    Dave with Ex-Stink is excellent! I have been using this plumbing service for about 2 years now. From start to finish, the customer service is personable and professional. The team is incredibly reliable, showing up when scheduled and ready to tackle the issue at hand. Communication is always clear and transparent, and Dave takes the time to explain the options making sure I am comfortable with every decision. What stands out the most for me is that Dave truly listens to my needs and makes recommendations that were in my best interest.     Our experience with Ex-Stink Plumbing has been exceptional! Dave diagnosed a problem that was overlooked by other companies. His knowledge and problem solving is only surpassed by his friendly personality. The communication with the company, from the time we called, to the updates of when he was arriving, are so unusual.     The company was great. I actually had no issues whatsoever. They were quick about coming and really helped me out. Dave explained the steps very well and informed me of changes. He also helped to get the job scheduled quickly when he saw how significant the problem was. Andy and Kenny came out to do the job and were very polite and kept me in the loop on the task, bringing any changes to my attention. Also, they work fast. Even helped me out with some more info for work I need to do around the house. They did an absolute great job on the work an I would recommend these guys everytime. 10 for 10!

    Just had Ex Stink out to diagnose and repair a problem with water not flowing out of basement fixtures. Dave diagnosed the problem over the phone and then came to repair it. Replaced failed ejector pump and installed a float switch and water sensor. Work was done quickly and with attention to detail. Very knowledgeable and a straight-shooter. Gave thoughts to consider for potential other issues we might experience in other areas. Would definitely use again and would also ask for Dave.

    Excellent service call from Dave and Jon this morning. They were professional, friendly and clearly explained the process rodding our sewer clean out . The job was thorough and took care of the problem. Cleanup and invoicing done quickly. The scheduling from initial call to service call less than 24 hours. We were notified by text and email confirming and updating with projected arrival time. 5 plus stars!

    One evening, I tried to unclog a toilet in our basement; however, after turning on the basement tub to see what effect it might have on the toilet water level, I saw water come out of the floor drain. Subsequently, I wasnt sure whether I actually had a blocked toilet or a faulty ejector pump (necessary to move water below ground level).I left a message with Ex-Stink that same evening and was pleasantly surprised to get a call back that same evening from David. At no charge, David listened to my concern and even suggested a workaround for me to try that evening to see whether the failure was just the pump switch or the pump. After telling David the result of the workaround, David immediately diagnosed the concern as a broken pump and provided an over-the-phone quote.David then scheduled the repair the next day before 8 AM at the normal rate and completed the job (with his colleague Jon) in less-than-estimated time. The price remained that which was quoted. They were very clean and left little-to-no-trace of their visit.David listened patiently to my questions and provided guidance on operation of the new system.Ex-Stink helped me to make the best out of a bad unforeseen occurrence.

    I only leave reviews when I feel super compelled and I had a great experience with Ex-Stink.     I had a leak under sink and I could not find the source. Had two referrals from daughter and friends. I called and Dave and Jon came the next morning. They found the source of the leak and said I needed a new faucet.Fortunately they had a great looking faucet in the truck.     Ex-stink was recommended to me by a contractor friend. Our basement sink was backing up from the kitchen sink, so we couldn’t use either or run the dishwasher. They got us scheduled same day for early afternoon. Mike and Ken were great, they explained the problem, the possible causes and maintenance routines to prevent future issues. Our pipe was rodded and flowing free in under an hour and we’re super relieved and happy we called them. We have some plumbing projects in the near future and will definitely use Ex-stink.

    I had a clogged drain in the bathroom. They showed up the next day at the stated time. Dave was efficient with the work of cleaning out the drain.     We called Ex-Stink for a second opinion after getting an $11000 quote from rotorooter telling us we need to do a bunch of work on our main sewer line. They had a fast response time. Dave and Jon came out and rodded our line (actually rodded it out, unlike the poor job rotorooter did), looked at our line, and gave us an honest opinion. They were friendly and professional and saved us so much money. They literally are able to cut Rotorooters prices in half and have longer warranties! I will be using this company exclusively moving forward!

