    We have used George Mera and Independent Painters Inc. for over 10 years now. We have an old 1920s Center Hall Colonial house and trust that his team has us covered. We have oil based trim and plaster walls that have settled over the years and they do an incredible job. These pictures are from our most recent Den to Mudroom conversion. Very meticulous work around the new door and windows.

    We had the exterior of our house painted by Independent painters. It had not been painted in 20-30 years and had to be stripped and sanded before painting. We are exceptionally happy with the job they did. They are attentive and careful to small details. They did a fantastic job with the painting and they were also very good at cleanup. I would highly recommend them. We have already hired them to powerwash our bricks and we will hire them to paint the interior of our house when the time comes. After multiple horrible experiences with contractors, it was a pleasure to work with this honest, professional and high quality contractor. They worked long long hours until the job got done. They also communicate well about the work as it progresses. Im so happy that our neighbours recommended them!

    We used Independent to paint the exterior of our Victorian home with many fluted columns, spindles, wrap around porch with 3 levels. In a job like this prep is critical to sand everything down to bare wood. The crew did great work and didn’t rush through. We also needed some repairs and carpentry work on our 120 yr old house. They took the time to do the work right which lasted 6 weeks. Overall happy with the job and George was responsive to all questions.

    Independent Painters did a great job painting the outside of our house. The crew was very professional and worked late to finish each coat of paint.     We have been using George and his team for painting exterior of our house since 2012 for every three to four years. They painted our house last year, but left brick walls unpainted because we couldn’t make up our minds. George promised to come back if we decided to go ahead and just last week he and his team came back and finished the unpainted brick walls. They look great. We are very pleased with his service. He is very clean, no hustle and doesn’t make empty promises.

    We really liked the fact that George himself came out for the estimate of the exterior of our house, and he was in communication with us throughout the whole process. Being able to talk directly to the owner is always important to us, which doesnt always happen with bigger companies. His team did a great job, and any concerns we brought up were handled right away. They also replaced some exterior trim that was rotting as well as some siding without it delaying the process. Professional, competitively priced, and punctual.

    This is the second time Ive hired this company. The results have been excellent both times. Several years ago, Independent Painters did a fantastic job painting my houses exterior. They do very thorough prep which is so necessary. My house is a large Victorian, and prep included a fair amount of wood repairs needed on the porch decks and shutters, which their expert carpenter took care of. Recently I had an interior job to be done and I never hesitated to hire them for this job. George Mera is a rare contractor - his work is meticulous, and hes very easy to talk to. When your house is over 100 years old, its inevitable that painters will overlook at least a few things - a gouge in the trim that needs caulking, etc. With previous painting contractors Ive hired, getting these things corrected was a struggle. But that was not a problem with Independent Painters. Anything I noticed the crew overlooked, Id text George and hed contact his guys promptly, and theyd immediately correct it. His workers have pleasant attitudes and they clean up at the end of each work day. Also they wore masks the entire time, and I was glad to not have to argue about this. Covid is still an issue, so nobody comes into my house without a mask.

    We are so pleased with the service and quality of work by Independent Painters. Painting your home exterior is no small investment, particularly when there are additional carpentry repairs needed, and George Mera was very detailed (and patient) in taking us through the work process, expectations, and pricing. The team themselves were very professional and worked hard with great attention to detail. Despite blazing heat! They took their time to ensure each step in the process was completed thoroughly. The results are incredible and our experience working with George and team was excellent. On time, clear communication, fair pricing and realistic expectations agreed upon in advance/no surprises. We would not hesitate to work with again.

    I have hired Independent Painters on three different occasions to repair and replace siding on my house in Maplewood as well as both interior and exterior painting. All work was prepared with great professionalism and I am very happy with the result. I highly recommend George and his crew.Siding on the most sun exposed wall needed replacement and the carpentry was excellent and they primed the knotty and tannin-stained areas with oil primer, so there would be no bleeding through. George used real pine wood siding and not the pre-painted siding that actually is a wood composite with a much shorter life span than real wood (which unfortunately was used in prior years by other contractors).Independent Painters painted the exterior house and carefully washed, sanded, spackled and caulked the wood to ensure a perfect foundation before painting with primer, followed by two coats of paint. The result is great – the house looks like it is new! Naturally, windows were covered and there were no spills.Finally, another of George’s crew did interior painting. The house is old and there were imperfections. The crew was diligent in sanding and spackling and sanding and spackling again to ensure a perfect surface before beginning painting. Thankfully, all interior sanding was done by hand to minimize dust. I am very pleased with the result and ceilings and walls look perfect now!I highly recommend George and Independent Contractor, Inc.

    The exterior of my home was just painted and looks great. This is the second time George has painted my house. The previous paint job lasted many more years than any others before. Also I should add that the crew wore masks and were very careful to social distance while they were on my property.In particular I have to commend the very meticulous preparation work--thorough sanding and smoothing and then application of primer. On the siding 2 coats are applied of high quality paint. The finished look is really good as was the clean up afterwards. Clean yard, clean windows and not a drip of paint where it did not belong. George also handled carpentry as required to replace some rotted wood in a few places. That work was also very well done. Replacement pieces matched the look of the original pieces on an 80 year old house. I could not be more pleased and I enjoyed my conversations with George who is very easy to work with.

    Independent Painters were incredible! We bought a new house that needed a fresh coat of paint on molding, baseboards, and walls. Jimmy and his crew took no short cuts! They sanded down everything there was to paint and applied multiple coats. Jorge was easy to work with and made sure I was satisfied with the service. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

    Did a professional quality job. Fairly priced. I trust them to do it right.     Independent painters recently painted my whole house and did extensive repair work on the gutters, siding and windows. They did an excellent job and my house has never looked better. The price was very fair and I especially appreciated the extra repairs that were done on areas of the house that I wouldn’t have noticed. I would definitely use them again but I probably won’t have to for a long while given the excellent quality of their work.

    George is a true partner when it comes to painting your home, inside and out. We were very happy two years ago with an interior paint job George’s team did for us. It has sustained over time and throughout he was present on the job to ensure its success. This is why we were committed to working with him for our exterior. We live in a 115 year old stucco house that needed a TON of love. Both carpentry, dead Ivy removal, small stucco repairs and a fresh coat of paint on storms, windows, trim and the body. George knew my passion for this project and worked with me through every step of the journey to ensure it was looking and feeling exactly as I hoped it would. My house literally looks brand new. I think most important (other than the good work) is that he was able to hear my requests throughout and work with his team (William was the lead painter - fantastic guy) to ensure I got exactly what I was looking for.     We recently had George and Independent Painters paint the exterior of our 104 year old stucco house and they did a really great job. They did stucco repair and some third floor shingle repair prior to painting. We are very pleased with the result. A different crew then did some interior plaster repair. I highly recommend them for this work, they matched an old plaster finish and did an amazing job and repaired a damaged plaster ceiling.Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly and resolved. All touch ups were taken care of even after the crew had left.We would use Independent painters again and would recommend them
