We recently bought our house, and today Geno came to clean out all the air ducts. He did a really fantastic job and explained everything he was doing and how all the heat runs and cold air returns work while pointing out certain quirks of the house. As a homeowner, its hard to know who to trust to give you the best service and be honest, but I feel very confident in Genos work and couldnt be more satisfied with the service he provided.As Geno worked, we had a washer delivered and installed and were told the water valves were leaking and needed fixing. Geno promptly offered to make a call to have a plumber from the same company come and take a look; Brian dropped by within a couple of hours and had it fixed in no time, and he also adjusted our water pressure.Geno and Brian are both so kind and friendly and went above and beyond in their work. I would 100% recommend them to anyone and will not hesitate to call Charles Heating for other services.

Eric W arrived at my home to install a new water heater. I was given an estimate and he said hed be back in a few days with the correct size (item needed was a smaller, thin model). I asked him a few questions about other plumbing issues and he could not have been more helpful or nicer. After looking over an old, brittle water line to the refrigerator he said he could replace it and move to spot that was easier to access when he installed the water heater. Within a week Eric and assistant took care of both issues for me. They were both great. Did an excellent job and cleaned up all debris. I would always recommend Charles, especially Eric and assistant!

He was punctual and walked me through each step of the service. He did a stellar job! Very professional and thorough. I have hired Charles twice now. First for HVAC/AC and recently for electrical work. I have been very happy with the work and especially happy with their people.The phone is always answered politely and quickly. The technicians have been so kind and pleasant. I’m a single woman so I’m somewhat wary of who is at my house but I’ve been completely at ease with Charles’ people.Special thank you to Matt and Alex who did my electrical work. They showed up right on time. Asked how I wanted things done and were very efficient. The work looks great and my garage is cleaner than when they got here.I have and will continue to recommend Charles to all my friends and neighbors!

We had an issue with our furnace. James S. Showed up right on time. It was late Friday afternoon and he still had a smile on his face, super nice guy! James made a quick diagnosis and was spot on. He made the repair quickly and stayed until the thermostat was back up to our desired temperature. This is my third time doing business with Charles, I don’t see a need to call anyone else. A few years ago, we bought a house that was built in 1991 – and in 2024 it still had the original furnace and air conditioning units. They still functioned, but my wife and I realized they probably werent very efficient and could go at any time, so we began searching for a qualified contractor to upgrade the systems.After reviewing all of our estimates, we chose Charles Heating – Air Conditioning – Plumbing and Electrical.The day of the installation, three well-qualified Charles technicians showed up, right on time, and began the installation process. We were told that Charles Heating had sent an extra technician just to make sure that the project would be finished in one day.The day before they did the installation I had extensively cleaned the work area as well as I could, but when they left, it was even cleaner than when they arrived.We would both recommend Charles to anyone in need of expert heating, air conditioning, plumbing or electrical work.

Jeremy and Matt installed a new air conditioner at my house today (and yes, it was snowing while they did so). They were both very knowledgeable and professional. The installation went perfectly and they had answers for any questions that I had. Ive used Charles Heating and Air Conditioning for my past few HVAC jobs and plan to continue to do so. To be honest Im not sure why anyone would use another company. From the initial phone call inquiring about their services, to scheduling the appointment, all the way through installation and billing it seems to be a well run company with great employees. Keep up the good work!

Charles heating and air is amazing! We had an issue that left us without heat. In the middle of a Syracuse winter, with two kiddos, that’s problematic. I called on Thursday to have someone give me an estimate. They came out asap, Friday morning, gave an estimate, and scheduled the install for Monday. They were able to beat that though and had Jeremy come out within an hour of the estimate. Jeremy was amazing, installed the new furnace, removed the old, fixed an issue we had with an exhaust pipe, and even changed the way the air filter fit into the unit to make it easier to remove. I could not recommend this company more highly. We will be a lifelong customer. Thank you to Jeremy and everyone at Charles!

