I was extremely pleased with my experience with Matthews! I was getting some small water leakage into my basement and wanted to make sure it didnt signal a bigger issue. Max was out exactly when hed said hed be, was extremely friendly, and was honest about my problem not being something serious. He could have taken the opportunity to scare me into a huge repair bill (and Ive had other companies do this to me with other home repairs) but he didnt and he even took the time to look over my drainage system and make recommendations that can help, even though he knew it wasnt a big enough project for Matthews.But what REALLY impressed me was the next day. I had called Matthews shortly after Max left, because I realized Id give him some incorrect measurements related to a repair that was done prior to me purchasing the home and wanted to make sure it didnt change his recommendations at all. I honestly wasnt sure if Id hear back, because at that point he knew he wasnt going to have a sale. But FIRST thing the next morning he called me back and reassured me that his recommendations still stood, and that as far as he could see everything was in working order. I cant express how much this impresses me. I would recommend Matthews (ask for Max!) to ANYONE having moisture or foundation issues. It is so hard to find honest people who will tell you what you actually need to pay for when it comes to home repairs, and Matthews does business right. I wont be able to use Matthews for the type of work I need done, but I would go out of my way to use them in the future if I ever needed work done, and would recommend them to my loved ones in a heartbeat.

Max with Matthews Wall Anchor is HIGHLY recommended!We needed someone to come out to look at an investment property my husband and I were interested in buying. Our concern was the foundation, and since we had no idea what we were looking at, we called Matthews.Max was super responsive in contacting us and patiently listened to our concern over the phone.Max came out to assess the walls in the basement and was honest in his opinions. He thoroughly explained the issues he saw in a way that was easy to understand. He was very pleasant and pointed out things we would have never noticed.Max was patient and kind while we requested an array of options and the costs associated with it.In the end, we are so thankful that Max saved us from making a big mistake purchasing the property. Although the prices quoted to fix the issues seemed more than fair, we decided the foundation was too far gone and that the return on investment just wasn’t there for us to move forward with the purchase.I will definitely be calling Matthews again when we come across another property that needs a professional opinion and requesting Max, specifically.

I just met with Max Echard to get an estimate on resolving my basement wall. I am extremely impressed with his expertise and his honesty. I had previously hired a structural engineer to guide me in the right direction, and Max confirmed almost word for word what the engineer recommended (unlike another company who advised a $50,000 solution!). Unfortunately, although the engineer referred me to Matthews, I learned from Max that they dont do this kind of work. If I find I need foundation work, Matthews is the only company I will consider. My advice is not to go with the companies who advertise on tv!

I called James from Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing to find out more information about a sump pump and French drain. James was very knowledgeable and helpful. He took it one step further to figure out if the sump pump in question was installed by them to see if it was warranted and gave recommendations on what to do if not. I appreciate his fair honest opinions and would use him should I run into any other problems that the company services.

MATTHEWS is the best you can get for your money!Had water coming in the front of my basement wall. Old owners put a trench around the perimeter of the basement to a sump pit, but water was still leaking through the wall onto the floor.Rich came out, looked at the issue and gave me a reasonable quote for the work being completed. Said they would even remove the trench and give me more space in my basement! Work scheduled for about a month later.I forgot the foreman and the workers names who came but they were the best. Found out I have a monolithic floor and the French drain system was not recommended. They switched course to a baseboard style system with weeping holes in the wall. Work was completed in two days professionally done and they cleaned up after themselves.Heavy rains have passed through the region and MY BASEMENT IS BONE DRY! Thank you Matthew’s

I cant say enough about my positive experience with Max today. He spent a solid 45 minutes looking all around the foundation, walls and basement of my house and explaining possibilities and scenarios. I learned a lot, and he didnt try to sell me anything at all, though he did give me pointers and a rough estimate of cost should I choose to pursue foundation repair and wall anchors. He said I likely need them but that a good structural engineer may say otherwise and to get a good eval since my house has numerous issues. I am grateful for an honest, competent, knowledgeable evaluation today. Im no dummy, but some people will come in and try to sell you big jobs you dont need, and thank God, Russ didnt waste my time with that nonsense. Highly recommend and will definitely use Matthews if/when I need their services.

