We had a complicated situation upgrading electrical for an Accessory Dwelling Unit, as we were trying to get it properly zoned for the Town of Chapel Hill. We also had to meet other requirements that the town surprised us with. It was quite the ordeal! Kevin of Bud Matthews helped us through a whole process with figuring things out with the Town of Chapel Hill, and Andrew of Bud Matthews got all the work and permitting done very efficiently! Both were good with communications, and Andrew let us know what was going on every step of the way! We are very pleased with how things turned out. Thank you!!

Plumbing: Matthew fixed the leak in our sink, and then hooked up an under sink water filter. We have an older house, and when a part broke, he got a new one from the truck and fixed it. Weve been with BMS for 4 years now, on the maintenance plan, and also for unplanned service visits. Both times weve called with an urgent need, they came that day (which was so appreciated on a 94 degree day, when my cooling had gone down). They always send over a personable, prompt, and capable tech who takes the time to explain the issue, and has been able to fix it then.My experience with professional services has been very up and down since moving here, but at least I dont have to worry about keeping cool or staying warm (thank God).

Darrell was the lead plumber on our job. He was professional in all aspects of his work. He was an effective communicator throughout the Instalation of the Tankless Hot Water heater to replace a very old and contaminated tank hot water heater. He also installed a washing machine hook up and plumbed the drain into a challenging 1955 Cast iron waste line. He kept his wok area clean and neat in the midst of our renovation work to refinish all of the hard wood floors and paint the entire interior. He cleaned up his work area and in the crawl space as well. This is exceptional for plumbers based on my life long experience.Derek did the estimate on the work and was was timely and clear with the whole process. The scheduling and billing folks I interacted with on the phone were friendly and helpful. I will recommend this company to anyone who asks for someone to do plumbing work.

We wanted to install gas logs in our wood burning fireplace, remove the raised hearth and install a new hearth surround and mantle. This simple project required several trades - demolition, masonry, granite installation, gas log prep, carpentry, safety inspections. No one wants this small of a job and no one can do the entire job. After 6 months of running into walls I finally connected with Bud Matthews who coordinated all the trades and completed the job. They called back, showed up for all appointments, knew their business and got the job done. We are very pleased with their service and our results!

Ok .. this is a NEW review for an appliance repair issue, so I am piggy-backing on a previous plumbing issue to describe my complete satisfaction with a cooktop repair done today.Our cleaners accidentally spilled water on the cooktop which resulted in a malfunction with the ignitors. With guests coming in a few days, I called Bud Matthews and they sent a repair technician out the same day.Benjamin wasted no time getting to work diagnosing the issue. It took some detective work, but within 20 minutes he had it figured out. No need for new parts, no need for a return visit. Whats more, as a first time appliance repair customer, he gave me a discount on the price.Benjamin was polite, professional, well organized and focused. I cannot say enough about his ability, nor about Bud Matthews quick service. I recommend Benjamin and BM without hesitation. FIVE STARS without hesitation!As to the plumbing issue...I had to replace both a conventional bathroom sink faucet as well as the guts on a pedestal sink. Tyler came out, and he was amazing! Conscious of the fact they charge by the hour, he went straight to work. No wasted time, no wasted motions. Knew exactly what to do and was in and out in just under one hour. Also, a polite professional with a great personality. He and Bud M are now my go-to plumbers!!!

Cory from Bud Matthews did an excellent job diagnosing and repairing the unexpected plumbing leak in our wall that was leaking down through the basement ceiling. He arrived earlier than scheduled (which was great!) due to concern that we had turned the water off to our house and he wanted to address the issue as quickly as possible. He carefully checked and rechecked to ensure he had identified and corrected all the sources of the leak (and there was more than one!). We enjoyed meeting him. He is an asset to your company!

We had two areas of rotten wood--the fascia behind a gutter and even worse, the 6X6 post that comes up some 12 feet from downhill to hold the porch as well as two 4X4 posts holding that part of the deck that had rotted to the point where the deck was tilting. Alex and the team from Bud Matthews fixed both. The deck repair required supporting the entire porch to remove the rotted wood and then pouring a concrete base, all on a downslope. The team came out promptly and found the additional rotten wood and efficiently tackled the problem. Kudos to all.