Great job for quoting, scheduling, and installing a new AC unit on 10/18/24. The installation team (Dan, Jeremy, & Mike) was professional and competent in all respects. Special recognition to Dan for great customer management to explain aspects of the installation and also to install a thermostat in a difficult location. Also, nice job by Jim for quoting and scheduling the job and Jeremy & Mike for input about space constraints for a humidifier. In and out with no fuss or issue!

Great customer service and excellent work done! I had heat problems with my boiler and Jason came out and replaced the expansion tank. All seemed good but I had to have them come back a week later to bleed out another line. Dean came back to see what was wrong with one bedroom that was not getting heat.Dean figured out the problem and heat was circulating in the bedroom.Both technicians were very professional and took the time to explain what they had doneI would highly recommend Charles Plumbing and heating.I have used them for my service needs for over twenty years and will continue to call them for my air conditioning, plumbing and heating problems

Yesterday I required a warranty diagnostic for my furnace humidifier. My technician was Matt Helmer. He was excellent. Matt called me when he was in route to my home. I give 10 stars to Charles Heating! Gerald replaced our old hot water heater that was basically about to burst. Gerald was on time, friendly, respectful and made sure everything was perfect before he left my house. He went above and beyond with the replacement, he cleaned up any extra water and he even repaired some piping under my sink (out of pure kindness and professionalism)! I would recommend asking for Gerald if you want impeccable service. I will also recommend using the company to anyone who needs quick and reliable service. We have had folks from Charles coming to our home for over 10 years. This year was a little different, as Jayson and (a friendly newbie-in-training—Peter was his name, I believe) inspected our furnace with a scope-like camera to ensure our 30-year-old furnace was still safely operating. We appreciated that. After that, it was vacuumed well and got a new filter. And, like with any business, we appreciate the military discount. Highly recommend Charles & ask for Jayson! Oh and be sure you have carbon monoxide detectors in your home, in addition to smoke/fire alarms.

He was prompt, polite and explained everything about the workings of the furnace and what would happened if something was wrong with it. He cleaned it and checked the filter. Best of all he told me that the furnace was in good working order. Having the Membership with Charles is great. I get the furnace checked in the winter and the central air in the summer.

It was a smooth and quick process to have our new central air unit installed. The appointment to get an estimate was booked within a week and estimate was provided on-site at that time. I was pleased with the price (a lot less than a previous quote from another company 3 years ago) and they could complete the install within a couple of weeks. Our installers were Jeremy and Rick, and they were prompt, courteous, quick and quiet. My dogs didnt even realize they were here for a couple of hours. I am so glad we went with a local company with a trusted reputation.

KUDOS to Charles Heating for our recent HVAC installation! We are heating/cooling our insulated pole barn and put in 2 ductless split system units. It was a tricky and very involved installation. The work had to be done in 2 phases to work around other contractors doing the insulation and liner processes. The guys, John, Todd, Jeremy Matt, Johnathan......were super polite, efficient, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The Nice Guys finish first in my book! I woke up to a freezing cold house. The furnace stopped working in the middle of the night. I called them around 8 AM and they had a tech there by 930! The guys name was Matt H who came to house. He diagnosed and fixed the problem in short time. He was honest, and gave me a lot of good information, and recommendations on my furnace. I reached out to Charles Heating and Air to get a second opinion after being told that my furnace was damaged and I would need to spend thousands of dollars to have it replaced. Jayson called me before he arrived and was very positive and clear about what he would be doing and helping figure out the problem. Come to find out not even an hour after he arrived the only issue with my current furnace was that a pressure switch was stuck. He was able to fix it and have the heat working super easily and also saved me from getting scammed out of my money by another company. I’m beyond pleased with how this turned out and am extremely grateful for the honesty and kindness that I received with the service.

