    Jim and his co-worker at JDO did a great job with my electrical work. I wanted to bring my condo unit up to code and requested: (1) GFCI receptacle and breaker installation in kitchen and bathrooms (2) Dryer 4-prong receptacle, (3) removal of jerry-rigged receptacle. As a layman, I really appreciated the in-depth explanation and time provided to help me understand the scope of work and options to compromise cost and expediency. Additionally, he cleaned up any shavings left on the floor and secured the dryer plug receptacle better than it was before. He didnt have to do that, but as new owners, we really appreciate the extra effort. We hope to us JDO electric again in the future.

    Wow! JDO saved the day. I had some very tough electrical issues going on in a house that I was rehabbing. I needed to get them wrapped up quickly because the job would have stalled otherwise. I called JDO after calling 8 other places. 6 of which did not answer their phone and two that seemed like they had no idea what I was talking about. When I called, I got the owner personally. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and understood my crisis and urgency. He was concerned that there may be some danger of a fire. He immediately responded made the house safe and returned with his crew the very next day. Saved the day truly appreciate his response and he was very fairly priced. One of the nicest businesses Ive encountered in a very long time! 6 Stars! Thanks JDO

    Ive used Jim a couple of times now and hes easy to work with and does solid work. The biggest job was a new panel, EV charger, and service upgrade. His quote was reasonable and his apprentice was great. Id happily use JDO again in the future.

    JDO updated my all the wiring in my kitchen. It had not be updated in 55 years. He also helped me decide on new recessed lighting in the ceiling, under the cabinets, and over the sink. I love the new lighting. All the new lights have dimmers. My kitchen used to cast shadows, not anymore. He also installed the dishwasher and new range hood and a plug under the sink for the hands-free faucet. I was very happy with his work. He is very professional, efficient, neat, and an excellent electrician. His fees were reasonable and within the range of the other quotes I had obtained. I have used many electricians over the years, and JDO is one of the best.

    Working with Jim was splendid. He was very responsive and came out immediately. He scheduled to do the work immediately, since it was a fireplace insert and other contractors would follow. He pulled the permit and pointed out some other things that would raise issues with the town inspector.On the day of the job, our carpets and finished areas were protected, he documented everything for the inspector and left the house clean.His price was very reasonable. Ill be going back to Jim for other electrical work.

    Called JDO for installing a new outlet for a fireplace insert. Communication was excellent. Jim came quickly for a preinspection, explained the process clearly, and was ready to install the next business day. Prices were very reasonable, so we had additionally work (basement circuits, receptacles, repair on outdoor riser.) Work was completed quickly and neatly. JDO handled the inspection scheduling and everything passed (of course!) Working with Jim was a pleasure. Will be calling again in the future!

    Highly recommend! JDO Electric did a great job on two occasions at my home in Arlington this summer. First, Jim upgraded my 60 amp panel to 200 amps. Next, he installed recessed lights in the basement and added two outlets. On both occasions, he responded promptly with a written estimate and was able to start within a few days. He answers texts and calls right away. When he was finished, the site was all cleaned up. I will definitely call JDO Electric for my next project.

    Jim (the J in JDO Electric) recently helped me upgrade my panel to 200 amps and install outlets for a water heater and a stove. I really appreciated the level of communication both to coordinate work times around other work being done at my house (and my getting COVID days before he was supposed to start) and to make sure I had him doing the right work. He was always willing to stop and discuss what he was doing if I asked. After the work, he also stopped by during the city’s inspection. The work was very thorough and professional and done well and on time. I have full confidence in the work, and won’t hesitate to call him for future work. In the past 5 years he has also bailed us out of 2 separate situations where fallen branches tore the power lines off of our house. Both times I called multiple electricians and he was the quickest to call back (one was even on a weekend). He came out right away and got us up and running asap. Thanks Jim!

    I was referred to Jim for the electrical work needed to install a gas fireplace. Compared to the other electricians Id spoken with for this, he was AMAZING. He was so responsive, came to the house quickly, knew exactly what to do and gave a very reasonable price. When the cement/brick fireplace structure made running wires unexpectedly complicated, he was professional, focused and practical. He was such a pleasure to work with. I will be using him again for any electrical needs!

