    Sussel definitely exceeded our expectations. With all big projects like what we did there are bound to be some issues but they were very open and transparent about everything and I cannot stress how important proactive communication is for your stress-level when you are living through construction projects. I would recommend Sussel to everyone. Working with Rob our sales person, Tom the project manager, and any other onsite contractors was a dream. One even saved some of the newspaper clippings he found in the wall for me when he was demoing, so cool!

    I would highly recommend Sussel Garages for anyone looking to build a new garage. I interviewed multiple companies ahead of my project and Sussel was the one one willing to do my entire project (garage and retaining wall) and came in at a great price. From the start, I never felt pressured into making big, pricey changes. I always felt like Sussel cared about the final product and my satisfaction with a quality product. Weather was tricky this spring and caused some scheduling delays but Sussel maintained great communication. Sussel uses sub-contractors for a lot of the work - which allows them to take on the whole project - but while that might make you a little concerned for challenges in coordination and responsibility, I felt like my project manager was knowledgeable, in control, and cared about my project. Xcel Energy was our biggest challenge and Sussel has someone who navigates their process. Ann was amazing to work with. I can’t imagine trying to work with Xcel without her. She helped me understand each step in the process and she took the lead in all communication and coordination with Xcel. Anyone looking into Sussel will see the quality of their work but I’d call out Ann as the extra benefit of hiring them. I’m extremely happy with the final product and would recommend Sussel.

    A great experience for us!A very responsive and easy group to work with- from the planning the scope of the project with explanation of costs to construction. Each stage provided a contact person/manager who provided answers to questions in less than 24 hours. Special thanks to Rob T, Eli, and Geno!Work crews and subs gave solid work and were respectful of the neighbors as well as us. We talked with many of the workers and they were universally positive in their reviews of work for Sussel. A great compliment for a business!Thank-you for your work.

    We tried working with many different contractors and no one was as flexible to work as Sussel. Paul was a great guy and really understood what we needed and had great inputs as to what our new garage should look like without going over budget. Tom was our project manager and was always available when we had questions about the build. Highly recommend working with Sussel for anyone wanting to build a garage.

    I opted for Sussel based on their stellar reputation and my positive impressions of Rob, who took the time to discuss the project thoroughly and provide valuable feedback. Unlike other contractors who were unresponsive or failed to keep appointments, Sussels team, including Rob, Tom, and Ann, consistently demonstrated professionalism and fairness throughout the entire process. We had a minor hiccup involving electrical work but they worked with me to find a resolution.While some improvements in communication could be made (Ann always responded promptly), I always felt confident reaching out to Rob or Tom for crucial information, and they were quick to respond. I trusted them to handle the project. I interacted with the various workers who came out for different phases of the project, they were not only skilled but also enjoyable to talk to.The outcome surpassed my expectations, and Im very satisfied with my new garage. If given the opportunity, I wouldnt hesitate to engage Sussel again for future projects.

    The undertaking of a new garage was a very big deal for me. The investment, the size of the project and complexity of the coordination- it was a lot and I ultimately went with Sussel after getting a few bids and thinking it over for weeks. Sussel came with a recommendation from a trusted family member, their bid was very competitive and the most comprehensive. From start to finish the experience was positive. I had lots of questions that my project manager explained to me. The app was helpful and the communication was excellent. I felt taken care of and the end result was fabulous. I recommend them 100%. They are the best!

    Sussel recently built a garage for us. We could possibly have paid less for a garage, but we could not have gotten better or more professional work. The estimator, project manager, office staff and sub-contractors were all great. No one promised anything that couldnt be delivered. Phone calls, texts and emails were replied to within minutes, and all requests from us were accomodated. The sub-contractors worked hard and fast and knew what they were doing.

    We did a complete tear down and new build of a larger garage. Sussel did a great job walking us through the best options and recommendations, and the process was really easy for us to follow along with. We had one neighbor tight up against our property line and they said the whole process was seamless for them as well (which is the best news a neighbor can share!). All of the crews were professional, on time, and did a nice job keeping everything around cleaned up. We are so happy with our new space and its a major upgrade for us. Our concrete sealers who did our flooring even commented on what a nice job Sussel did with our garage for the price compared to other garages they were doing work on. Thanks Tim for all your project management on this, we would highly recommend Sussel for others and will continue to leverage them for other projects if needed in the future in our garage!

