    I cant tell you how helpful Mark has been. A absolute godsend! And get this - I dont live in the area. Im in Pennsylvania. So why American Beam and Steel, all the way out in Chicago? Because I had questions and I needed answers. Answers that I wasnt able to get here. Were removing several load-bearing walls to open up living space in our home. I saw all the many online positive reviews and happy clients, so I gave it a shot. Mark answered the phone, and even though Im not a prospective client, he was happy to offer me whatever help he could and answer all my questions. He set me on the right path and offered sound advice. He has followed up and we continue to keep in contact as I work through this process with an architect, contractor and a steel fabricator in my area. Without that call to Mark and his company, I would be lost in this process. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. 10 stars!

    After a devastating experience of a house fire, we needed to rebuild the damaged portion. After speaking with a half a dozen contractors, and everyone wanted to take the full insurance check, I found American Beam and Steel and spoke with Mark. From the first conversation, Mark was a breath of fresh air. He is extremely knowledgeable of his craft, will educate you on what is honestly needed, and his crew has the same great values. They finished ahead of schedule and in the end, working with Mark and his team was the best decision I’ve made for this project.     This year has been difficult for all of us, but in the midst of all that our nation is going through I found a BRIGHT SHINING LIGHT in American Beam and Steel. These guys have SAVED MY HOUSE!!!!!! I had serious rotting of the beams, subflooring and sill plate. It was a legitmate hazard. Not only did they replace the beams, subflooring and sill plate in TWO DAYS, they replaced the rotting front deck as well. They will be back this weekend to install a brand new front door also. All I need to do, is re-tile the threshold. All of this, for a very fair and reasonable price. If it werent for the HUMANITY the owner and employees of this company showed me, I would not have been able to get the desperatley needed work done. Grateful and impressed are not good enough words to express how I feel about them, and the stellar job they have done.There ARE still good people AND good companies looking out for us little guys in this world. American Beam and Steel is proof of that. Jim, Mark, Darryl, and Jeremy were very professional and just all around great people.     I cant say enough great things about Mark, Jim and American Beam & Steel. We ran into an issue with our new house and got over anxious.     I needed to replace a wooden beam in a house that was over 100 years old in Chicago. I used American beam and steel for this job. From the very first appointment I knew Mark was professional, knew precisely what needed to be done to rectify my situation and I was confident he would successfully complete the job on time and on budget. In the end I wasn’t wrong about my assumptions and I am very happy with the end result. Would highly recommend this company for any type of structure work. Jim the office person was good with communication and Jeremy the other guy working with Mark was great to work with day to day and he and Mark answered all my questions and explained to me the different parts of what they were doing which made me even more comfortable.

    We contacted American Beam and Steel because we wanted to take out two walls, one being load-bearing, to have an open concept in our kitchen, dining and family rooms. Jim was always very communicative and responsive about making appointments. When Mark came out he assessed the project, and unlike other contracting companies, he knew exactly what needed to be done but was also honest and transparent about expressing his concerns. After agreeing to have American Beam and Steel perform the work we ran into a couple hiccups, at no fault of American Beam and Steel, but they were quickly addressed and rectified by American Beam and Steel. The project itself took 2 days. The American Beam and Steel team were at our home on time both days. Everyone on the team was friendly and polite. They were diligent and efficient. They knew exactly what needed to be done and did it. The team also cleaned the work area after each day. The two steel in-construction beams were installed and looked great. It was a pleasure working with Mark, Jim and their team at American Beam and Steel. I highly recommend.

    We hired American Beam and Steel (ABS) to complete steel beam & structural framing work on our home. The work was completed in the crawl space to reinforce the housing foundation and floors with concrete footing, steel columns and beams. It was one of the best experiences that weve had with a company. It was a distinct pleasure to work with Dawn R, Jim E, Mark H, Darryl R and the entire ABS Crew. From start to finish, the crew was very professional, punctual, neat, and responsive to questions regarding the work. They were not short of communication both verbally and written. I loved this most. We knew what to expect and how long the project would take. From my first phone call to the company when I was greeted by Dawn with the warmest and most sincere concern for what our needs were regarding our home to the last phone call made to Jim to thank him for the work completed by Mark and the ABS Crew, it was a phenomenal experience! I seriously felt like family. American Beam and Steel is a company that truly cares about ensuring quality work at a fair price and customer satisfaction. We no longer hear the squeaking we once heard in parts of our house and the foundation is so strong that we can build two kitchens on top of one another and the house will stand strong.     If only ALL contractors and tradespeople were as good as this team. Great communication, follow through, honest, and ON TIME. Unheard of with most contractors these days.We were looking to replace our wood basement beam and posts with steel so scheduled Mark to come out and inspect. He listened to my concerns, looked at our property, and said while he would love our business recommended we save our money or use it elsewhere. Everything appears to be very structurally sound, great material, and normal.If we ever need work or if I hear of anyone that does, Mark and Jim are my first and only call.

