    Very Impressed. We talked to several contractors about our plans to add a screened room and deck. Others would have required the expense of a separate architect. Rick was able to design a great plan to accommodate our existing pantry bump out in a creative way that flows really well. Build quality is very high - particularly from a structural perspective. Rickā€™s crew was at our house every weekday throughout the 4 week build. They were always very respectful and cleaned-up at the end of the day. Itā€™s a good, hard-working team. Price was reasonable given the quality of the work

    Rick and crew did a wonderful job replacing our deck. The craftsmanship was amazing. We had a deck that was starting to fall apart and started looking for bids, we came across Rickā€™s company, Homemade Construction, and got a bid to rebuild our deck completely with trex boards and add a roof and screen it in. He gave us about a 12 -14 week lead time for starting work after we signed the contract. He was able to shorten that by a week or so. His crew did a fantastic job taking the old deck down and rebuilding a new one. Rick worked with me with all the features I wanted to add onto the deck and we are extremely happy with the finished deck. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to build a deck. We are out there most nights where we barely used the deck before.

    My wife and I recently had Rick and his Home Made Construction team tear down and rebuild a front porch and a back deck for our home, and we couldnā€™t be happier with their work. After having two other companies come out to provide us with a quote, even though Rickā€™s quote did come out a little lower, it was really the look of his end product and the list of referrals that made the decision simple. Everything was a near perfect match with the existing house and colors, and the gabled screened in porch addition definitely puts it over the top. We are out on our back porch and deck daily. It is such a relaxing spot in the evenings.Rick and his team were professional, punctual, and meticulous in their work and with daily cleanup.     The reason I chose Rick and his crew over the other bids I had was because of his knowledge and experience . Through our walkthrough, Rick immediately noticed some items that needed to be changed in the rebuild to ensure the integrity and quality of the new build. Rick did not over promise. He completed everything he stated and on the time frame he stated. As for his crew, they were cordial, respectful and knowledgeable. They showed up early each morning and put in a solid day of work. At rhe end of each day, they cleaned up and at the end of the job, everything was cleaned up as if no construction was ever done. Iā€™m very pleased with Rick and his crew and highly recommend him.

    Our deck was old and very much in need of replacement. We had purchased a hot tub about 18 months ago, but couldnā€™t take delivery because our old deck wouldnā€™t support it. Rick and his crew took out the old deck, took our ideas and created an extremely sturdy deck that not only supports the hot tub, but came out exactly as we had imagined! We also have large dogs that we wanted to keep off the deck, so Rick fashioned a gate specifically for our needs. His crew was quick and professional, and the entire thing was completed in approximately 3 weeks. We could not be happier!

    Rick and Home Made Construction replaced our aged wood deck with a timber tech PVC deck. It turned out exactly how we wanted. They completed the project while we are on vacation and we came back to a clean work area and and a transformed back outdoor living space.     I contacted Rick based on a five star rating from a neighbor on a project he had done in our subdivision. Rick promptly came out and gave me an estimate to replace some decks on the back of our house. The two replacement decks that he designed and constructed for us completely transformed the back of our house and yard. His crews are professional and courteous. They use quality materials and clean up well every day. They do the job right and donā€™t take any shortcuts. Due to the weather we had some delays but he was able to start our project much sooner than we had expected which was wonderful. Rick even did some extra work on the back of the house which was much appreciated! We are very much enjoying our new decks! We highly recommend Home Made Construction for all of your projects!

    Rick and his crew always showed up on time and got right to it while always being friendly and courteous , the crew kept the work area spotless during work, and every day when I got home from work it was cleaned up nicely. Job was done exactly when Rick said it would be, (we didnā€™t have any bad weather days or anything) but still it was done right to a high level of scrutiny on their part. Top notch materials used and very professional company all together. Yet still felt like a personal experience. I canā€™t recommend them enough!!     We hired Rick to construct a large job at our home. Due to the size of the job, it took several weeks to complete. In this time, we had an opportunity to really get an understanding of how Rick goes about his business. Some things we observed during this time: communication was outstanding, he kept us in the loop regarding all facets of the job, his crew was timely, mannerly, skilled, and they cleaned up daily, the materials he used were very good quality, and the craftsmanship was immaculate and professional, if we noticed even a small thing, he corrected it immediately. Our final result is beautiful. He was able to tie in a large new area to our pre-existing house roof and it looks like it has always been there. Everything looks really impressive.We have experienced plenty of terrible contractors and construction-type workers. There are many of them out there, but Rick Hockenberry is NOT one of them. We would describe Rick as old-school. Heā€™s been in contracting/construction for many years, and he still does it the old-fashioned way.     I just want to take a moment to give Rick Hockenberry and his crew at Homemade the accolades they well deserve. We have been coveting a screened covered porch for years and decided to pull the proverbial trigger in the fall of last year (2023). And voilaā€“ by the beginning of February 2024, we had one! This is no small feat since the weather in January featured rain, snow, and ice, and delayed this group from working for a full two weeks.Weā€™ve had a lot of work done on this house. A LOT. And Rick is the best contractor we have ever had, without question. He is professional, friendly, punctual, communicative, neat (yesā€“ in construction, ā€œneatnessā€ counts) and very good at his job.What I really wanted to do is show you a picture of this room 100% completed, but alas, itā€™s our turn to take over with the finish work, and weā€™re old and slow.     March 1, 2021Jarrett & Christie C.My wife and I had Rick come to our home to build a fireplace mantle and box for a propane fireplace set we purchased from Sothern Hearth & Patio. We immediately felt comfortable with Rick as he is such a downhome guy. As he explained how he would go about building our fireplace, because we honestly were at a loss as to exactly what we wanted the whole fireplace look like, Rick came up with several ideas. We settled on one that truthfully was quite elaborate. Rick showed up on time every day and was very meticulous in his work, He took care to manage his tools so as not to damage anything as he built us an extension/wall to an existing wall to accommodate the firebox size which was 47Wx35Hx18D. As he proceeded with building the fireplace he explained every step and asked us for our thoughts or decisions on some areas pertaining to what we wanted. Rick is extremely careful to give the customer what they want. His craftmanship is the best I have seen in ages, Rick is truly an artist. We will not hesitate to call on him for any type of building, from scratch, to any size remolding job. Rick is number one in our book. Please feel free to call or email for details or a recommendation.Update Oct. 27, 2021 We had Rick come over today to give us an idea as to what type of pool deck he recommends for us. He took all the measurements and photos and spent time explaining options in materials as well as the pro and cons of different materials. We will have another meeting in several days as to the estimate on the deck overall cost. We are sure it will be a fair estimate.
