From the design meeting to construction day and all through the entire renovation, Zen Owner, designer, Foreman, and Construction crew were fabulous from day 1 to the very last day. I literally have nothing but praises for this company. Romi Prados, our designer, brought my vision to life in just one meeting. She is extremely perceptive of your needs and desires and brings both elements together as if it was effortless. Peter Etherington, communicated weekly and I always felt up to date and taken care of. The foreman was always communicative and the crew was so considerate, it was like they were not even here. They kept our home clean during the entire process and always ensured to never leave without cleaning up at the end of the day. The work is in the photos. Literally the most perfect bathroom I never thought I would have and it was brought to life. These guys were perfectionists and I was grateful. Thank you Zen Renovations for my favorite place on earth. You have ruined me forever. I will never look forward to any hotel, Villa, or Vacation stay again. We left for our first vacation in 7 years and all I could think about was getting back to the beautiful place Zen helped bring into our home. Which brings me to the last thing. Without even asking or paying for it, they repainted our entire master bedroom so we could continue the zen feel into the bedroom. And just when you think they did enough, they go above and beyond and contact us to correct any settling that might have happened after the renovation. They have the best attention to detail I have ever experienced and it was so refreshing after dealing with so many other horrible contractors in our past. The team at Zen Construction are wonderful professionals from the first consultation to the final walk through. They are creative, considerate, and available to answer any question, no matter how small. When they ran into unexpected issues ( old house!) they came to me right away and worked with me to find solutions and alternatives within my budget. The crews were always on time, and worked through terrible weather to stay on schedule. I lived in the house during renovations and they were consistently considerate and left the worksite immaculate every evening. No detail was too small for their attention: the crew moved a heavy piece of furniture for me and then even “shimmed” it to be level in my ( old house) sloping floor. Cannot recommend Zen enough!

I’m currently working with Zen Renovations on a few projects in my home including a full bathroom and powder room renovation, a custom built in clothes closet, front porch tiling and a few other small tasks. The bathrooms are done and they are breathtaking! Every detail between communication back and forth, planning, design (Jennifer is beyond talented and has nailed my design style) and install the process has been smooth and seamless. We didn’t move out of our home during this project and the courteous team made it very easy and comfortable for us to be home while they work. They brought in experts for each phase of the job (plumbing, tiling, etc) and the quality shows! I’m grateful I found Zen Renovations and I would highly recommend them!

We worked with Zen to transform a condo from top to bottom, from a tired 80s rundown to a sparkling modern sleek beauty. The work involved taking out walls, floors, custom kitchen, custom baths, and a whole host of changes throughout. I am attaching some before and after pictures to provide a sense of scope. This was done during the pandemic and in a high rise, making it a complicated project. The Zen team was highly professional, resourceful and responsive, especially lead designer/manager Kristy and lead carpenter Christian.

The Zen team renovated a bathroom that had very old plumbing and a few hidden conditions (a rotted joist) that are common in older DC homes. The communication about design choices, project schedule and required change orders was clear and timely. I work from home and have a toddler so they kept the house very clean throughout demo and construction. Most importantly, the quality of work is impressive and it is evident that each team member takes pride in their work and enjoys what they do. As an example, we wanted to maintain the historical charm of the bathroom - so rather than swap out the old non-functional bathroom door for a new modern one they found the same style of door at a salvage shop and restored it with a fresh coat of paint and functional doorknob and lock. This was above and beyond my expectations. We already hired Zen again for our next project.

We worked with Kevin and the team at Zen on a major renovation to our 1920s house, which added a second story with three bedrooms and a bath as well as a new roof, HVAC, siding, and structural work to the main part of the house. Throughout the project, the Zen team was professional, did amazing work, and was a pleasure to work with. Like any major project to an old house, there were some surprises along the way, but Kevin and the team did a good job of laying out various options and communicating the pros and cons of each path. Of all the new rooms in the house, everyone’s favorite seems to be the upstairs bathroom for the kids. The team did flawless work on the tiling, was solid with the plumbing, and framed out all of the nooks and towel bars to ensure strong backing. They added a skylight for good measure and separate spaces for the shower and a water closet. I would definitely recommend Zen for both smallish projects and large ones.