We have had continuing sewer issues and Bud Matthews finally solved our problems. Tyler was our initial plumber. He responded quickly to our request and the blockage was fixed. Or so we thought. After a few months, we required Tyler again and this time he used the dreaded sewer camera to identify a slump in the line that was the problem. Or so we thought. This slump would require yard surgery with a backhoe and eventually we were given a quote. I would have given Bud Matthews only three or four stars at this point because it took quite a while between the time we got the quote and the time we finally got action. However, in the end, they deserve five stars because of their professionalism and diligence in solving our TWO sewer problems. After addressing the slump, they werent quite satisfied and used the camera again. This time after repeated examinations of one small section, they ascertained a small crack in the line that had allowed some tree roots to enter. This was not easy to find but uncorrected would have eventually caused us more sewer grief. This required more deep digging and more repair work. This should solve our problems (or so we hope!). All this activity required two days and the excellent team work of Derrick, Darrel, Matt, and Joseph. We thank them for their perseverance and hard work.

They were all very professional and able to complete the toilet installation and valve repair in a shorter time than anticipated. Pricing is fair as well.

Simon and the other appointment makers interpret the situation with such accuracy. They are exceedingly kind, sympathetic, and responsive. The workers who come to the house are professional, respectful, and competent. In this case, Hovany addressed a plumbing problem and resolved it within minutes. What a boon it is to have them to rely on.Today Luis came, and was absolutely wonderful. The repair took five minutes, and Luis was so incredibly kind.Today Jose assessed two air conditioners and a garbage disposal. I know him well and have never failed to admire his skill as a technician as well as his sweetness and kindness.Luis came back to problem-solve something for me. He is so willing, so helpful, so competent, and such a good teacher. A jewel of a person.Steve Fay is an ace plumber. It is difficult to adequately describe his expertise. It can really be thought of as supreme. He can suss out every problem and execute a perfect repair. His advice is right on the mark in every instance.Mike Sullivan made a masterpiece of horribly water-damaged floors, heart pine boards that seemed unsalvageable. He worked into the night and put his whole heart and great store of experience into the process. He is unbelievably caring, wise, and competent.There’s no plumber more proficient than Steve Fay. He has total concentration and commitment. He is the soul of responsibility. No one is more reliable or trustworthy.I was so struck by Bens conscientiousness and competence. Our dryer needed repair, and he diagnosed the problem immediately, went to great lengths to locate a replacement part (one Maytag no longer provided), noticed a deficiency in the venting system, and took pains to draw up a safer, more effective plan. Ben is not only kind and caring, but stalwart. Its such a rare quality nowadays. I didnt have a doubt in the world that he would put things right. He mentioned having been trained by Paul, one of the longest standing technicians at Bud Matthews, who Ive known for many years, whose work has been impeccable, who is a wonderful trustworthy person in every sense.Today Tyler Spivey came (along with Matt) to service two HVAC systems. What great work was done! Tyler suggested an air filtration system, that he uses himself and stands by, that I think it will make a wonderful improvement to the air quality here. Both workmen were so polite, competent, and hardworking. The house had such good care!

The guys at Bud Matthews were great: they tried everything they could to repair our old dishwasher. And once they determined that they couldn’t find a part that would work, they let us put the cost of the old repair towards the installation of the new dishwasher, which we really appreciated. Throughout the process, everyone we dealt with were friendly and always showed up right at the beginning of the given time interval, which made planning around the repairs very easy. Overall we’d be happy to hire them again for other jobs in the future.

Bud Matthews stands by its work. We have used them to fix our refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher over the years. Some fixes are immediate, but others have taken more sleuthing. Obviously I love it when the repair is immediate, but I also appreciate that they will come back and make sure it is done right.

Having been left in the lurch by another company, I called Bud Matthews hoping they could move some exterior furnace vent pipes so that the replacement tankless water heater installation by the gas company the next day could proceed on schedule. They sent Michael out to evaluate the job. He called to see if he could come about 3 hours earlier, gave me the estimate, and had Fred come out THAT SAME AFTERNOON and move the pipes so that I didnt have to reschedule the water heater which had already been broken for 5 days. Bud Matthews is always dependable, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. I have always used them for appliance repair but will be giving them my HVAC business now as well.

Excellent service. I contacted Bud Mathews Service through Angies List and used “Request a Quote” for a gas cook top that needed repair. Personnel telephoned me within one day, acknowledged my inquiry and said that a repairman would call me within a day or two. Paul telephoned and explained what parts would be necessary to make the repair, and gave me an estimate. Bud Mathews staff called a couple of days later and scheduled an appointment. Paul arrived at the scheduled appointment time and proceeded to repair the cook top. He was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The charge was as estimated.