    Hired Sussel Garages to build me a 18X24 garage. meeting with Paul W he ran through what came with the build package and helped work through the electrical placement and siding that matched the house identical. Very helpful throughout the process just a text or call away! Great Guy!!During the build I had Tom F as my project manager he handled all my concerns or any questions I had if he didn’t know he got the answer. One instance I had a problem that came up and my irrigation got cut in four zone’s .a day before blow out was scheduled . He was there with me in the dirt repairing the lines. Felt at first like I was on my own, but Tom went out of his way to help.The framers were two brothers that just killed it knew what they were doing and answered my dumb questions!Roof & Siding were done with care and look great!Even Sussel’s clean up crew did great.Also big shout out to there build app Buildertrend it kept you updated on what’s next on the build, day by day with a long view A to finishedBottom line I would have Sussel build for me again.Robert

    Sussel replaced an old and leaky single car garage. I chose them primarily because of their sales representative, Rob, who was very respectful, listened to my concerns and didn’t talk down to me, as many contractors tend to do. I was very impressed with the quality of work from all the subcontractors and am quite pleased with my new garage. I have recommended Sussel to my neighbors who were all very interested in the progress of my garage.

    From beginning to end, our experience with Sussell was incredible. I cannot rave more about Paul and Geoff - these two are great to work with and really made the project go seamlessly.     We had Sussel build an addition to our attached garage. It has a 10 foot door and added about 650 square feet to our garage space. We also had our blacktop driveway removed and replaced with concrete and the paver sidewalk replaced with concrete. Along with the garage addition we had the house re-roofed and re-sided. John Wiik of Sussel did a great job of coordinating the work of all the subcontractors involved (about 6). He kept us updated on who was doing what when and worked in a few change orders along the way. Sussel was recommended to me by a good friend and I would recommend them to anyone interested in a new garage or garage addition.

    18’ x 22’ garage build with attic storage: fully insulated, Sheetrock/taping, full electrical, Mini-split heat pump and removal of old shed.Excellent experience from the initial contact and project planning with the salesman all the way to completion.     Sussel Garages were amazing! Geoff our project manager answered all of our questions super promptly and was so nice. We started the planning and building in mid July and by mid august permits were approved and project had started!! We were quoted it’d be done around early November (hopefully before the first snow fall) and they completed the build and cleaned everything up by the beginning of October. Garage is beautifully done and I highly recommend them if you’re in the market for a new garage!!!

    We love our new garage! Sussel was great to work with and delivered a really nice end product. We got exactly what we planned for and are very happy with the craftsmanship, the project management and the contractors that helped with each step of the project. The timing was almost spot on, with a little bad weather getting in the way but the change was minimal and well communicated along the way.We dont have much experience with a large project like this so the process was quite new to us. The online tool was really great to use for reference for milestones. Sometimes there would be a week set aside for a task and, after a few days, we would wonder if anything was going to happen and then the phase would be turned around in a day or two. And, like I mentioned earlier the contractors were very professional and did a really great job.Like every project, we expected some minor kinks along the way. The project manager was very willing to collaborate with us to work through everything (once again, very minor items). One thing that was super helpful for us (as inexperienced builders) is at the very beginning of the project, to take an hour to go through all of the documentation in detail with the project manager.

    My experience was good but not without some bumps. Paul was the project manager and was good about communicating within 24 hours. The pictures got posted multiple times but show my old garage, the new foundation and final product 3-stall 1.5 story garage. The old and new garage pics are taken from the exact same spot in the alley.One challenge - my electrical line to the garage was cut and lost. We had to negotiate a fix but we got there amicably.Early on we discussed schedule and I told them I was flexible - I care far more about quality than speed. It took from May to August. Paul kept me informed and repeatedly expressed appreciation for my flexibility and upgraded a couple things at no extra cost to me as a result.I love my garage.

    Excellent garage experience with Sussel. Mike came out for an assessment and was very knowledgeable and communicative during the bidding process. He had good recommendations for the structure for some of this specifics I was interested in. Their pricing was competitive amongst several other quotes I got. They said theyd get the garage built before winter (quoted in late Sept) and it was completed and I got the cars in before first snowfall! Very pleased with the quality of the work and communication. PM Tim was easy reachable during the build process and quick to address any concerns or questions that came up. Id strongly recommend Sussel for your garage construction.

