation of solar panels, heat pumps and basement insulation---and made suggestions regarding window and roofing experts.     Tim from Halco installed a new water heater for me. He arrived at the scheduled time and took great care to be sure the new heater was installed properly and working well. He also provided clear instructions about how to operate the heater and regulate the water temperature. Also removed the old heater and left the area clean.     Dan and John from Halco have been very helpful with our new-to-us home. Its had some issues with venting and very clogged and poorly installed pipes. It would take forever for our kitchen sink to drain. They replace the piping and even fixed an issue with our bathtub at the same time. They are very good natured and always a pleasure to have them back. And were having Halco back again to replace our intermittently working sump pump.

    I have been using Halco for roughly 14 years for a myriad of needs. On 11/30/23 Don, Mike and Andrew were out at our office in Weedsport, NY. These guys were going at it all day and well into the evening. Our sewer line was down for several weeks and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the job they did. They worked very hard, troubleshooted problems on the run and got things up and running. They communicated with me throughout the process and kept me well informed. In addition, and I have found this about all Halco employees, is that I actually like the people I interact with. I really prefer to do business with people that I like and can work with and Halco has done an exemplary job fining workers who possess the needed technical skills but also have solid interpersonal skills. Don, Mike and Andrew did a great job….I have no complaints, and my only piece of advice is to keep up the great work.

    Andrew, Mike and Sam installed a new water heater at my condo today. It was not an easy job. Working in a crawl space had to be very difficult, at best. Complicating matters, they had to also remove two old heaters, as well. During the time they were working, they stayed on task, working together to complete the job in a professional manner.

    I needed my kitchen sink unclogged and my dishwasher was leaking down the basement wall,so I called Halco. I love how they take care of my furnace and the monthly agreement that is in place that just makes everything easier. Anyway, Halco sent me two gentlemen by the names of Dan and Dave who were absolutely fantastic. They were very personable and easy to talk to and ask questions and not made to feel like an idiot. At the same time, interacting with these guys was awesome. I was totally at ease with both gentlemen. They also made sure to respect my home and cleaned up any mess they may have made. I have to have more work done by them and will definitely be asking for Dan and Dave. I know for sure that the work will be done as good as what they did on my sink and disposal.     Very satisfied! Found water pouring into my basement from a broken pipe late on a Saturday afternoon. Called Halco who had a repairman at my house in a couple of hours. He was able to locate the broken pipe and repaired it despite it being in a precarious location. The repair guy was very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this business and will use them again in the future.

    Justin did an assessment of our home to see if it was suited for a mini split system. We currently heat with a wood stove and have electric baseboard heaters. We’re getting too old to keep up with the work of heating with wood and the baseboard heaters are expensive to use. We were very pleased when he put the fan in the doorway to check for air leaking into the house. The numbers were very favorable to have a mini split system installed. He told us we were approved for the grant to help us pay for the system. It will take a couple of months for the final approval to begin the install, but we’re looking forward to having this system. I’m also getting too old to put in and take out the window air conditioners. Thank you Justin. We look forward to working with Halco Energy.

    I contacted Cornell Cooperative about getting a free energy audit. I was contacted quickly and had the pleasure of meeting Todd from Halco. He was friendly, professional and thorough and explained the improvements he felt my home required to be more energy efficient. I’m about a month’s time, I was approved and scheduled. The three technicians who came to do the work were very good and efficient. I was required to leave the house while they did the blown in insulation so I ran errands and they called me when they were done to tell me what time it would be safe to return.Todd came back a week later to inspect the job and make sure everything had been done. Halco also supplied a list of 36 ways to save money with heating and cooling! I could not be more satisfied! Not only was everyone great, but through the grant and Halco, I saved close to $5000 and they replaced lightbulbs, put in a carbon monoxide detector, relocated the air intake valve for my furnace, replaced the dryer vent hose, replaced the furnace air filter and blew in insulation in the attic and the ceiling of the basement. My home is that much better! I’ve told so many people about this program!

They apologized, seemed sincere, shared how they planned to implement changes moving forward and provided me a discount for my inconvenience. I am pleased with the solution reached.I went with Halco because of great reviews. The end result was good but the means to get there were terrible. Told 4 days and it took 7. The extra time was not communicated to me until I got frustrated and asked. Crews were late most days and one time only showed up after I called and they were over 1.5 hours late. Crew 1 that did HVAC broke a candle, didn’t tell me and left broken glass from it behind my toilet. Crew 2 did no cleanup and left my basement a mess - furniture moved, debris everywhere, broken glass from a window left on the floor. When I communicated concerns I was told a generic I’m sorry and we’ll talk to them. Not satisfactory when you spend $12,000.

    I used Halco through NYSERDA to have insulation installed in my home based on recommendations from an energy audit. My house was built in 1950 and had little to no insulation. It’s too soon to know if it will help my energy usage, but logically any insulation is better than no insulation. I can say that I already notice a difference in that the “feel” of the temperature throughout the house is evened out compared to what it was. The installation went smoothly and they did an amazing job with cleaning up after they were done.

    National Grid has been doing work on my block, at a lackadaisical pace, with intermittent frequency, since April 3rd. Without notice some NG workers required and gained entry to my house. They discovered a problem with an exhaust duct, so they turned the gas off (very suddenly).I have tenants; the NG workers originally, and knowingly gained access to the house via a tenant without my knowledge, or consent. I was presented with a done deal; while there was a good safety reason to leave the gas shut off, due to the fact that I have tenants, thus must provide heat and hot water, among other things. So, this became an example of a Catch-22 because of an action taken by my tenant, suddenly the gas was turned off, but due to contractual obligations, I needed quick HVAC service, which I received. The service was also courteous, prompt, and thorough. I would recommend HALCO for these reasons.
