I wanted to convert a spare room into my full time office so I google searched for Boulder Carpenters.Since I am a retired MD and wanted to have a classy and comfortable office and I knew I needed a highly qualified and experiened carpenter in Boulder.I worked closely with Steve to design and then build the entire office.I showed Steve photos from a book on Victorian Style Room designs and he helped me sketch the design and size the features for the room specifically with the wainscoting.I also worked with Steve to design and build the computer cabinet.Steve went to mill shops and brought me several samples of moldings for me to pick from.As you can see in the pictures his work is excellent. He put in custom cabinets with doors, shelves, and all of the crown molding and wainscotting and did the fine finish carpentry work.I was so pleased with his work that I hired him to do other handyman work around the house and in the barn. One of the things he did was source, purchase and hang a really high quality heavy duty door.He also did a complete repair and refurbish of my original Flexible Flyer sled that my grandkids accidentally damaged - which was very sentimental to me.I heartily recommend Steve to others who need custom finish carpentry work and anything else custom in their home. Hes a great all-round handy man too. -

Steve changed the front door from a left hand swing to a right hand swing. This is so much better for the entry space at our house. He did the work quickly and efficiently. He was able to re-chisel the door hinges and switch the orientation saving us the cost of a new front door. We are so much happier now coming in and out of our house. I would recommend using Steve because we thought wed need a new door and he saved us that cost. Steve told us that hes a door hanging expert and has hung over 200 in his career. Having tried to re-hang one myself ages ago I know how difficult they can be which is why I hired Steve. He drilled and hung this one so that it swings perfectly. Thanks Steve! His motto is carpentry work done right, fairly. And he was fair with us, helping us to save money while delivering excellent work. -

Steve has done quite a bit of work for us over the years. We have a lot of books! Weveasked Steve several times to build bookshelves for us. Last count that was five. Fourwere straightforward bookshelves. The fifth is a work of art. We sketched out a designfor a large array of shelves and alcoves that would hang on the wall of our stairwell. Andthere it hangs, a beautiful addition to our house and a conversation piece at that. A onepiece object, it fit perfectly into the space, albeit with a strenuous and somewhatharrowing process of lifting it up there and screwing it into place. Its one of a kind andbeautiful.Steve also did a lot of work hanging doors, doing trim-work and building shelves in thehouse we bought a few years ago. The work was excellent, especially considering thata lot of it was fussy and unorthodox and requiring a good bit of figuring.I would add that Steve loves wood, and trees. Hes done some very creative work withvarious kinds of wood. He gave us a beautiful gift for our wedding--a juniper woodsculpture. He knows his stuff and hes a pleasure to work with. We heartily recommendhim. -

My father paid Steve to rebuild our staircase because I did not feel safe on the old, rickety staircase that we currently had. He did a great job, I love the build quality. The new staircase is very modern. I feel safe on the stairs now. I would recommend Steve to anyone looking for quality carpentry. -

Steve did my stairs in all oak. They were rickety and squeaky. But not any more. Solid, nicely finished. Zero squeaks! I love em. Put in a great handrail, too. All along he kept asking me how I wanted the details and fed me information on what my options were so that I could choose well. He also helped me put in the maple hardwood floors in the master bedroom with a custom band around the edge and other beautiful details in the closets. Definitely recommend him for stair and finish carpentry work and he works for a fair price.