    American Beam & Steel, Inc. is AMAZING. I had to replace old wooden termite damaged support beams and masonry columns in my 100 yr old 2 flat (and level my sloped floors). I did my homework and got 3 estimates and am glad that I chose American Beam & Steel, Inc. This major project was so easy with this company. When I tell you I did not have to lift a finger -- I mean it. Mark texted me every morning before arriving to the job to let me know he was on the way. Mark explained EVERYTHING to me in depth (which I truly appreciated). Jim was always responsive to my emails/and or calls. The guys that assisted Mark during the demolition and installation of the support beams and post were phenomenal as well - very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. The guys cleaned up every day and left my basement like they found it. Mark, as I mentioned before, you all are doing this thing right as a business. I have used plenty of contractors and by far this has been the best experience Ive had! My 2-flat is set to for at least another 100 yrs now! Thanks, guys!

    In 1918 a builder put a pipe through a joist. For one hundred years, everything was fine and nobody cared. Until, one day, in 2020, the worst condo association president of all-time, Maureen S (whose throat is too big for her neck)., decided that the joist had to be fixed immediately.I needed help and American Beam was there to support me structurally and emotionally. i worked with Mark and Jim. Mark was tall and slender like a beam so I assumed he would know how to work with beams. Jim was more regular shaped and I assumed he could do great administration the way regular shaped people do.The crew came in and put up plywood gussets to reinforce the joist. THEY WORKED. The condo association president shut up which was the true goal of this project. As a bonus - the building hasnt fallen down so maybe the gussets are also structurally helpful but I dont care - Maureen S. has shut up.I cant recommend American Beam enough. They are definitely one of my top five plywood gusset companies. If you have joist structure issues, you have to call Mark and Jim. If you dont have structure issues, I suggest you get a sledgehammer and get some structure issues so you can work with these guys.

    Amazing experience and team. I read a review earlier that said the team was not prompt in communication but not my experience at all. Had multiple contractors come in and ABS was by far the best - in price, recommended work, communication. Mark takes time to explain things thoroughly, and Jim was always prompt in communication. Honest, not pushy at all - Will use them for any structural foundation repairs in the future. Thanks team!

    The owner of this company, Jim, is a man of remarkable integrity, decency, kindness and generosity, and I cannot recommend him, or his company, enough.Two days ago, I contacted American Beam & Steel Inc to request an inspection of cracks in a brick/concrete wall which I suspected were being caused by the weight of the steel beam just above it. Im living directly under this beam, and once I recognized the problem, was very nervous and anxious about my safety.Jims assistant, Dawn, handled my initial inquiry, and as the intermediary, conveyed my concerns to Jim, and then got right back to me about why the work my wall needed was not the kind performed by their company. When I asked her to please let me speak directly with the owner, Jim called me in less than two minutes, and proceeded to spend the next twenty minutes or more educating me thoroughly on the causes of the cracks and clarifying each of the steps I would need to take to address the issue, even though those steps would not involve his own company. At the end of the call, he gave me a referral to a highly rated company that is perfectly suited to address the issue.I left the call deeply grateful and impressed at how much time hed spent with me, how generous he was in educating me and allaying my fears, even though I had essentially contacted the wrong company to address my problem. What a pleasant mistake to have made! Its always a blessing to meet people of such high character, and yesterday, Im grateful to say, Jim afforded me such a privilege.