    Very professional service. They came out quickly to diagnose my problem at 6am. Explained my options and what they needed to do to fix my problem.     Dave is the man!! As usual he was fast efficient, the job was done well and correctly, Daves very pleasant, professional, and cool 😎I needed to add that Dave and his partner had to come back to my house and fix a leak in the shower and my toilet was leaking!! Dave and his partner diagnosed the issue immediately, and although I tried to help prior to them getting there, by unscrewing the pipe that was leaking(like an idiot)...I snapped it off with the thread inside, making Daves job much more time consuming, even to the point that he had to go back to his shop and get more parts!Both Dave & his partner were both extremely patient and was very nice and understanding....even though I made the job much more difficult than it wouldve been, DRRRRRRP!They fixed everything, cleaned up any small mess they made, was extremely fair and accommodating on pricing, and even took a call from me today to provide advice and his expert opinion on a few other questions I had about potential future projects I may want to do!! I will never use anybody else when it comes to plumbing!!!Please see the before and after pics!!! Its painfully obvious how awful of a job the original contractor did! From not using correct pipe tape to soldering the pipe and burning the 2×4 it was attached to......Dave & Ex- Stink are real professionals!!!

    Ex-Stink came to my home within two hours from north of me in sub zero weather to replace a water heater. I can always rely on them for honest pricing. Dave came in, assessed the issue and offered affordable solutions. I decided to replace the water heater which was the best solution. Dave, Jon, and Justin worked very hard to pull out a heavy, old water heater and did a beautiful job replacing it in no time. See pics. They respected my home and even were super sweet to my dog. They always leave my home spotless. What’s cool is they respect each other while they work. You could see and hear the teamwork. It’s nice to see a team working so well together.Ex-Stink has been rodding our sewer system yearly for roots to prevent water damage from large tree roots entering our plumbing.     We first needed sewer line attention when our lateral inexplicably backed up. Ex-Stinks crew opened it on the same day we called. While they were at our home, they showed me the problem: many years ago , when the sewers went in, the old clay pipe from our septic was used for a short section, and it was now blocked with roots.Today the defective section was replaced with a minimum of disruption to our lives.Very professional and efficient.Tom OBrien

    I have been an Ex-Stink customer for over 10 years. I’ve had them install a toilet, two water heaters, faucets, clear clogged sinks, repair broken sewer line and probably more that I can’t recall! I have them rod my sewer line every year as a preventative measure because I have large trees on my property and roots always find their way into our sewer line. Since we started the annual rodding with Ex-Stink, we have never had water in our basement again. I have been completely satisfied with every single job they have done for us. I find them to be honest and reasonably priced. I would never even consider contacting another plumbing company. Ex-Stink is top notch and I’m so happy to have a plumbing company I can trust!

    After a month of multiple estimates and diy trying to locate the clean out drain and clear the blockage causing everything to back up, we finally found the original company (Ex-Stink Plumbing, Sewer and Drainage) who installed our clean out drain back in 2013 and with old pics they were finally able to find the drain and clear the blockage.     Mike, Kenny and Justin were amazing! We use Ex-stink for routine maintenance and have always been super happy. We recently had a new bathroom put in and despite my reservations my contractor used his plumber. It was a nightmare. The work was adequate but they didnt address potential issues. Ex-stinks crew came in and checked, addressed and resolved the issues we were having and identified potential future problems so we could prevent them. The level of professionalism, respect and general compassion was beyond exceptional. Night and day between this crew and the contractors.     Dave responded to an emergency call due to sewer water back up and overflowing toilet. He arrived with in an hour and quickly assessed the problem with a camera down the drain. Provided a firm quote and after completing the paperwork made arrangements for a crew to start in on the repairs so that we could have temporary service that night. Crew was there until 9 PM to get us service and then back the next day after obtaining the required permit to start the repair. Repair was completed and inspection signed off the following day. I could not be more pleased with the professional service Dave, Mario, Mike and Kenny performed. The price for the repair was reasonable and the customer service aspect of the team was outstanding. I highly recommend this company.

