We recently completed a major renovation project on our 1920s bungalow that included a complete gut of the kitchen and dining room, a refurbishment of garage exterior, and several additional projects ranging from plumbing lines to fireplace refacing and exterior painting. The project required coordination of every major trade and sub-contractor, all of whom were seamlessly managed by our on-site project manager. We were kept informed of timelines and status at all times and, whenever possible, our project managers took on problems and repairs themselves. We felt very fortunate to have such a talented and conscientious team -- especially since we remained in the house throughout the 6-month project.A project can only be as good as the design itself; working with Sheila was an absolute pleasure. She is a gifted designer who puts tremendous thought and care into her recommendations. Her expertise ensured we made solid decisions that we will be happy with for years to come. This is our second major project with Homework Remodels. We have one more left and look forward to getting started soon.

Thanks to Homework Remodels for a great job helping me restore my 1920s home. After the restoration was complete on the original house, they built my addition which included a master suite, a laundry room and a breakfast nook. They are very knowledgeable about historic restoration and they knew how to work with the historic society and the city to get the proper approvals and permits needed to meet the historic preservation requirements. They were a pleasure to work with and the new addition looks like it was part of the original house. All of the projects that Homework Remodels did for me where top quality, finished on time and in budget. Thanks to Steve and his team for a great job!

The team at Homework Remodels are the consummate professionals. From the beginning of the process, Steve and his teams quality of work & attention to detail were superb. The design team worked with me to ensure every idea was developed fully, and the follow through & workmanship was fantastic. We even called a couple of audibles along the way, which were implemented seamlessly. I would hire Homework Remodels again without hesitation!

Recently, we had our master bathroom torn down to the studs and totally remodeled by Homework Remodels. We met initially with the owner of the company Steve Shinn and his designer Sheila Lanier. We were so impressed by their presentation, that we did not bother to obtain any additional quotes.Sheila, in addition to being quite personable, is an extremely talented designer and decorator with a great eye for color and composition. We accompanied her on many trips to select tiles, granite, bathroom fixtures, lighting, etc.The subcontractors used by Homework Remodels were all excellent in their craft. The job foremen, Aaron and Lee oversaw our project with the utmost care. During part of the renovation, we had to be out of town but we were comfortable entrusting our home to these men during our absence.During renovations, we also decided to have the company do a partial revision of our main guest bathroom. Although our initial budget was far exceeded, we believe the final product was well worth the cost.We can highly recommend Homework Remodels to anyone seeking quality renovations of their home.

We highly recommend Homework Remodels! Steve and Sheila spent time providing us with quality blueprints and excellent home décor/interior design selections for our new 400 square foot casita. We live in a historic neighborhood and they have proven experience obtaining the required city permits and approval from the Phoenix Historical Preservation Society. They removed our dilapidated garage and replaced it with an amazingly beautiful and quality-built casita! We would like Ross, our Homework Remodels’ project manager, to oversee all of our projects! He kept the project moving smoothly and made sure the work was completed to high, quality standards. After examining the completed casita, contractors we know gave the work their high praise!

I had Homework Remodels update the kitchen and laundry in my Haver home and I couldnt be happier with how things turned out. It is really a stressful time to have your kitchen torn up for weeks but all the people I interacted with during the remodel were great and provided excellent quality work. I just love my kitchen everyday (still pinching myself after 2 years) and get nothing but compliments from everyone that comes over. I recommend Steve and his folks at Homework Remodels.Greg

Homework Remodels did an outstanding job of renovating our 65 year old home, which was in a state of significant disrepair when we purchased it. The remodeling required a new roof, new electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling, flooring, paint, plaster, fencing... They completed the job on a tight schedule so we could move in upon the sale of our previous home.We were kept well informed of the progress and were involved in the process.Five years later, the repairs/upgrades made by HomeworkRemodels have stood the test of time. We are extremely satisfied with their work.Highly recommended.

We live in a historic home (1926) and needed to have the bathroom completely remodeled. We hired Homework Remodels to take everything out (tile floor, walls, ceiling, tub, toilet, vanity, etc) and install a new bathroom. They were very professional and were great to work with. We explained the items that we wanted, and they provided information on those items as well as other options, which we greatly appreciated. They communicated very well throughout the project, and we were extremely happy with the end result. Working on historic homes can be difficult and unpredictable, but their expertise made it look easy. This bathroom is the only bathroom in our house, and they managed to keep it functional throughout the entire construction phase, which is an incredibile feat. Our new bathroom is beautiful and is better than what we expected - great quality of work! We finally have a bathroom that we are proud of. We will definitely hire them again for future projects. I highly recommend them.