Planning a home improvement is both exciting and exhausting. It can also be overwhelming if you don’t have the right partner. I am happy I decided to work with Zen Renovations for my kitchen remodeling. As one cannot perfectly plan for any project, Zen Renovations staff are there to fill in the gaps. The crew are very quick to inform the me of any issues or changes that may be required based on new challenges. The staff made suggestions and worked with me to implement changes to keep the kitchen suitable to my needs and stay consistent with the original vision of the design.I enjoyed working with Zen Renovations. They are very professional and thorough. The quality of work is excellent and their commitment to customer service is outstanding. Even after the project is completed!

Zen Renovations did a wonderful job for us. We wanted to be able to have a view of our backyard from the kitchen. In order to accomplish this Zen Renovations redesigned our kitchen, removed part of the wall between the kitchen and the family room and put in a new kitchen island. As part of our home renewal they also installed a new LVP floor throughout the first floor of our house. We can’t say enough about the craftsmanship and professionalism of their crew. They did very complicated work of cutting and reinstalling our granite counter top and matching existing cabinets. Also they did the work within their timeframe of 3 weeks! We are very happy and highly recommend them.

Our recent unanticipated kitchen renovation was a result of damage from a leaking refrigerator. Zen Renovations was one of several firms we interviewed as we sought a team capable of not only restoring the room but updating all to a greater quality. They delivered! While the footprint of the room was unchanged, we replaced the existing Crystal cabinets with all new custom-painted Keyline inset, moved and replaced all appliances, and did minor structural changes. The work was scheduled in coordination with replacement of the damaged hardwood floor in the kitchen and refinishing the entire first level floors to match. From demo-day to using the kitchen was 4 weeks! The Zen team was extraordinary: design expertise, project management and scheduling the work to minimize household disruption, impeccable attention to detail from the skilled craftsman whom we conversed with by name, daily tidying so we could move freely in the house each evening and weekends. Communication and administrative aspects were easy – Kevin was available and responsive to any issues that came up. We are enjoying our beautiful kitchen and delight in the compliments we receive.

I’m happy to give a glowing review about Zen Renovations. Our bathroom renovation was our first big home renovation project and everyone at Zen made it pleasant and seamless. We are completely in love with our bathroom.The big things that stood out for us were:1) communication - they were always easy to get a hold of and they kept us informed every step of the way.2) we felt very taken care of. Our toilet arrived from the supplier broken and they handled all the reordering and making sure everything got to our home in time and ready for each stage of the process.3) the crew is so conscientious, friendly and talented. They made us feel at ease with having other people in our home and were even great with our dog.4) any changes in plan that came up were thoroughly explained and they always had a solution that sometimes worked out even better than the original plan. It was tough with a small bathroom so the team had some great creative solutions.We knew we wanted a vintage-esque aesthetic but didnt know the specifics. We made a pinterest board of things we liked and shared that with them plus our overall themes. From the project manager to the tile rep, Zen really helped guide us and offer suggestions and once we picked out the big things like the vanity everything fell into place from there. They also put photos of everything into a nice pdf so we could see it all together and envision it. Overall Id say they are open to however much or little guidance youd like with design.

The team completed high quality work, within our budget, and ahead of schedule. Throughout the process any questions or concerns we had were thoroughly and expeditiously addressed. We are extremely happy with the final result of the project and would be quick to recommend Zen to others.

The Zen Renovations team did a full ground floor remodel of our house, which included expanding the kitchen to an open model concept and entirely replacing the existing cabinetry, appliances, and tile; replacing hardwood floors; replacing windows; replacing doors; and putting in new lighting. They worked with us throughout the design process, provided realistic inputs and talked us out of some limiting decisions. They built, and were forthright about, a timeline that accounted for significant supply chain issues beyond their control, and were communicative throughout the entire project. Their team, from project managers to craftsmen, were professional and attentive and met the standards they set for themselves from the start. We’re extremely satisfied with the results, and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Zen Renovations helped us plan and then carried out in 2021 a full kitchen-dining room remodel in our 1930s Cape Cod. The entire team, from the owner, project manager/designer, to the various trades and workers they managed, were professional, diligent, and considerate. We had a challenging problem with two load-bearing walls, one of which we wanted removed. Zen did the engineering analysis and replaced it with an LVL beam, resulting in a delightfully open and much larger space. They planned and executed in a timely manner even with supply-chain issues caused by the pandemic. We highly recommend Zen Renovations.