We contacted Charles Plumbing, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical a few days ago to see about getting a furnace duct cleaning done. The rental home we had just gotten back had a terribly foul smelling stench and when you turned on the furnace or A/C this smell emanated from the system. Charles sent a technician (Gino) out to do the duct cleaning. Because of the way the ducting was built, he was not able to attach his equipment properly to the duct work above and beside the furnace. However, he installed a device in the cold air return portion of the furnace that (he said) will clean and purify the air. He also went around with a heavy duty vacuum and vacuumed out all of the cold air return vents the the blowing vents also as much as he could. He installed a new filter and placed some air fresheners on the new filter that he said would help eliminate the odors. Because he was not able to fully clean the furnace as promised, we were charged much less than originally quoted for the job. I might add that because of the work that Geno did accomplish, by the end of the day, with the A/C running, the air was now completely acceptable and getting better all of the time. Geno worked very hard to do what he could do under less than ideal circumstances and we were extremely satisfied with the results. I would highly recommend Charles Heather, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical as much much better than expected professionals in their fields. Tom + Karen

*NEW EDIT*Charles- You saved me...again!As I was sifting through my holiday cashe in the basement last night, I noticed a pool of water- the result of a steady stream of water coming from my hot water heater. I did my usual and played Mrs. Fix-It, praying that it was an easy fix.I didnt sleep a wink. I stressed over how we would shower, wash dishes, ect. I worried the drop in temp would freeze the pipes. The sound of the trickling water metaphorically haunted me, even though I was 2 floors above the death of the unit below. I knew there was no easy fix- the unit was toast. But the thought of being without water for days just sent me into a panic. I called Charles at 7am, with a defeated desperation in my voice. I figured they would get someone out tomorrow, or maybe even the next day. The woman on the answering service was the exact opposite of me- calm, collected, reassuring and kind. She took the message and let me know someone would call be back.I realized this problem at 2am. Im writing this at 1:30pm and you know what I just did? Im writing this, still wrapped in my towel, because I just took a glorious, steamy hot shower- better than any Ive taken in my home in probably the last 6 years. The water didnt get cold...at all, and I didnt have to worry about anyone turning on a faucet or flushing a toilet and...I was incredibly greatful!My distress call, placed at 7am was returned in just 25 minutes and by 8:10am, Paul and Billy were here. I had already assumed I needed a whole new unit, and they confirmed that- quick. I wasnt upset, but I figured that these 50gal monsters werent just hanging out in the back of a truck, ready to go. I thought it would be a waiting game to track one down and get it here. As I started to make plans to shower elsewhere, they let me know they would be back in 25 minutes with the new unit. We know how it all turned out, because I gave away the ending already. This was truly unbelievable!About Paul and Billy-Oh man these guys are wonderful!Its gross, cold and wet outside, but they always put on booties when they came in the house (even though I told them not to worry about their shoes). They were polite and courteous the whole (short) time they were here.As Ive mentioned before, I like the trades and I like knowing what things are, why they go where and what they do. I know the last thing any skilled tradesman wants is an annoying fly hanging over their shoulder, asking questions galore, but Paul and Billy didnt gatekeep info. They answered all my questions AND they didnt treat me like a baby, dumbing down answers. Im so greatful for that, especially because, as I mentioned, I was without my daily shower! While our interactions were informative and professional, we did have a few laughs. They definitely knew, especially in the beginning, that I was stressed beyond belief and they made me feel 100% at ease. I also knew they were busy, but I never felt like they were in a rush to get done and get out.Im just, again, blown away at the service I get from Charles. I cant get over how quick this situation was resolved and at a price that I feel is very reasonable. These guys came through and delivered a Christmas miracle and they did it QUICK.Finally, I have to say I LOVE it when claims turn out to be true, especially because it is so easy for people to lie today. Charles is a great company. My furnace stopped working last January. Michael Charles gave me two heaters to help during that critical time.I had some issues. They came out to my home two times ready to work but couldnt. Michael Charles and his men were very patient with me. They came back out two days before Christmas, and removed my broken huge antique furnace and installed a new forced air system. It was very cold that day and a storm was moving in across Upstate NY.Heat was flowing through my home in five hours. They cleaned up and removed all debris. I have a three story home soon to be antique, with this system, my whole home is heated comfortably. Even, at very low temperatures outside, I havent had to move the thermostat pass 72 degrees. My basement is even warm. Thank you Michael Charles and installers for your compassion and kindness. You exceeded my expectations.