8/16/2022IF YOU HAVE WATER ISSUES IN YOUR BASEMENT, DEFINITELY ONLY USE MATTHEWS WALL ANCHOR & WATERPROOFING!!Our son purchased a house on a quick sale and at a good price from acquaintances needing to sell quickly. He has been in the house for a year and a half and has noticed some cracks and other issues. He needs new windows and a new roof, so he had Max from Matthews Wall Anchor come out to see if the house needs attention before spending money on a roof and new windows. He lasered all the walls inside and out finding ever so slight (1/8) variances on a full wall. After the total inspection he told us he is on commission and would love to quote and sell our son, services but he had to give his house a clean bill of health and would buy his house in a second with no problem! Max also added that if another company indicates that ADAM needs ANY work at all done, they are ripping him off!!So, for a second opinion, we called Bakers Waterproofing. They came out and the guy admitted that the laser he had was not his and that he wasnt sure how to use it. He then looked at our sons house, lasered it and said there were a lot of problems! He said they would need to remove his front porch to add piers, and more piers for a total of 26 piers! All totaled, he said it would come to $50,000 and to be quick about it because the roof could split the house in half at ANY time!!! If our son signed a contract today, he could arrange a 10% discount but only available until the end of the month which was just a few days later.The disparity in opinions was SOOO great, that we called an independent engineering company to come and evaluate both opinions. Not surprisingly, he agreed with Matthews Wall Anchor and that the house was sound and was not in need of ANY of the services required by Bakers Waterproofing! The engineering firm (also a great reputable company) did not charge their full fee (60% discount) because of the huge difference in evaluation of the SAME house!!SO, DO NOT FOR ANY REASON USE THE NEWLY PURCHASED BAKERS WATERPROOFING TO COME TO YOUR HOUSETO DO ANYTHING!!

We were in the process of purchasing our home, when upon inspection a suspicious crack was noted along the garage wall--we hired a structural engineer who recommended 8 wall anchors spanning the width of the front of the house. We were in negotiations with the seller at this point and had a tight deadline in which to get an estimate--Matthews Wall Anchor was very responsive, and David Foster was able to schedule an estimate within the same day that I called. David was very thorough and clearly explained what needed to be done and why, and also echoed the recommendations made by the structural engineer. David was also extremely professional and considerate in what was a rather awkward situation as a homebuyer vs the seller and her agent who were also present during the estimate.We moved forward with purchasing our home and were able to schedule within a few weeks of moving in. John H and Billy installed the wall anchors; the installation went smoothly and both John and Billy were very professional, clean, and thorough--we can barely tell where our front yard was dug up during the installation!What could have been a very stressful burden to a new homebuyer/owner turned out to be a very seamless and positive experience thanks to everyone who worked with us at Matthews. My wife and I have a typical Pittsburgh garage, built on a hill side and we were afraid it might be sinking. We contacted Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing Services and I cant say enough good things about them. First of all, we got a call from a real human, not a series of robots/automated emails, and they were able to come out and assess rather promptly (even on a Sunday). Max was the gentleman who came out and met us. He was honest and straight to the point. When he saw our garage, he was worried he might have bad news for us, but he assessed the situation and it turned out the damage wasnt as we expected. He explained what we could do should we want to reinforce our garage, but was completely honest about the condition and said it wasnt necessary. He also took the time to explain things to us about the foundation on our house and work that he could tell had been previously done. He didnt try to sell us anything we didnt need and was refreshingly honest and genuine. As two women who know nothing about foundation repair, he easily could have taken advantage of us, but he didnt. Given the integrity of the business, I wouldnt hesitate to use them for all our future foundation needs. Very pleased with the service he provided.

The installation team just left our home. They were a really good group of guys - very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, personable, took time to explain things nicely, and they all talked with our 3 year old about the tools and what they did a little bit. I was really impressed with them as people, and they seemed to work hard. As for the repair and materials, they seem to be of good quality. The consultation and bid were a smooth process, the pricing is very reasonable, communication from the company was professional and timely, and overall so far, its been an easy, hassle-free process.

We have a small water issue with our basement and wasnt sure of the extent. We called Matthews to come and take a look. Max was very responsive and made an appointment for us right away. He was on time and went right to work inspecting our property. He is very knowledgeable on structure and water issues. Our issue is not major and he suggested we remedy it with grading and call him back if the issue persists. His honesty is commendable! He could have easily sold us a very expensive drainage system that may be completely unnecessary in the long run. We will address the grading and call him back if we end up needing more work. I highly recommend Matthews for any water issues. You can be certain you will be advised honestly and if repairs are recommended they are for your good and not Matthews!!