    Awesome experience start to finish replacing my water heater! I contacted five AO Smith recommended partners that had high Google Maps reviews. By far, Dan and Ex-stink stood out on the phone because of the way they do business. Requirements gathering (photos and pulling serial numbers), no hidden costs (quote with line by line pricing, that was also the most competitive), expert knowledge (none of the other firms mentioned power anodes or some other crucial details).     Dave Fisher and Cole saved the day! We had a sewage backup for 5 days with 2 other plumbers unable to solve and resolve the issue. The initial basement flood was horrible enough but on the morning of the fifth day without water (no toilet use, shower, laundry, etc) we had rain. This caused a MAJOR flood with several inches of water pouring into the basement for several hours. Mike and Cole showed up like super heroes. They were calm, cool, professional and efficient.     2020: Dave and Nick came out to rod our sewer line earlier today. They started by looking for a way to access the sewer line from outside and used their sewer-cam to figure out where our sewer line runs (its an old house). Based on that they were able to do the cleaning from an outside access. That made the work cheaper and much cleaner. They were happy to talk throughout and tell me what they were doing and why. Ive used Ex-Stink once before to help fix a flooded basement and also had a good experience with them that time. I will use them again. Price is reasonable, service is great, and they do good work.Update May 2023: Dave from Ex-Stink came back today for a maintenance clean of our sewer line. Once again I found them to be excellent and reasonably priced. We will keep using them to maintain our sewer line.

    Dave Fisher and his business partner Cole were able to rectify an EXTREMELY harrowing, profoundly mentally traumatic issue in which our family suffered an absolutely disastrous basement flooding, the worst calamity since our move to Glencoe 18 years ago.We were initially referred to mere mortal plumbing contractors (contractorS PLURAL) who came highly recommended but, their initial attempts woefully failed to identify the source of the issue.BOTTOM LINE: Before we were fortunate enough to have found Dave and Cole, and their company Ex-Stink Plumbing, Sewer, and Drainage, we were unable to use our bathrooms, sinks, dishwasher, or washing machine for just about a week; whereas a collective passel of others abjectly failed to right this extremely merciless-on-the-soul issue, this companys capabilities allowed our family to literally breathe-- to finally be able to place this tragedy behind us...to finally move on, as we were unable to move a step in any direction-- both literally and figuratively-- until this very definitive step had been remedied.Whereas several collective attempts from other companies failed over the course of several days, this company slickly advanced this seemingly insurmountable nightmare beyond its misery point, and abated our familys veritable suffering, WITHIN AN HOUR AND A HALF of intervention.There is not an ounce of embellishment nor a drop of exaggeration above: Dave, Cole, and their company literally put an end to a near-week of suffering.     Our toilet wasn’t flushing correctly. It would slowly fill up and then finally whoosh down. Mike from Ex-Stink came out, used his auger and found two of the Clorox cleaning pads stuck together.     After having some major backflow during the spring thunderstorms, we started the (more difficult than youd expect) task of searching for a company to install a backflow prevention valve/clean-check to help us never have that problem again. Fortunately a neighbor down the block had worked with Ex-Stink before - upon the first call, they were quick, communicative, and extremely helpful. On the first visit, they explained what we needed and what options were available, and did things that other companies wanted $250-$300 for (running a camera through our drain) for free, marking where in our yard they would end up installing.Dave, the project manager, helped with every question we had, and called almost daily with updates on planning and permits. When the day to install came, Mike and his crew were on time and extremely professional. They managed to get everything installed with minimal damage to the lawn, cleaned up immaculately, walked us through every step, and had everything finished much quicker than I had anticipated. We also needed our sump pump drain line rerouted - I was preparing for the worst, expecting drywall to be ripped out and a huge mess - but when it was done you could hardly even tell anything had happened.Great company to work with.     Accidentally called Ex-Stink and it was the best mistake I have made in a while. I actually told Jackie I would call back when I called the first time, I wanted to check out their reviews. Their reviews were great. So I called back and Jackie took the 2nd call and was very gracious about talking to me about setting up an appointment even though I thought I was calling another plumbing company the first time. The appointment was set up and was told I would receive a call when the plumbing technician was on their way. Dave did in fact call in advance and was familiar with why he was heading to our home.     No one wants to do sewer work, but Dave and his crew eased the pain. We have large trees in our back yard that we have known for years are encroaching our drain tile and storm sewer lines. After tree roots burned out our main sump pump we call Ex-Stink for an evaluation.They noticed the roots and were amazed anything was really draining. We did have two other companies look and we decided Dave had the most economical and logical solution. We had to replace the exterior drain in one window well, the drain tile in the back corner by the trees, interior drain tile along one wall and new sewer lines along a portion of the house.Mike was the crew leader and always had a smile and good attitude even when the tree roots just kept getting in the way. The drain sewer line leading to the street was packed full with roots that replacing it was the only option.Mike was efficient even in the light rain to finish the job on time. Ex-Stink did a great job and I would not hesitate hiring them again. (Hopefully not)

