    For a long time, I looked for someone to make high-quality furniture and custom cabinets, specifically a custom-made office desk and custom built-in bookshelves for my study.     I found Belak Woodworking by Googling cabinet makers in Kansas City. After reading all of the five star reviews, I knew he was the craftsman I was looking for to build a display case for a ship that belonged to my uncle for many years. I remember looking at it on the mantel of their fireplace over 60 years ago. Nick is obviously a craftsman and a very nice person. I consider him a friend because he was always such a great person to work with on the display case.

    I mostly DIY everything because after I pay a bunch of money for sloppy work, I’m frequently frustrated—knowing I could have done a much better job myself for a significantly lower price. Since I was strapped for time, though, my husband finally convinced me to hire out our custom library shelving. I am so glad I hired Nick. He did an absolutely amazing job! There is NO way I could have done them as well, no matter how long I spent on the DIY project. I couldn’t be happier.He was punctual, fair, upfront about everything, and straightforward with all the communication. His calculations were impeccable—exactly as I had asked them to be. Install was smooth and easy. I’d recommend him to anyone needing custom woodwork.

    I cannot recommend Nick highly enough! He was responsive, timely, and a craftsman! We had a cabinet/bench with coat hooks built for a dental office waiting room, and it turned out beautifully. He cares about the details and obviously takes pride in his work. Speaking from experience, those traits are rare, if not impossible to find these days. If you want the vision for your project to come to life with precision and beauty, you should get Nick on it!

    This is a longer post, but for those people who find themselves in a similar situation, the context may resonate. In short--Nick is honest and his work is exceptional. He did everything he said he would do and stuck to the timeline.I had spent a year trying to find someone to make a custom executive desk--all Walnut. I went down roads with two different people. You will find that it will be difficult to find a large shop to make time for you. They are simply too busy to handle custom one-off projects. The other person was basically a shyster--plenty of them out there.-Steve

    Nick did amazing work! We contacted him through his website, shared our drawing of what we were wanting in our living room and worked closely with him on the design sharing thoughts and coming up with a plan. He is easy to work with, he made the entire process easy for us and our busy schedules.Believe him when he says he uses quality materials and hardware. The drawer glides are metal and are truly soft/quiet closure as well as the cabinet doors.He will be a tremendous resource as you are working through you plans and measurements. The process is logical and easy to follow and support.

    My wife and I wanted a custom cabinet/cupboard designed and built for our new apartment. We Googled woodworking, found Nicks reviews and gave him a call. He was great to work with, had good suggestions, and we felt the price was very fair and competitive. He made a beautiful cabinet that fits in the space and provides wonderful storage. He was able to accommodate our timeline and schedule and we were extremely pleased with the finished product. He is now painting the doors and drawers of the vanity in the guest bathroom.     Wonderful experience working with Nick for our custom walk-in closet and pantry. I gave Nick my design ideas and he improved on them immensely to maximize our space and storage capabilities.     I recently needed a Master Woodworker for a Home renovation project. I knew what I wanted (Custom Cabinets / Built-in Closets / Bathroom Vanities) but had no idea how to get started. I had spoken with a few other woodworkers in Kansas City but then was referred to Nick at Belak Woodworking in Kansas City.From our initial meeting until project completion, Nicks highest priority was to deliver exactly what he had promised. When I had the opportunity to visit his Woodshop in KC, it was clean, organized, and well-maintained.     This is our second time working with Nick. When the pieces arrive - you know there’s something special inside - as the shipping crate is as solid as a Trojan horse. His work is that of a century’s old craftsman whose pieces become instant family heirlooms the minute they enter our home. We’ve had three pieces made so far, including two bathroom vanities that are both pieces of handcrafted furniture. The third piece is a custom cabinet that is as refined as a sleek media console.     I called Nick at Belak Woodworking to make a bed for my severely disabled 5 year old granddaughter who had outgrown her crib and needed a padded bed that would keep her safe while she sleeps. I showed him a picture of what we wanted. We previously attempted to find a therapeutic bed with one of the companies that make these types of beds. They were extremely expensive and we could not afford one. Nick jumped on this project and because of my granddaughters situation he worked with us to make this affordable. The bed is amazing and the quality and workmanship was top notch. He also built in extra features we didnt think of that allow us to make changes to accommodate my granddaughters needs. More than anything I was impressed not only with the quality of the work but the heart he put into it. His sincere empathy for my granddaughters situation was heart warming. He finished the project ahead of time and installed it. Great guy who does great work. I had the opportunity to see other projects he was working on while I was in his shop and I highly recommend him for any custom woodworking you need.