Brandon performed a check up service call for our older furnace. He noticed that the burners were using a great deal of natural gas and adjusted the flames to make it more energy efficient. I called Charles because I had a rather bad clogged kitchen sink. Turned out it was worse than expected. Had several clogs that had to be cleared from the basement. The tech Paul was on time, actually a little early, knew exactly what he was doing. We had central air installed to replace our window units. TechniciansRik A. & Jeremy installed both the new AC unit and new thermostat. They arrived several mins before scheduled appt which was great and took a look at everything first to get an idea of what they needed to do, then explained what they would be doing & approx. how long it would take. They had drop cloths & wore shoe covers to protect our floors and were very thorough, friendly & professional in their service and communication. We had a tricky situation with the placement of our unit, being the 2nd townhouse in, with a large back deck, where the unit needed to extend out in front of our deck instead of either side. We are very satisfied with how they made it work, given our unique situation. They finished earlier than expected and did a walkthrough explaining everything: how they ran the pipes, wires, how they installed the unit; went over thermostat function & programming, maintenance for ac unit, water pipe & filters. VERY thorough. Rik replaced our filter with one from his truck & explained how the (pricey) filters we had were actually less efficient than the cheaper one he replaced it with. Thank you for that bit of advice!! Jeremy shared about their club mmbrshp to have yearly service done for both our furnace and ac unit which seems very beneficial, so thank you! They also cleaned up everything very nicely. Both Rik & Jeremy were great techs & we couldnt be happier with their professional, friendly work ethic. They are honest people. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for the services they offer. Also want to mention Jim Lardeo, who met with us the day before installation to go over an estimate. Charles heating and AC are the best around. Their techs are always courteous, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. When you call they extremely nice and helpful. Text reminders for appointments are great they even include name and photo of the tech. Charles installed my furnace and AC and have maintained it ever since.Brandon was here on 11/28 and did a fantastic job with annual maintenance. I had recent work done on the exterior of my house and asked if he would check the AC unit to ensure the reconnect was in good working order. Brandon confirmed everything was good and proceeded to check everything on the furnace with a level of quality and due diligence that is rare in this day and age. This is the quality and attentiveness you can expect from Charles and their service techs every day. TY Brandon!A few years ago I had an issue that required a service appointment. The tech was very knowledgeable and I was not a club member at the time so the service cost and parts were more expensive. He explained the importance of maintenance and the value of being a club member, I signed up and was able to get the membership discount. Charles are local and family owned they will never leave you out in the cold! If you want trusted quality they’re the best in the business.

We needed to have our air ducts cleaned out, so we called Charles after asking around to a couple other companies. Charles had the most reasonable price. Matt was our tech that came, and he was beyond great! Aside from the great attention to task in cleaning the air ducts, he was able to answer questions we had about certain registers not working. He went as far as to follow vent tubes and identified that one was not set up to even receive heat/air. He helped to resolve the issue with no pause. On Dec. 19, 2023 my 20 yr. old furnace stopped working. I called Charles Heating and Mike Charles Jr. came that afternoon to give a quote. First he checked the furnace and found the possible problem to be the gas valve. Due to the cost of the repair and availability of the part I chose to replace the 20 yr.old furnace. I felt Mike was honest in his answers and opinion. No pressure was applied.On Dec. 21 Dan R. and his partner arrived right on time and 2.5 hours later I had a new furnace and heat. The installers answered all my questions and made sure all my concerns were addressed. They were efficient, friendly, and clean.

Brian, Jeremy and Matt showed up promptly in the morning to replace my furnace then install a new furnace and a new central air. Very professional work was done. Very impressed at the quality of work. Like having to remove the old duct work from my 80% furnace to the chimney stack which was spliced in with my hot water tank. Instead of just capping the furnace exhaust pipe they removed all old piping and ran a new piped from the hot water tank to the chimney. Making for a very professional cleaner look. They worked strait through till job was done and didn’t leave till I was satisfied with all questions I had about the new systems. Great job guys !!!!

