    Russell and the team breathed incredible life into my old ‘95 Class B van/RV. They added a beautiful cedar ceiling with warm dimmable LEDs, a Maxx Air two-way fan, and hooked the original shore power & generator-run system into a brand new solar setup. Made this old girl into a perfect off grid setup and we haven’t looked back.I’ve been with Russell since he started the business and couldn’t ask for a more honest and genuinely caring team to look after my baby.They recently got me back onto their schedule on super short notice after I’d worked with another company that couldn’t quite figure out how to make heads or tails of my rig. Russell figured it out in a day and had us right back on the road.If you’re thinking about a new build, or want to tweak your current rig and you’re not sure where to start, I recommend you reach out and chat with Russell. He continues to be a great resource for us and I’m grateful we get to work with him and his team.

    I am so thankful i had Russell and Budget Builds install a heater in my sprinter van. Russell was extremely communicative and accommodating from the start. I was only visiting here in Portland for a few weeks, and was fit into their schedule. The heater works great and looking forward to using it.     I needed someone to fix my webasto diesel heater in my sprinter van and i called several places in Portland but Russell was the only one who not only returned my call but was very prompt in his responses and so willing to help me out with such a small problem. He was very efficient in his approach in figuring out the issue and being mindful of the labour time so i wouldn’t be stuck with a large bill. As a woman travelling full time, i’ve encountered a few companies who want to take advantage of my inexperience but Russell was respectful and fair, most of all very knowledgeable! i would highly recommend this company!

    Russel and his team did a number of things to my van ranging from swivel seats, solar, roof rack and latter, superpower and more.There were some issues with the work completed but Russel went the extra mile to work with me to make them right. I appreciate the collaboration. Even though a few things didnt come out right the first time, at the end of the day, I got some awesome upgrades to my van. Russel went above and beyond to communicate and send pictures showing the progress. Thank you.

    Highly recommend Budget Builds PDX. Russel was amazing to work with, making the whole process smooth and easy for me. I’m so grateful I found his shop. Russel has excellent knowledge about the product and build, is honest, communicative, and has high quality work. He gave me updates throughout the entire process, including pictures.I bought a converted skoolie and he did a beautiful job of adding an A/C unit, extra battery, updating the wire to the proper gauge, a D/C to D/C converter, installing a water heater, solar panel, and other small necessities. He even bundled all the loose wires together, making my skoolie look super fresh and clean inside.I’m very happy with the results, cost, and will definitely be going back in the future.     Purchased a blank slate 2013 Ford Transit Connect van to convert to a camper and realized that it wasnt realistic for me to do it on my own. I found Budget Builds PDX after going back and forth with a couple other businesses and getting nowhere because they only wanted to work on specific vehicles (Sprinters/Promasters/full size Transits) and/or were booked out for the foreseeable future. Russell responded very quickly and went through specific options with me, both via email and over the phone, based on my description of how I envisioned Id be using the van. He was able to start work early and deliver the finished product on schedule, despite a couple mid-project scope changes, which given the market right now is remarkable. Glad to recommend this business!

    Our Camper Van aka Big Blue needed cabinetry, another water tank, a broken window replacement and a Victron DC to DC charger. Russel did a good job, sent us pictures of the progression, was comunicative, supportive and had solutions for problems.

    Russell and the Budget Builds crew did an incredible job on my Promaster! I got this van with the hopes to build it myself but with no time to work on it, I found Russell. Russell worked with me within my budget to build the perfect van. The attention to detail and finish work is amazing and exceeded my high expectations at a fraction of the cost of any other company I talked to. Russell was also really personable and kept me up to date with progress pictures regularly and phone calls to make big decisions weekly. I felt like I was helping with the build throughout the process. Russell is a great guy and really good at what he does so if you need a build done of any sorts I highly recommend budget builds for it. I’ve seen a lot of custom builds but the quality of the build done for me is by far one of the best I’ve seen. You really can’t go wrong here.

    Russell and his team just completed an amazing full conversion of my 1995 Toyota Hiace and it is gorgeous. Russell is great to work with and is very good communicator. He has great ideas along with excellent execution. I could not be happier with my beautiful van!