I recently had the opportunity to meet with Max Echard. He was very professional and I greatly appreciated his honesty. I was getting a little amount of water in my basement and was told by a contractor that I might have a crack in my foundation. $$$$. Max looked at the problem and told me that he thought the water was coming from by window wells.He suggested putting on a well cover and see if that would help. Matthews Wall and Anchor is your go to company if you are having water issues in your basement. They dont try to rip you off like so many other companies out there. I would highly recommend them. Max even gave me his card and said that if I had any questions to feel free to call him.Excellent customer service !!!

Foundation Specialist, Max, was extremely thorough in his evaluation of our leak in the basement. He did a full assessment and tracked the possible cause through our entire house, explaining everything as he went. Really appreciate that rather than just automatically jumping to an interior drain as a solution he took the time to find the potential cause of the leak and assess the problem, recommending some other solutions we could look into first before we dropped several thousand on the drain. I never felt pressured or like he had an agenda other than to give me an honest opinion and recommendations. Matthews was not the only company who came out to evaluate the problem but was the only one to approach it from an assessment standpoint. Definitely built a foundation of trust!!

Max came out to look at my foundation after a sales guy from another company scared the pants off me trying to make a quick buck. He came out and gave me an honest summary of what was going on with my house and that it wasnt about to fall over and that it wasnt something that my wife and I needed to take out a second mortgage to get done, even though he was not nailing down a sale because of it. Much more honest of a sales person and definitely more trustworthy, any work I need done with my foundation Ill be going through Max with Matthews Wall Anchor.

We had a cracked wall in a house we were going to purchase, so we called Matthews and asked if they would assess if it was an issue that needed immediate repair. They sent Dave Foster the next afternoon. Dave was great, he explained what he was doing every step of the way. He told us that the movement of the wall was well below the point where it would be considered a problem that needed repaired. In the event it became a problem in the future, he explained how they would fix it and he gave us a quote. Dave was prompt, thorough, professional, and above all honest. I recently contacted Matthews for an estimate regarding a damp crawl space. Max scheduled my appointment immediately and was accommodating to my schedule. When he arrived at the property, Max was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Although he was unable to service the crawl space because it was too small, he was extremely helpful and provided me with useful information. I would certainly call him for any future projects.

In short:-highly recommend-honest (way more honest than Keystone)-Good price-Seemed to do a good job-Left everything very neat and tidyIn long:Cant recommend Matthews highly enough. Max Echard came out to do the initial inspection when we had questions about a bowing wall and water in the basement of our newly purchased older home. He said Matthews could fix the bow in the wall with wall anchors, but recommended trying a few fixes to address the water in the basement before doing anything drastic. He told us to check our gutters and downspouts and to adjust the grade in the backyard so water flows away from the house. He also said to keep an eye on things and make sure the water isnt coming from the boiler, windows, etc. before panicking and doing something expensive. (This good advice was given honestly and maybe at the cost of additional business as Matthews doesnt do any of these things) Max said it would be a shame to waste thousands of dollars on an internal French drain when the problem may be fixed in a less expensive way. I appreciated the honesty.We decided to go for the wall anchors which I prefer to other options as they will actually straighten the bowing wall.I got quotes from both Matthews and KeyStone and Matthews came in with a much better price. More importantly, they didnt push me for services I didnt need. KeyStone sent a salesman instead of an actual foundation specialist. The Keystone representative only wanted to sell me an internal French drain for 20k that would require tearing up the floors along one whole side of my house. The Keystone rep was not interested in listening to my questions and probably couldnt answer them anyway. Keystone recommended carbon fiber straps that would not straighten the wall, but would only prevent further bowing. The carbon fiber straps were more expensive than the anchors recommended by Matthews. GO WITH MATTHEWS! They will not push a project on you if you dont really need it, and they will give you a better price for what you do need.The Mathews guys installed the anchors first thing in the morning. I really appreciated that they did their best to patch the holes they dug on the side of the house by carefully placing the grass back in place. I could barely tell the holes were dug at all. They also did a nice job patching the concrete they needed to cut on the other side.

We had heard Matthews ads on the radio, so decided to give them a call to see what the process would be like to fix.Max came out within 2 days of our call for an inspection. He clearly explained to us what we needed to get done, how the process would work, and what we should expect. He was very thorough, and made it very easy to speak to. A few days later, he followed up to see if we had any questions or if we needed anything additional. It was very hassle free.

