We needed a mantle for a remodeled fireplace and after looking locally at a number of sites had no success in finding what we were looking for then we stumbled across Atlantic Specialty Woods and boy are we glad we did!The selection of material is stupendous and the service fantastic. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. After selecting the raw lumber they sanded it smooth and put a beautiful finish on it.Would recommend Christian, the owner, Gina the office person and Scott in the shop with no reservation. Any future needs, will know exactly where to go.

From initial phone contact to the discussion of my project to the selection of the best wood slabs to the processing and then reprocessing of those slabs, these guys have been a joy to work with! They have a wide selections of live-edge slabs/rounds, reclaimed wood, beams, and so much more. We have had wonderful experience at Atlanta Speciality Woods. We worked with Christian, whom was most helpful in helping us find what we were looking for. We were in search of a nice piece of relcaimed or live edge wood to make a floating shelf. He took us on a tour of the mill to show us what they had. We saw many great wood works, as well a various pieces of wood. He let us compare a couple of pieces that we liked outside, which helped us see if we gott a different feel for either piece when viewed under natural light. We told him what were looking to do and he walked us to pieces that would actually work for our project. He has a really good understanding of what customers are trying to acheive or may be has a good listening skill (ha ha). Christian took the time to answer every question we had. It was not only a pleasure to work with him, it was also fun. We ended up purchasing a 11.5ft piece of cypress gray wood. He cut for us right theire on the spot. The prices for the individual pieces are very reasonable. If you are looking for a unique piece of wood and/or some great custom wood work Atlanta Specialy Wood is the place. We will definetly be revisting as we have a lot more planned. I will update this post with pictures of finihsed product, once we complete our project.08/20/2024Our project utilizing the cypress gray wood is complete. We waxed it and let it sit for 48 hours. This is it after installation. The measurement and cut made for a perfect fit. I couldnt more pleased with how it turned out.

These guys are amazing woodworkers, real craftsman!…we purchased two mantles from them and both are beautiful. We had a last minute request as we are moving out of town. We went in on a Saturday and Taylor was outstanding. He could have easily directed us to come back Monday to deal with the owner Christian ( a great guy), but he took a lot of his time and helped us create an amazing piece. We had an outdoor patio and fireplace installed with a what was called Barnwood mantle. While it was beautiful for a few years, the wrong wood type and the fact it was not sealed caused it to rot. I found Atlanta Specialty Wood, met with them and they advised me to the type of wood that would withstand the elements and they would triple varnish all sides so ensure it was protected and would not rot. It was such an easy process and removal and installation was awesome. You could stand on this mantle and it will not come down. More than happy with the outcome

So much to brag about at Atlanta Specialty Woods. First let me say that Scott is a genius with wood, and I enjoyed working him as well as everyone there. We were able to pick out the wood we wanted to have for 2 live edge bars. They also created a cover for a supporting beam that simply is amazing. It is a major focal point in the room and everyone comments on it. I would not change anything. I would recommend anyone that is thinking of having any custom wood work or pieces to go talk to the experts at Atlanta Specialty Woods ... BTW the price for the wood and finished products were less expensive than I would have expected. All around great experience. Installation can be a little more expensive, but like I said before. I wouldnt change anything!

I could not be more pleased with the experience I had working with this company! I initially phoned and spoke with Christian, the owner. He was very patient as I explained to him that I had been trying, without any results to have some lumber ripped. I must have tried five different companies to no avail. Christain asked me a few questions regarding the wood and its make up. He felt confident they could make the three cuts involved with no problems based on our conversation.When I arrived that afternoon and showed him the actual wood he confirmed it would not be a problem making the cuts. He left the job in the hands of one of his associates by the name of Scott. Scott made the cuts with precision and skill and then showed me the finished product compared side by side with the original pieces I brought in.I would highly recommend Atlanta Specialty Woods. The staff is friendly and professional and above all knowledgeable. It was my good luck picking up the phone and calling this company!

I was visiting Atlanta over the holidays and I met Mr. Christian Spencer, the owner of Atlanta Specialty Woods, by chance. He gave me a tour of his shop and told me about the history of how he started his wood business. Its incredible how he was able to build this wood empire out of his own garage years ago. His passion for excellent wood work was palpable. I saw a lot of good quality specialty woods perfect for dining tables, barn doors, mantels, wall paneling, etc. Anything you want that has to do with natural wood, you name it. They also try to protect the environment by selling reclaimed wood. As much as I love wooden dining tables with live edges, I obviously could not take one home with me to NYC, so I settled for this beautiful cedar wood bowl. I was completely mesmerized by the natural scent of cedar that the bowl exudes when I put my nose close to it. They have other wooden bowls for sale too. I also got a tee shirt and a very warm hoodie with a convenient front pocket with the company logo. I highly recommend Atlanta Specialty Woods for all your wood needs.