    Sussel Garages removed our old single car garage and built a new two car garage. We had a great experience with them. Tim who was our project manager was great. He was very professional and was constantly in communication with us if plans changed. They also use an app where it is very easy to view the planned construction schedule. The project took from the end of May to early August. 4ish weeks of the construction time was waiting for Xcel to come out and connect the power. While we were waiting we were able to run an extension cord into our garage and use it. Once the power was connected, we completed the final inspection and only found a couple small things that they had addressed within a couple days.My only negative feedback is that not enough siding was ordered initially so we had to wait for that to be delivered and I did have to call and inquire about this because over a week had passed with the siding partially installed.Overall I highly recommend Sussel Garages. If I need to build or replace a garage in the future they are who I will reach out to first.

    Paul came to our home to give an estimate on a future garage build. I was impressed with his knowledge and could tell he really cared about our end result. He recommended a different placement of the garage due to the grading of our property and was making sure the new structure wouldnt cause water to flow in the wrong direction and therefore into the basement. His plans and drawings accounted for proper drainage. I appreciated this extra detail and expertise. I would highly recommend Sussel Garages.

    We bought a small house for our daughters to live it while they are attending college in the Twin Cities. The house was in pretty good shape for a hundred-year-old building, but the garage was falling apart. We needed a complete tear-down and replacement. We saw another garage in the neighborhood get replaced by Sussel, did a little research, and found out that there were several more Sussel garages nearby, as well, including our next-door neighbors.Because my wife and I live out of state and could not be there to personally oversee any part of the work, we wanted to go with a company with a proven track record as a turn-key contractor. We contacted Sussel and made the decision to go with them. What would have been a daunting job for me to coordinate from a distance was handled easily by Sussel. From permitting through tear down, construction, wiring, and inspections, Sussel and our project manager, Tom Leiskau, were easy to work with. They kept us abreast of scheduling, and worked with me and my daughters--and sometimes around their schedules--to make sure any minor issues were taken care of in a timely fashion. Everything ran smoothly and without delays.I can definitely recommend Sussel if you need a garage in the Twin Cities.

    Sussel Garages did an outstanding job removing our ancient carriage house, helping us design a new garage according to our design preferences, building the beautiful new one, and putting in a new driveway. The Sussel project managers were very tuned in to what we envisioned, and made it happen. All of the subs were really excellent and very professional, including the demo guys, concrete crew, siding crew, and roofers. The Sussel employees were also great, even down to the clean-up folks. A huge plus working with Sussel was that Sussel included a new driveway in addition to the garage at the same price as competitors offered just the garage. When delays happened due to supplier issues, Sussel sorted it out and kept the project going. I would highly recommend Sussel, and thank them for our beautiful garage!

    Sussel was AMAZING to work with!! Every contractor was professional and so pleasant to have working at my house. The concrete driveway is gorgeous and the garage is a dream come true. If you are considering a new driveway and garage or just a new garage you MUST use Sussel!!! I can’t recommend them enough. I’m my business life I deal with contractors on a daily basis. I have never had an experience were a contractor is so easy to get a hold of and responds so quickly. I can’t stress enough how valuable this is.

    After checking out a few local builder, we opted to go with Sussel to build our She Shed. Their price was very competitive, and they have a strong reputation. The crews were great, on time and professional. Our project manager Jeff kept us informed at every turn- I would highly recommend. There were a few snags along the way, and even found one after the project was completed, and the snow melted, but Sussel stood by their work and corrected everything.

    I am building a replacement garage myself, but was looking for the pros to build a concrete foundation to my design. I needed to be sure that it was done right. I chose Sussel Garages because of their longstanding reputation for quality and reliability. Tim, Sussels project manager, reviewed my plans and suggested some very helpful modifications which I worked into my design. As the work on the foundation progressed he was always available to answer my questions, not only on the foundation, but also practical questions regarding framing and finishing the garage structure itself.     Very happy with my experience w/ Sussel. The PM, Tim, was top notch. He did a great job in addressing any problems, which always arise on projects like this. Mine involved tearing down an attached garage, raising the site grade, and building a detached 2 stall structure (20x24). The subs were very competent and nice, end result was great. Took a little longer than I thought it would, but only by a couple of weeks. I realize this is high season and they have many projects. Overall would not hesitate to recommend Sussel Garages to my friends.