    The prospective buyer of our home had a constructeral concern with our home and was ready to void the contract. Luckily we found American Beam and Steel. Mark and Jim could not have been more helpful. Mark came out the same day and assessed the situation, it was obvious from the beginning that he was a real pro and new what he was doing. He explained the solution and followed up, in a timely manner, with a very fair quote and a on site date. Mark met our buyer and his agent at our house where he walked them through his solution and even satisfied other concerns they had. I have never experienced customer service like this.     We hired American Beam & Steel (ABS) to assess and correct the structural support in our crawl space. ABS first performed a laser level assessment to determine the severity and locations of where the ground floors were not level. Based on their findings, which they shared with us, ABS submitted a proposal for the work that needed to be done. We had quotes from other companies but ABS was the most reasonable for almost exactly the same work to be performed. We needed new pads poured, existing supports replaced and an additional beam with supports installed. Everything was completed in two weeks and all work areas were cleaned and communication was top notch. We cant say enough just how happy we were to have found ABS. From Mark and Jim to Darryl and Jeremy, everyone was responsive, professional and timely - throw in some good humor as a bonus. The entire experience was great, from start to finish. We would highly recommend ABS as they epitomize the meaning of client relations and services.

    Great company! All I can say is thank you! American beam and steel came to our home to do some repairs that we needed in our crawl. We were in the process of selling our home . When the inspector came he recommend some work was needed to be done . We got two opinions one from Atlas restoration, the other from American beam and steel . Oddly enough Atlas came back with a ridiculous number double of what American beam and steel came back with. Im so glad we decided to call American beam and steel ! They did the job in one day !Honest, reliable company. I highly recommend .

    I cant compliment AB&S enough for the truly outstanding work they did in replacing a rotting outside beam with one that will last for decades and centuries more. They secured our business prior to the beam replacement by coming out and providing us with a very honest assessment and then providing us with a truly fair price.     From the very beginning, I found AB&S to be extremely responsive and helpful. My situation was a repair that they could handle for me, but not one they typically take on. We had an issue in our attic with a rafter not properly secured to the ridge beam. Jim advised me on how to find someone to repair it, but offered to have Mark come out if I could not find someone. Eventually I had to call back to ask for help. Dawn was extremely helpful as was Jim. We made arrangements for Mark to come out and make the repair. If you want to get a sense of who these folks are and how responsible and helpful they are, watch the video on their web site. Mark is a knowledgable, personable guy who gets things done. Very relatable and the kind of guy you would like to grab a beer with. He made the repair, chatted for a bit and then was on his way. This is a trustworthy, efficient and very likable group of people that seem to be totally focused on solving your issue. Cant recommend them highly enough!

    American Beam and Steel did an absolutely marvelous job replacing the wooden structural beam in my property in the Woodlawn community. The house it self was built in 1890 and it needed updated structural support.The gentlemen at American Beam and Steel worked with me in determining what would be the best structural solution for this particular building. They provided two options with ample reasoning for each one. I chose the one that would ultimately satisfy my design and use for the property. The job was cost efficient and professionally completed in a timely fashion. I highly recommend American Beam and Steel.

    What a solid operation. I contacted AB&S on behalf of the condo association. We have a large 3 story with steel on concrete pier. Over time there was alot of deterioration of the original material, that was causing movement within the building. So in to the picture steps Mark. He identifies the issues that lie beneath, thoroughly inspecting the entire underside of the structure. Sketches out the layout and formulates an initial site plan. Now if youre brave enough to venture through an inspection with Mark. I gotta say the man puts you at ease. First of all hes a nice guy. He takes the time to explain what hes looking at. Teaches you how buildings are constructed and answers any questions you may have. After about 5 minutes with him, its more like you calling your neighbor over to take a look. So after the initial inspection, in steps Jim. After going over all the details with Mark, Jim will work up all the aspects of the proposal and details of the job. Talk to Jim for a few minutes...yep like youve known the guy for years. So after the bid and logistics are put together. AB&S will acquire all necessary permits, schedule inspections and get to work. The worksite is left nice and neat, and the job was completed according to plan. All inspections passed with flying colors. Mark and Jim will keep you informed through every step of the process. I would highly recommend this outfit to anyone in need of structural repair. These guys are absolutely great.

    Where does one begin? From the first meeting, you can tell these guys know what they are doing! They were always on time and very responsive to all our questions and concerns. Even though they created minimal mess, which is a surprise for what they do, the mess they made would be cleaned each day before they left. Since I have an older house, they even put in new insulation where they had to access the attic because “tomorrow is gonna be a cold day and we didn’t want you guys to get cold.” Can you ask for more of a professional group of guys working on your house? Let me answer that, definitely not. If you’re in need to remove a supporting wall, I can guarantee there is no other company better qualified and equally professional!!!