Christian and team were awesome to work with and have created two statement pieces for our home that bring new life to our kitchen (live edge bar top) and accentuate the ruggedness of our new fireplace (barnwood beam mantle from an old tobacco barn in North Carolina). We are also in the process of having the team build several custom shelves for our new basement storage areas - using live edge salvaged beams from an old billiard factory in Ohio.

This is our second purchase from Atlanta Specialty Woods. Years ago we purchased a beautiful oak post to mount our mailbox that kept getting knocked down by the postal carrier! Still standing 12 years later!!! I recently reached out to Michelle about needing a mantle for a new home we are building. She asked for me to send some pics of the space, with color scheme, etc. Within the hour she sent me photos of two options and one of them was **perfect**! We picked up the reclaimed oak mantle two days later. Will post photo once up. Everyone there is super nice and love what they do. It’s worth a trip there to walk around and see all the gorgeous pieces of wood. We are going to order some shelves from them as well!

These guys did a great job with some custom work I brought them. I had a large red oak come down in the summer storms and I got the bright idea to cut some slabs out of it to make a bar top and mantle. I took the rough cut wood to them and they did the rest. Take a look at the pics. The bar stool tops are temps until the ones I made finish curing out in the basement.

The piece they found was a reclaimed beam from a barn in Pennsylvania, and it could not have been a more perfect match! They have a great selection of reclaimed wood in a lot of different sizes, and their work is really beautiful. My overall experience working with the team there was wonderful from start to finish. The beam was cut to my specific size requirements and they were able to get it to me quickly to help keep my renovation on schedule. This place is amazing!! I walked onto the property and was looking through the wood, and knew they had some really great quality stuff. Walked inside and signed in and headed back out to the yard for the lumber. I was immediately greeted by the Owner himself. Christian understood my creativity and I was able to get the perfect aged and reclaimed wood with a ton of character and uniqueness. I needed some work done to the material and Christian made sure all details of planing and cutting were perfect. If you want a one of a kind wood product in your home you have to make a trip to Atlanta Specialty Woods!! I’ll be back!!

I would definitely recommend Atlanta Specialty Woods for your project. I needed to replace two rotten deck boards (1 x 5.5 x 14) and was having a very difficult time trying to find the kind that I needed as you cant find deck board at your local Lowes or Home Depot. I called as many lumber yards and wood-working shops that I could find and none of them had what I needed (due to the pandemic). I called and spoke to Christian, explained my situation, and asked if I bought two 2 x 6 x 14 boards from Lowes if he could plane them down for me. He explained that they didnt really do that as they mainly work with reclaimed wood and they had a large order that was coming due, but he would try to help me out. I brought an old cedar chest that my dad gave my mom some 45-50 years ago. The chest was showing its age. The top was recently damaged when it got pushed too far back.I took the cedar chest to ASW to have it refinished. When I went to pick up the chest, it looked like brand new. I met Christian a while back by chance and he introduced me to this fascinating ancient Japanese technique called shou sugi ban. Basically its the art of preserving wood by charring it. I commissioned his team to create a modular coffee table made of pieces of reclaimed beams treated with this technique. I cant tell you how stunning is the result. Its not just a coffee table. Its a piece of art. We had Atlanta Specialty Woods finish and install two large fireplace mantels, two 12 foot beams, and a custom beam surround for a 60 inch range hood insert. The workmanship finish quality was outstanding! Jada was great to work with and very responsive. Brian did a fantastic job with the installation. We couldnt be happier. I highly recommend for all your specialty wood projects. Theyre the best!!

Christian and all the other guys could not have been more accommodating when I showed up looking for a beam for my mantel that I really needed to take home with me that day. The inventory at this place is really something. I was impressed with the variety of woods, the different beam styles (character of the wood, etc.), and the prices. I found the perfect piece of cypress on their yard, they cut it to size for me while I waited, and loaded it into my SUV. They also sold me a terrific little can of wax stain and briefed me on the very simple steps that I would use to DIY the mantle beam at home to achieve a rich brown color. I could not be more pleased. Youll be glad you checked this place out!