    Our experience with Sussel Garages was extremely pleasant. From our free estimate, to the draw up designs, the concrete pouring, framing, roofing, and our electrical work, Sussel delivered exceptional professionalism every step of the process. Each of their sub contractors provided us with a superb building experience and were equally professional. We had project updates weekly, sometimes daily, regarding our garage. We honestly did not feel misinformed or uninformed regarding our project. This was our first experience with Sussel Garages and we would return to them again for other major home projects/services.Additionally, we had answers to every one of our questions within 24 hours or less--including responses after hours.     From start to finish, communication was clear. While there were some delays due to material lead times (normal right now), the project stayed on schedule for the most part. It was painless for me to have a 24x40 detached garage set up in the back of my house, and working with John Wiik (project manager) was great. The subcontractors were all great as well and majority of the work was performed to perfection. The project scope grew significantly from the original estimate, but not one complaint as I kept adding more work to the to do list. I would definitely recommend Sussel to anyone looking to get a garage built!

    I needed a garage built ( 26’x22’) I had several companies give me a quote. Sussel was not the cheapest but I felt very comfortable with Tim, who was my Project Manager. He was extremely helpful and responsive. I was on site for all the work that was performed on my garage. I was very pleased with all the subcontractors that Sussel used to help build the garage. I found, as I conversed with them, that they all had a considerable amount of experience in what the did.The garage was done ahead of schedule, for which I was extremely pleased. All my requests were addressed and questions answered.I had another garage built by Sussel almost 50 years ago. I was pleased with that one and even more so with this one.     Sussel did a great job start to finish. Our old garage was located very close to the old, decrepit garage next door. There was risk that removal might cause damage to that garage, but they did such a careful job that no damage occurred. Our PM, Tim, was great to work with—knowledgeable, responsive and friendly. He made us feel reassured, which was especially important during these uncertain (COVID-19) times. Every contractor showed up in a timely manner, worked incredibly hard and did a professional job. I chose Sussel Builders to build a detached, two-car garage at my rental home in St. Paul. Iwas so pleased with the service I received from Sussel! Heres why Id recommend them and how theyre different from others: It took me four months of thorough sourcing to find a company/contractor that fit my budget and confidence in work.Rob was my initial contact from the sales side and Jeremy was my project manager throughout and he quickly got me set up with the online tool they use to manage projects, BuilderTrend. That was the tipping point for me on this. I live in Denver, CO and needed to find a contractor/company that I could trust and manage from afar and these guys were it!Rob and Jeremy were great to work with! Friendly, responsive, flexible as needed in helping me determine the specs to keep things moving along. They were professional and organized throughout the entire process. Overall it took two months from demo to done but I wasnt on a fast timeline so no issues there.I was able to visit and see the finished product - which was beautiful!     Had a large garage addition built, attached to existing attached garage. Had multiple bids and chose Sussel - two main reason they won the job- price was reasonable - not the highest bid but not lowest either.) and they had extensive experience building the type of garage we were asking for. The project included moving utilities (meter box), and attached new structure to a 12/12 pitch ). With the complexity of our project- no hesitation or concern by Sussel that they can do all aspects of the job where I did have concerns with a few of the other bids ; Sussel have ran into these scenarios with past projects and knew and can explain how to get it done. I had project delays caused by contractors I supplied for the job versus going with sussel oringially for all parts of the bid- and delays from the winter weather since we started late fall . my concrete guy who did not come through for me made the job 6 weeks behind and in the end we ultimately went with Sussel’s concrete contractor - they were able to pull off the job in a week after I decided to move forward with a new concrete contractor mid job. I new our project was complicated and did not expect everything to go perfect. Sussels oringinal project plan went as plan mostly- when we had detours to the plan- Sussel worked with me , kept me informed, gave me my options when plans needed to adjusted due to things mostly out of our control. In the end, they delivered a solid garage addition to our agreed upon bid with no short cuts : all workers were respectful, if I had a concern - my project manager listened, explained or had it corrected right away. Also, the workers on the job were very professionally . I highly recommend sussel.