I got a text around 6:45 with a picture of Gerald & was told he was on the way. I also got a phone call shortly after from the dispatcher saying Gerald was 20minutes away. Gerald was able to quickly find the problem & clear it away. He assured me he would not leave until it was taken care of and I knew that was true. Recently Charles HVAC quoted and installed a replacement furnace and Central Air system. Zack was very professional. His quote was timely and included the options I was looking for. He did not try to up sell us. The work was done as scheduled and on time. I think they did a very fine job.Today I noticed a teeny tiny gas leak from a fitting that they installed last month. I called the office at 3:15pm and by 5:15 Ron arrived. Within ten minutes he fixed the issue. I am very happy with the system and with their service.

When I woke up this AM we had no heat in the house. The Thermostat was working and furnace was trying to start but I could not figure out what was going on. I called Charles and had a Service team to my house within 2 hours, they called and texted me a picture of who was showing up to my house. They warned me the price for the repair was a little high and wanted my OK before moving forward. They completed the job in a short amount of time and cleaned up after themselves. Came for routine furnace maintenance and found a leak in our furnace exhaust. They know we have kids so they had an installation crew here an hour later to replace the exhaust so we could turn our heat back on as soon as possible. Could not ask for a better group of people to do repairs and maintenance in your home. Also prices are always reasonable especially considering the quality of work and level of service they provide. They’ve replaced two sump pumps, our hot water heater, the plumbing under our kitchen sink and repaired our AC and furnace and have been phenomenal every time. I wouldn’t trust anyone else at this point. Can’t recommend Charles enough.

By 3:00ish Monday he was back to install the blower motor & before we knew it we were back up and running. Amin was very professional & efficient. We would definitely recommend Charles Heating for furnace repair, especially if you need help quickly. Price seemed reasonable for a weekend service call. Update: Zach Charles called almost immediately after posting this. I had requested to talk to someone about this in the past but was always told nothing could be done. He called and apologized and immediately rectified the issue and worked with me to get the best price on the ac install even though I wasn’t able to wait on the furnace for the special to come out. Zach’s professionalism and customer service is what I have experienced 90% of the time dealing with Charles. I had reluctantly reached back out to a few other companies I got quotes from to see about them doing the AC as I had no desire to work with Charles again, Zach stepped up, took care of what should’ve been a minor simple issue to begin with and now the new install is scheduled! Thank you.It’s a shame administratively they are so poor. The product and installers have been great. Had a furnace installed in October. Had them run a new duct and install a bathroom fan in November. Called to see if they would work on the price of the air conditioner, considering I was quoted only $300 more than their current special for both furnace and ac for just the AC. Also they quoted a $200 rebate on the furnace. Ended up only getting $150, and when asked they get very defensive and adamant I’m wrong. Found their original SIGNED quote. Sure enough, $200, said yeah it was a mistake but won’t do anything about it. A signed quote is legally binding. You have no choice but to do something about it. Their department people and installers have been great, the equipment has worked great but whoever the lady in the office is, she’s miserable to deal with, has been condescending on the issue and refuses to escalate a mistake they made. This simple minor issue has absolutely ruined any good standing as a company with us and for no reason. Reach out if you guys change your mind and want to discuss further.

I was very happy with his knowledge and professionalism.I then dealt with the office to schedule installation of the new furnace and add air conditioning to my 1950’s home. I have used Charles plumbing and heating since I moved into this area. They have always provided us with service within hours of me calling them. Always professional on the phone and all their service technicians are respectful, knowledgeable and prompt with service. Today, I needed to have a new furnace installed. Jeremy and Matt (the service technicians) were so good about explaining everything. They wore covers over their boots, put down dropcloths and cleaned up the basement like they had never been here. They noticed my filter was getting dirty and not only replaced it, they left me a couple of new ones. VERY professional. Mike, one of the owners had provided services on a weekend service call when my old furnace stopped working. But the service tech informed me it was only a temporary fix. I called Charles Heating on a very busy day. They said they could come over after 5 pm. Tech arrived before 5 pm and serviced our furnace. It was a faulty gas valve that was under warranty. It was replaced quickly and is working nicely. Thanks to Jayson for doing a great job! Mike Charles gets a thank you as well for working me in before the 5 pm service time.