Dave Foster arrived on time and with a smile. After greeting us he immediately got work to inspecting our bowed wall. Because of the hillside facing the wall, Dave informed us that our situation is beyond anything Matthews could do with their anchor system without extreme excavation. He was genuinely saddened that he could not help unless we excavated, but he didnt hesitate to offer solutions, including a wall rebuild. He even recommended sources that could help. I was impressed with Daves professionalism, but even more-so with his honesty, friendliness and kindness.

I had the nicest experience meeting with Max this morning to discuss solutions for my personal water problem. He was very professional and spent almost two hours explaining their process and did not place any pressure to sign their contracts. Needless to say, I did sign the contracts and look forward to scheduling the work to be done in the near future.

The MWAS rep came to my house and assessed the damage to my garage walls. Within a few minutes he told me it was beyond their capabliites, it was pretty bad. They guarantee their work for 50 YEARS and the rep (Max) told me that they would not be able to guarantee the work for that and that they would not be able to help.I REALLY APPRECIATED this because it was honest. Other vendors had stated that they could attempt to do the work but I could see where that would go. THANK YOU Max and Mathews Wall anchor Service.It was a GREAT EXPERIENCE even thought they could not help me.Max also recommended some alternatives that would at least stabilize the walls for a while as well as a solution to replace it systematically.Thank you Max!

Max Echard , the Mathews Wall Anchor south hills area company representative evaluated our basement wall damage with mold. House Is in an estate due to death of the owner and we wanted to properly evaluate problem with a solution prior to selling . Max was profession, on time, and honest. He evaluated the basement wall and external wall. Listened to my story with downspout not properly lined up in the area above the basement wall damage . Also, informed him all gutters were clogged and that we had water walls from 2nd floor all over house prior to 1 week ago after the gutters were cleaned. . He was very honest and felt issue from the poorly aligned gutter and blocked gutters. He did not feel any other remediation necessary. Told me to call if any other issues once that was corrected and he would gladly reevaluate. Also, felt the structure and wall was solid and perfectly intact. Highly recommend !!!

John Ott came out to write up an estimate for leveling my addition. I believed it was needed due to being mined under a year ago. Although it does not appear to be leaning, I had reason to believe it could be about an inch lower on the back side.He explained the process to me and how they would perform it for my need and then he set up his laser level and checked both sides of the addition. We then went into the finished crawl space and he checked there. His evaluation was that there was really no drop, or very, very little if any, and wouldnt recommend any repair.I offered to pay for the evaluation but he said the estimate was free.I really, really appreciated his honest response and would gladly recommend them to anyone needing their services. I know I wont think twice, to contact them if I do need them in the future. Thanks John!!

This business is incredibly available, responsive, and has flawless follow-through when they say they will do something - sadly, almost oxymoronic qualities when dealing with contractors. James also possessed these qualities and beyond that, additionally was professional, punctual, honest, and an incredibly likable person. His lack of misleading sales tactics combined with factual advice was incredibly refreshing. James defines being an asset to a company.

He took the appropriate measurements and explained to me what he was doing along the way. Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing Services is the gold standard by which all businesses should be evaluated. Several days ago I had another waterproofing company rep come to my house. After five hours he pretty much convinced my wife and I that our foundation was in serious/urgent need of repair and thus we signed a contract for nearly fourteen thousand dollars of repair work. But something didnt feel right. He was an experienced high pressure salesman, and I wondered if things were as bad as he made them out to be.I called a friend, who is a local contractor and explained the situation to him. He suggested I contact Matthews Wall Anchor since he had heard only good things about the quality of work that they do and they honesty.I contacted Matthews and the following day Dave came out to take a look and provide me with an evaluation. Dave checked out the basement and determined that I do not need any of the extensive work the other sales rep claimed that I needed. Dave was professional, informed and above all HONEST. He could have played off of the other sales rep and tried to sell me his own waterproofing system, but because he was honest, he said that he didnt think the basement needed a waterproofing system.It is rare these days to find someone who will give you an honest evaluation instead of trying to make a buck.Thank you Dave and thank you Matthews Wall Anchor & Waterproofing Services.In the future, if I or any of my neighbors needs a waterproofing system, I will be certain to recommend that they contact Matthews first.

I called Matthews to assess our garage for a bowing wall. Max came out and could immediately tell that we wouldnt be able to use wall anchors to fix the issue. Even though he wouldnt be getting business, Max stayed and talked through a variety of solutions we could look into to address the problem.