    I see the negative and I just didnt experience any of that. My sales guy Rob was prompt for the estimate appointment. My project manager Jeremy is on top of things and stopped out when I working from home to meet. As I type this now I have a the shingles and siding going on. Price was middle of the road but if you pay the cheapest you get the cheapest. Quality is suburb and all the tradesmen have been great and friendly when I would check on the progress. I would recommend Sussel to anyone my experience from start to now nearly the end has been seamless. The only glitch was a 2 week stretch of rain where nothing got done if Sussel has a way to prevent that I want to give a rating of 10 stars.

    Wow, surprised by all the negative reviews. Our garage was completed one year ago. Paul, the manager of our new garage build, made sure everyone was on task and on time. He came out numerous times by himself just to make sure everything is as it should be. In fact, he came out yesterday to do some adjustments to the main door. Yes, there were a few hiccups along the way. This is a huge job so hiccups are to be expected. But Paul took care of everything for us and never batted an eye about doing so. Could not have had a better experience. If you use Sussel make sure you ask for Paul. He will make sure everything is done right and in an incredibly timely manner.

    I had a great experience with this company they were great and communication was great. Rob was the salesman and he was great helpful it took me awhile designing my garage but well worth it. Then it was Tom project manager always answered his phone or got back to you if he was busy. Most of the contractors were good from demo to finishing up the only ones that weren’t the best where electrical and the gas had some problems with passing the inspections but they finally got it.

I very much appreciate the follow through and Sussels commitment to customer satisfaction.========[Original review made in June, 2024]Paid: ~$50,000 for a two-car garage.Pro: The garage is complete (with minor interior damage at project completion -- see below)Con: They “project manage” but won’t “client manage”. The two star rating is my answer to the question “was it worth the money?”. We do have a new garage, so it’s not a 0-1 star, but the overall experience was far from 5-stars. Sussel was the most expensive bid we explored in the neighborhood, and I chose them thinking the price premium would yield a better experience on top of the mere building of a garage. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The project began smoothly, but the frequency of proactive project updates gradually decreased as the project progressed. Their electrician subcontractor broke our sump pump pipe right by our foundation, we had to reach out to get the matter fixed, it wasn’t fixed in the matter of days, and the pipe still has minor leaks which well have to fix. They showed no respect or remorse to the fact they damaged our property, which is disturbing. The firewall installed in the garage also came damaged with a sizable dent/scratch, but we received no response on the inquiry. They also agreed to coordinate with our neighbor on a small project, but they never got back to them. If they cannot accommodate our neighbors request, fine. But dropping the ball with no communication is a different matter. At the end of the day we have a new garage so the job is technically “done”, but the total client experience was far from satisfactory; definitely not what youd expect when youre paying $50,000.

    Overall very pleased with the communication, level of service, and final product working with Sussel on our garage project. Working through design and pricing with Rob was very easy compared to other builders Ive worked with. The project timeline was clearly communicated and they were able meet their deadlines pretty well. Tom was a great project manager and was very responsive to minor change orders and getting punch-list items completed at the end of the project. Pricing was perhaps on the high side, but the good communication, adherence to timelines, and high quality work were worth the price. One minor quibble - at the service door, we ended up needing 1 step down into the garage due to the slope of our yard, but this was not in the original design (which called for the slab to be level with the yard). Adding the step was probably unavoidable, but it didnt come up until the slab was already poured. Had we know this during design, we may have made some adjustments to service door placement, etc. Again, this is minor. Overall very pleased and would recommend Sussel

    We had a positive experience with Sussel Garages. One of the first things I appreciated was that the sales person was responsive and knowledgeable. He was also patient...willing to talk through different options and decisions, updating the drawings multiple times. Did I mention he was responsive? All of the other companies we approached struggled to respond after the first 1-2 email exchanges. So this stood out to me.The project building experience was also quality. We had to hit an insurance deadline for a certain milestone in the project (or else we would lose some insurance money), and Sussel bent over backwards to meet it. They beat the deadline by a week even with weather complications without sacrificing on quality.Sussel is not the cheapest option out there, but I do think they are a solid value given their service and quality. I would recommend Sussel to others, especially if you have aspects of your project that are not cookie cutter or will take special coordination.

    These guy were so nice I had called other company to come out and look at my garage and no one would. When I called them they came out that day gave me a bid, After the insurance person came out they came back out with in a couple hours to do a emergency post up on the wall of my garage that was coming down took off garage door so I could get me car out.