Very happy with their service from start to finish. I needed to repair a broken ice maker, and BMS was able to schedule me quickly. My service technician Paul was great. He explained what he was looking for and why, and diagnosed the issue quickly. A new replacement unit came relatively quickly, and he installed it a day later. For both appointments, Paul was on time and extremely professional. Based on my experience, happy to recommend BMS to others!

We have a 2 yr old LG dryer with a too-long run from exterior of dryer to vent in our wall.That was giving us a digital error message recently and we had no idea why .Bud Matthews techs determined the issue...and we are very grateful for their help.I also want to mention that they DO clean and assess condition of dryer vent run(duct) ....Dryer vent cleaning/service is NOT a service offered by many companies...more seem to have sprung up since 2020(when we could only find one company in our area and we were extremely disappointed with their work as they attempted to clean the duct)...that said, Bud Matthews has been in business over 40 years. You can trust them.We are extremely happy with the result.

We were very happy with the service from Benjamin when he came to repair our washer. He diagnosed the problem within a few minutes and said he needed to order the part. He told us that it would take a few days to get the part and it did. He repaired the machine with the new part and all is well now and I am happily doing laundry! Benjamin was very polite, seemed to know exactly what he was doing and I would recommend him anytime!

From the design stage - where Noah took immense interest and came up with lots of helpful ideas - through demolition and reconstruction - swinging with the punches as the unexpected inevitably appeared, and coming up with creative solutions when needed - the process was as stress free as we could have hoped.The Matthews team is highly skilled and great communicators. They went out of their way to clean up every day and were always courteous and professional.We are thrilled with the result, not only does our new kitchen look great but also we know the project was done to the highest standard. Our gas fireplace was not lighting so we called Bud Matthews. They sent their tech Kenna out. He was very efficient and polite. After checking the system out he found that the switch for the gas was stuck and was not letting gas through it. He got it loose and hit the igniter and got it working. Very pleased with the work and we will use Bud Matthews again and I strongly recommend them.

The young man whose name is Luis has been to my house a few times and will be back Im sure. Benjamin was fantastic. BMS was quick to schedule our service appointment after we called to make the appointment and he arrived well within the agreed upon window. He was so professional and kind, and even clearly answered all the questions I had in trying to understand our broken fridge. He easily repaired our fridge and was even kind to my dog and chickens in the process. We will definitely be using BMS in the future.

Short version: Pat couldve swindled the heck out of us; instead he saved us at least $600. I was so impressed with his honesty, that my husband and I have reached out to Bud Matthews to do renovations to our bathrooms. Pat was also friendly and on time.Long version: Purchased this home a few months ago, and the HVAC unit was running noisy. Pat came to look at our HVAC and when he determined it would need replacement parts, he pointed out that it was a unit that was likely under warranty (5 years old). He called the manufacturer, read off serial numbers and arranged for the new parts to be sent because they were indeed under warranty. He could have easily pulled a fast one and charged us for new parts and we would have been none the wiser. Instead we paid for labor and freight only. Im grateful for Pat going that extra mile.

Had a heating unit located in the attic replaced. Kenna and Luke did a great job removing the old unit and installing the new unit. They were very careful to not damage the walls and floors while moving the equipment up and down the stairs. They worked efficiently and professionally throughout the install. Will report back here if there are any issues with the functioning of the new equipment once the inspection has been completed and the weather turns cold enough to use the new unit.

We always get too-notch service with such helpful people such as Nick. He also gave me suggestions on how to deal with replacing our very old kitchen faucets. He quickly determined the problem with the burner on the stove and was able to find the appropriate part on the truck. He located the correct breaker to turn off the power, replaced the part with confidence and turned the breaker back on. He checked the work he had done, made sure all the other burners still worked and reset the clock on the stove. A very pleasant guy and good worker. I would recommend.

Im delighted to recommend the Bud Matthews company. My GE dryer which is about 15 years old was making a very loud noise and I seemed to be stripping the start dial. However, it was still drying well. A plumber happened to be working in my kitchen when I bemoaned the fact that I could not find an appliance repair company who will service GEproducts. He, thankfully, suggested Bud Matthews Services.The young man who serviced my dryer was both cordial and professional. He did find a few things which needed to be lubricated and installed a temporary knob on my starter. Having relocated, I no longer could find my owners manual or the Model number for the machine. My lint filter had become clogged in a few spots so I asked if he could order a new one for me. Because of the numbers on the filter, he was able to determine which machines used the parts and was able to order them.Also, the company called me this morning and allowed me to make the decision regarding purchasing the parts. We anticipate that it will dry our clothes for many more years. We dont like to throw things out just because they are old and it becomes difficult to find parts.