    I would highly recommend Jim and his team. We are having a gas fire insert installed and needed to run a new circuit from the main panel to the fireplace. As time was of the essence and we wanted as few visitors to the house as possible during this pandemic, Jim was able to give me an estimate based on photos he requested. He arrived at the appointed time and completed the work within a few hours. We were very impressed by the neatness of the finished work. The new cable ran discreetly through our basement and through the back of the chimney into the fireplace. He was very respectful of our property, laying down drop cloths for protection and cleaning up afterwards. We would definitely hire him for future work.

    Jimmy helped us troubleshoot why one of our light switches was no longer working - very small job, but he was responsive and extremely helpful! He and his apprentice, Chris, were professional, reasonably priced and very friendly. As a single woman, I felt very safe and comfortable working with them and they gave me tips to help troubleshoot issues in the future on my own without making me feel stupid. Great experience and will certainly be using them again if we need more work done!

    Jim wired our fireplace for a gas insert. He got back to us quickly when we had questions and was very accommodating.I have to mention that he completely covered our whit rug before he started👍.I will definitely call him again when we need an electrician.

    We have used JDO several times now, he upgraded our panel to 200 amps and has responded well to emergency situations. We had a leak into our panel a few years ago and most recently he repaired the service/wiring ripped from our house by a freight truck. We very much appreciated the emergency help. He is meticulous and by the book which is what you want when dealing with electricity in your home! We always recommend him to neighbors and friends. His prices are very fair too.

    Terrific work. I had a problem that I’d heard could take several hours to address (identifying the cause of a short circuit). Jim found and fixed the source of the problem in an hour. He explained things at every step of the way, and pointed me to where I could learn more. He let me know what work I might need done in the future, but wasn’t at all pushy. Pricing was very reasonable and he was clear about it upfront. Oh and did I mention, he took my call on Thanksgiving weekend and was able to come out that Monday. The next time I need an electrician, I will call Jim.

    If you need any electrical work, I highly recommend Jim de Oliveira of JDO Electric in Somerville. We were more than halfway through a kitchen renovation, when we needed to fire our contractor. We were very concerned about finding an electrician to finish the work. Jim came to take a look at what we needed to complete, gave us an estimate, and finished the work ahead of schedule. He also took care of changing the permits and dealing with the paperwork the city (Cambridge) required to change the permit, all seamlessly. Jim is extremely professional and is always on time and prepared to do the work. Jim and his team were a pleasure to deal with and got the work done in a neat and orderly manner. It is also obvious Jim takes pride in his work and runs a tight ship. I’m only sorry I didn’t find Jim earlier!

    A breaker in our kitchen tripped while cooking and couldnt be reset. Jimmy answered our call right away and came out the very next day- he even called to apologize for not making it out the same day. He got the breaker fixed in a few minutes and fixed a light switch that wasnt working properly for no extra charge. He also gave some advice about replacing lightbulbs to make our dimmers work correctly. I would recommend Jimmy to anyone looking for fast and reliable electrical work!

    Best experience with an electrical company I’ve had. Very responsive, very kind, and for the work done quickly and as soon as they could. The apprentice Matt was very kind and worked quickly and got everything fixed well.I recommend JDO over any electric company in the area- literally, do not contact any other company than JDO!     We picked him because everyone in our condo complex had used him and liked the work he does. We’ve used him over the years to replace our circuit breaker box, replace our outside light fixture, replace the lighting in our kitchen, and now to revamp almost all of our lighting, installing recessed lighting in most rooms and having him install lights we bought next to our bed, all led lights with dimmers. He is responsive, does a good job... and his estimates have always been the actual cost. It is nice to be able to make good decisions due to accurate information.

    Wow. Amazing service. I had a dead breaker. The company that wired my building suggested I find someone else for a small job. JDO was responsive. Accommodated my work schedule to arrive at the building when I could be there. Diagnosed and repaired the problem quickly and professionally. Very Intelligent electrician.