Steve and his crew did an excellent job on 3 bathroom remodels for us. All 3 turned out better than we could have expected. Excellent workmanship, fast and on time. Anything extra was communicated to us clearly and was definitely needed (replacement of rotted underflooring or more tile to raise the height in a shower). I would definitely use him again and would recommend him without hesitation.

Steve, the owner came out to our home to give us an estimate for our master bathroom remodeling project that we have been saving up for. I will admit his prices were a tad bit hirer than other contractors that I had met with, but something told me he was the one and as a female you have to go with your intuition. He was very honest & genuine about the whole process and we all know the saying, you get what you pay for and I was willing to pay a little extra for piece of mind during my renovation...and as it turned out that is what I was given, just that. We were just thrilled the outcome of our master bathroom, we couldnt be happier!! I got the (spa-like) bathroom retreat that I always wanted and the whole team from design to the installers did a wonderful job, hence the 5 Stars. I absolutely LOVE my new bathroom!!

My wife and I did a lot of research collecting and formulating in advance our goals for our kitchen remodel. Steve Shinn and Aaron Thomas were extremely professional in every phase of the project. Our 1981 semi-custom home in Tempe was not an open floorplan by design. Steve listened and looked at all our research and together we came up with solutions that met our expectations and budget. Steve applied the classic work space triangle concept that is the cornerstone to making our new kitchen chef friendly. He included some extras like the pull out vertical pantry cabinets, deep appliance drawer cabinets and two waist-high spice drawers that are all utilized daily. Soffits were removed to allow full height upper cabinets greatly expanding cabinet capacities. We wanted the warm look and feel of wood cabinetry. In particular we liked the minimum reveal look associated with modern European style cabinets. Steve did trade-off comparisons for us on locally crafted vs factory cabinets from the east coast. The local source worked out well as some unplanned adjustments were quickly crafted with little delay to the project. We further challenged Steve with our lighting and power requirements. We have zoned ceiling lighting with small LED can lights as LEDs were then becoming reasonably priced. All the appliance power outlets are hidden under the cabinets and under the granite breakfast bar. This solution allowed for a plug free stainless steel continuous backsplash with under cabinet mounted LED lighting. In summary: Our experience using Homework Remodels was beyond our expectations. They should be high on your list to talk to and see if they can be the solution you have been looking for your remodel.

My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today. We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home. With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades. We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable. We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

My family lives in one of the historic districts of Phoenix. We had Homework Remodels convert our old garage into a guestroom. The work entailed adding a bathroom, plumbing, electric, storage. Steve and his team did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend him for any work.

A few years ago, we had several significant cracks in the plaster walls and ceilings of our 1910 Craftsman bungalow. Rod with Homework Remodels was able to fix them all in one day and even now we cant tell where his patchwork starts and ends. Having a 100+ year old home in Phoenix, were always looking for true craftsmen that will respect the style and idiosyncrasies of older houses and not just do the quick and easy fix. Thanks, Rod!

After many years of consideration we finally decided to remodel our home—kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and new flooring throughout. We are so thankful we found Homework Remodels to complete our project! Not only did they do an amazing job, they were a delight to work with. Sheila came up with some creative design ideas for making the most of our kitchen space as well as other areas. Her help was invaluable in selecting paint colors, tile, flooring, etc. Sheila and her team kept us informed throughout the process and worked with us all along the way. We are happy to recommend Homework Remodel.

We recently completed a full tear-out kitchen and master bath replacement with Homework Remodels in our mid-century home (built 1957). It was the second major project on which we engaged Steve Shinn and company. The first was about ten years ago for an addition to our home that added an office/bedroom, laundry room, garage extension, new roof, painting and changes to front and rear patios.Doing such an extensive project that involved all trades gave us the opportunity to really get to know Steve, the quality of work from his team, and the way he runs his business. Needless to say, we were very satisfied and had no hesitation calling Homework Remodels for this latest project. We were very pleased to see that Steve was not only still in business following the recession that clobbered so many local companies, but actually had grown his business over that time. Knowing that Steve takes a long-term approach to managing his business, and having seen his dedication to customer satisfaction, we were not surprised to see that Homework Remodels flourished. We had uncertainties about other contracting firms, so we went with the one we knew and with whom we already had a good experience. We had confidence in Homework Remodels, so it was a pretty easy decision. One of the changes we found, that was of great value to us, is that Steve now had an in-house designer, Sheila, whose experience and expertise was obvious from our first meeting. It made tackling such a large project a much more comfortable experience. Sheila provided a lot of information on materials, fixtures, and design, and told us where to find more on our own.The Homework team provided guidance every step of the way and did a great job. I would recommend them for their quality of work and great customer service.

Homework Remodels remodeled our kitchen, backyard, patio, and two bathrooms. They restored our second-story balcony when its floor leaked. Their work was excellent. Steve Shinn designed the kitchen and the patio. We have been completely satisfied.