    I hired Russell and his team to build and wire in the electrical system in my 2022 Ram Promaster after another Portland builder botched it terribly. Russell and his team were easy to work with, accommodating and flexible, helping to create a custom system and layout that would meet my specific needs. I had been living in a different van for two years prior to this and had very specific requests and knew exactly what I wanted - Russell and his team made sure all of these little details were just right and has been extremely helpful with the few questions I had for him after pickup. I would not hesitate to hire Budget Builds PDX again for anything van related and highly recommend working with them.

    Russell (the owner) makes housecalls! For just $99 bucks, hell come to you and your rig. I did the computation; that is less than two Uber rides that it would have taken for me to have brought my van in and left it and then come back and picked it up another day. I wish I would have taken my van to Russell first to install the roof fan; instead I tried a local RV repair place. They sat on my van for a week and didnt do anything to it. So I went and got it back from them with no work done. Russell said he could come out in a mere a few days, and his hourly rate ended up (considering the hours he put in) being quite a bit less than the RV place. He also gave me a lot of #vanlife advice for free! Russell will do projects à la carte to your van. I expect to be hiring Russell again for future projects, Im sure.

    Russell is five stars! I contacted Budget Build about installing a swivel seat before a two week van trip. Not only did he have the parts in stock, he was able to fit the install in aWeek later. Drop off and pick up is super easy and at your convenience. I can’t recommend Budget Build enough and will be using them for other installs. Thank you!

    We finished our ceiling, upgraded our electrical system through Budget Builds PDX and added an AC unit to our van. The system works great and the AC is a great investment! Russell was helpful in explaining our options throughout the build and worked with us to ensure we were set up correctly. Communication was great and the project was completed in a timely fashion. We are happy with the end result!

    Bought a used van with failing batteries and reached out to Russell to have them replaced with lithium. We were on a time crunch because we were heading to the Midwest. Russell got the batteries in fast and did a great job with install. If I’m ever back in the Oregon area and need any work done or want a new total build I will be reaching out to him without a doubt. I hands down recommend him to anyone who needs anything done big or small. He knows his stuff.

    Russel is a good dude !Super responsive, shop is clean, safe, very pro.The work they are doing on the full builds is great- we had some minor exterior brackets installed perfectly on our Econoline. But Russel quickly discovered a couple other issues he could help us with. Next will be captain chairs!Thanks guys!

    Russel and Budget Builds are great. His communication was fantastic and very professional. He built a custom table for my van. When I picked it up it was a bit wobbly so Russell and I chatted and came up with a plan to get it stable. I live in Beaverton and told him I didnt want to come out to Troutdale again and needed my van. He volunteered to come to my house for the install. He showed up the next day and had it done in 45 min. I recommend Budget Builds as they are willing to do custom work at a fair price. Couple that with great communication and professionalism and its a win win!Thanks Russel.

    Budget Builds PDX did an excellent job outfitting a street outreach and mobile meeting van for our local homeless youth nonprofit. Russell was down to earth and easy to work with throughout the duration of the project, providing text updates whenever I asked for a status check. The development phase was very collaborative and Russell made a lot of really helpful suggestions about space utilization, color scheme, and accents. We were very pleased with the final product and will now be able to take our mobile office and basic needs supply closet to meet at-risk young people *literally* where they are at.     Amazing experience with Budget Builds PDX and Russell (business owner)! I found this company when we were in the process of searching for and buying our van and I was immediately sold on working with them based on the open communication and willingness to answer all of our questions from the moment we made contact! With their guidance, we were able to choose all of our specs and finishes and received photos and videos along the way. They went out of their way to ensure our van was ready in time for a trip we had planned, and communicated honestly and clearly along the way. The results are structurally solid and aesthetically beautiful! Phase 1 of our reno is complete and we’re already planning to continue developing our van with PDX Budget Builds! I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking get a high quality van build for a reasonable price.

    Russell and the Budget Builds PDX crew really knocked the ball out of the park with the rebuild of my older Ford Econoline! I couldnt be happier! In terms of professionalism and experience, Budget Builds is unparalleled. I struggle with a bit of OCD when it comes to details and Russell was able to put my mind at ease with his knowledge and carefully crafted build plan. Additionally, Budget Builds is very #vanlife friendly and know how to work within a doable budget. Not only was the quality of build exceptional, but we were even able to add on to my existing electrical system with an inverter charger that would be sure to keep my batteries fresh long into the future.