    First, Ill say this company and Dave is top notch. I recommend this company for any of your plumbing needs. Our lower bathroom had a problem so we called on a Sunday holiday weekend and they came 2 hours later. They were able to diagnose it to a recent porch work done where Coventional Concrete broke the cap off to the main house sewer line and let concrete and other debris fall into the hole causing the clogged pipe then recapping the hole. Dave was able to remove the clog without digging a single hole or cutting any part of the pipe. Saved us money, stress, and an end to the sewer backup into the house. Thank you Dave!

Service was scheduled in a reasonable amount of time (2 days from my call, non-emergency situation).     Dave was very professional on the job and got my flooding issue taken care of by cleaning out roots from sump pump. Gave us lots of advice to keep it from happening again and even checked up after a rain storm to make sure there was no water!

Price was about the same as other estimates but Dave was accountable, answered all of my questions and made a big effort to figure out the issue instead of scaring me with hypotheticals, and found time in his schedule to service our storm drain before a coming thunderstorm. Cant recommend this company highly enough.

    One can get apprehensive about service calls to ones home. I have been comfortable and confident with Ex-Stink. They have been my go-to guys since 2015, 3 consecutive years between our familys 2 houses. They dont mind the drive from Fox Lake into the city and they schedule the home calls sensibly to cover families needs, in timely fashion.Costs are reasonable and you can get quotes over the phone.From other companies,Ive gotten quotes that were nearly double and another 3x more.I strongly recommend Ex-Drink ! Professional, dependable and reasonably-priced clean work. Dave and Nick were great. Its Daves 2nd home call to us.

    They are awesome.So this is actually kinda funny looking back on it. Our sewer main backed up into our basement from the city main about a month before i was supposed to give birth. We called out the roto people and they told me our sewer line was gonna collapse any day and quoted me close to 52 thousand dollars. I started calling around looking for quotes. I laughingly joked with a couple over what the original quote was and it went from 52 to 27 grand for just trenching and replacing the 10 foot dip in the front yard. After freaking out and having a hissy fit I called Ex-stink and basically broke down with the receptionist. She sent awesome sauce out. He told me point blank what our problem was. He re-cammed our line at no cost and didnt even try confusing me on the problem. He showed me everything he thought needed fixing including busting thru concrete in out basement to install clean-out valves. I was quoted under 20 for more than 4 times the work of what others were quoting me on. they even replaced our water line at the same time for just the cost of upgrading to copper from steel. I was about two weeks out from my due date when they started the work and they had it finished when they said they would even though the weather was horrible for the last three days of the job. The people who helped with the job were awesome polite and funny. It was truly an enjoyable experience for being such a poopy situations. Thank you guys for all your hard work.

I know what the amount of work is, Im just not oozing with available time to handle it at the moment.On a recommendation from a Facebook group, I reached out to the owner of this business. Pricing was fair, they didnt upsell anything I didnt need, fast and clean work. Employees were very courteous and will be recommending to others.

    Ex-Stink excavated and repaired drain til around my house. They were prompt, did the work and kept me informed along the way. After getting quotes from 4 other services to fix the water backing up in my egress window, Ex-Stink was the only firm who helped diagnose the REAL problem and then provide a reasonable cost to fix the problem. They also provided a clean-out that will make it easier to prevent the tree root problem from reoccurring.I highly recommend them and will be doing business with them again as needed!

    Extremely friendly and professional. They happily answered all my questions as I stood off to the side and watched. Unlike other plumbers weve used, EX-Stink also used a camera first to assess what and where the problem was before cleaning out the pipes. They then cleaned the pipes before verifying everything was good with the camera. The other plumbers would use a camera but at an additional charge. Ex-Stink will be my go-to company from now on.