    I searched for information online to obtain help for my new home. I found American Beam and Steel and reviewed their website. They performed the exact work that I needed to help save my new home build. The contractor did not install a new metal beam in the basement and my floors have some bounce to it. I called to see (on a Sunday mind you) if they service my area and was hoping for a call back after Labor Day. Within an hour, I received a call from Mark requesting that I send him my plans so he could review them. I sent him the plans via email and hoped for a response again after Labor Day..... Mark called me and told me exactly the course of action to take with action items - because unfortunately I am not in his service area:( This has restored my faith in customer service especially the online sort! During my research, all roads ended at American Beam & Steel, so I decided to give them a call.Jim (Sales) spoke to my husband and me. Jim answered each and every question we had, which were many, as if we were family. He was very patient and friendly.Mark (Owner) did the actual physical work along with his team. The team came into my home as scheduled, performed the necessary work, and cleaned the area before they left.I’ve dealt with many contractors and have to say this process was seamless. I would recommend American Beam & Steel and will definitely use them again in the future.

If are like we were when we found out, you are unsure who to use for the repair, you are nervous about what it’s going to involve, and perhaps a little aggravated that this is even happening.I am here to tell you, RELAX!! LOOK NO FURTHER. You have found one GREAT company to help you.I normally do not write a company review, but I wanted to let other concerned homeowners know what a good choice American Beam and Steel is for your issue. We had a problem below the work area with large very fragile items that could not easily be moved. Going into this project, I was quite nervous about damage. Mark was OUTSTANDING in explaining the whole process and in addressing all my concerns. When the big day came, within a couple hours, I realized we were in good hands. These guys were true professionals who really knew what they were doing. As a matter of fact, in talking with them, I found out they each had decades of experience, and as a crew, have worked together for many years. This was one sharp well-seasoned crew. As for the fragile items, not a single scratch. They showed tremendous respect and care for our situation and our home in general. Mark and Jim genially cared about doing the job right and about our complete satisfaction. It is hard to find that kind of integrity with the solid experience and quality of workmanship you feel comfortable with. It is easy to see why they are in demand. Considering the scope of the project, overall, it turned out to be a good experience, and with a perfect outcome!I would give more stars, but I can only do five! Highly recommended!!

    We had a great experience with Mark and the team. Mark came out to assess some structural issues that came up on our home inspection. He is very knowledgeable and fun to talk to, and he put our minds at ease with buying the home. They replaced a large beam and re-supported several joists, many of which were in very difficult areas to reach. Everyone was very professional and did a fantastic job. They worked quickly and cleaned up the workspace nicely when they were finished. We will definitely hire them again.

    American Beam & Steel installed a new 60+ ft steel beam span in my basement, and reinforced existing floor joists for both first and second floors. They have great customer service and are extremely knowledgeable in their field of work - Mark has years of expertise, and was able to tailor our solution so it would provide the proper support for our home for years to come, but maintain our existing ceiling heights. He explained the work in a way that was easy to understand, and made sure we were kept up to date throughout the project. He, Jeremy and Darryl did impeccable work, were very professional and kept a clean job site. Jim in the office was able to accommodate a tight turnaround with our existing renovation schedule, was available to discuss the project at virtually any time I needed to ask a question, and this was all during the holiday season. Cant recommend this company enough.

    I cant say enough good things about working with Jim & Mark from American Beam & Steel. Not only did our project go quickly & seamlessly, but the communication was top-notch. It can be difficult to find trustworthy tradesmen with great communication skills and I was so happy to find ABS! They kept in constant communication throughout the project and did everything they could to make sure it got done correctly and on-time. If you need help with a structural matter in your home....call them!!

    I called American Beam & Steel because I was concerned that I my home had structural issues related to my columns and beams. I spoke to Jim and he was very helpful, informative, and friendly and scheduled a consultation for that weekend. The founder Mark came and upon inspection explained to me that my home was structurally sound and that I had nothing to worry about. What a relief! I would 100% recommend AB&S! I learned a lot from their cool Instagram page too.