    Our custom office was collaboratively designed and built to specification. It was installed on time and without incident. Nick is professional, knowledgeable and has attention to quality and detail. He was great to work with and we are thrilled with the quality and function of our finished office.     We hired Belak Woodworking to create a custom made table for our office. We insisted that it complement existing decorative pieces in the office. We worked with Nick to layout the general approach we were after and after a couple of emails and a phone call it was as if he could picture exactly what we wanted. He crafted an extraordinary piece of furniture that exceeded EVERYTHING we had designed and wanted. The project was completed exactly on time and Nick even passed some savings from the quoted price on to us since he was able to source the materials from a different place. When delivered, the shipping company was as impressed with the shipping crate as they were with the furniture they un-crated. My only hope is that Nick will one day accept our invitation to stop by and see how perfectly his creation fits with our life.

    I worked with Nick from Belak Woodworking to build two custom bathroom cabinets. My husband and I are in the process of renovating our bathrooms, which will include the installation of custom countertops. As part of this process, I was looking to replace our vanities (needed something without tops), but was having a very hard time finding affordable, quality bathroom cabinets; this led me to start exploring custom options. I came across Nick in my searches and provided some very basic spec information, he responded within a matter of hours and set an in person meeting to come look at the job. He provided helpful suggestions on ways we could increase our bathroom storage and was very timely with all of his communications.The final product arrived last week and they are BEAUTIFUL! They beat, hands down, anything you will find in a store or online; very high quality, solid furniture!Id definitely use Nick again and would recommend him both for his professionalism and excellent workmanship.

    Nick Hadzhiev designed and built two custom tables for me that are masterpieces. His design skills and workmanship are BRILLIANT. The first piece was a ming coffee table with a cutout for glass. I was so impressed with that piece that I commissioned a dining room table to custom fit my dining room. In a word - FABULOUS!!! I live in California, so for both pieces, Nick built a custom crate in which to ship them. They arrived flawless. If you are looking for custom furniture, I would encourage you to give Nick a call, as he is not only a master woodworker, he is a pleasure to do business with.

    Nick Hadzhiev just completed a custom cantilevered shelving system for me based on a design I provided him. He constructed this unit from hard maple and various metal components crafted by Tom Jennings, a metal worker a couple of doors down from Nick’s place of business. I searched extensively for a cantilevered shelving system for my guitar amplifiers and found nothing but industrial use steel or aluminum systems. Nick took my design, made some improvements to it and produced an amazing piece of furniture that is both beautiful and absolutely functional. We decided on a medium brown, satin finish that shows off the gorgeous maple grain. This shelving system is actually two 76 inch tall by 36 inch wide cantilevered shelving units that when combined, provide me four 72 inch wide shelves. The top three shelves are each adjustable to 3 different height settings, which provides great flexibility. This shelving unit is incredibly strong with each cantilevered shelf supporting approximately 150 pounds with no sagging or tipping over. This shelving system is so well constructed that it will definitely outlive me, probably my kids and will end up with my future grandchildren someday. Nick was incredibly easy to work with, had great ideas to improve the project, quoted me a fair price and stuck to it. Nick far exceeded my expectations in form, finish and quality of this unique piece of furniture. I could not recommend him more highly and look forward to our next project.

    Belak Woodworking is AMAZING. I am an Interior Designer in San Francisco and just used Belak Woodworking for a very detail oriented client. She had her heart set on a ming coffee table. We could not find the right dimensions or color and than we came across Belak Woodworkings amazing work. Nick customized an oversized ming coffee table in the dimensions, style and color we wanted and it is truly the focal point of the room. He was able to get it completed well under the timeline. It shipped to San Francisco in a protective crate and came in absolute mint condition! I will be using them for ALL my custom woodworking needs in the future! LOVE LOVE them!

    Wow! Belak built an complete customized home office set-up for me - floating Walnut Desk, Floor-to-Ceiling storage and even a bonus humidor for my cigar collection.     Ive been looking for a coffee table for my living room for several years. There was nothing in the stores that appealed to me. I was browsing on the Custom Made site and fell in love with a walnut coffee table made by Belak Woodworking. I contacted Nick about the table. He responded quickly. I had questions about what kind of woods he worked with, size, stain etc. Nick is very knowledgeable and my vision of a new coffee table become a reality. Within a few weeks my new table arrived.     I recently commissioned Nick to create a completely custom version of a media cabinet, which I needed to serve a couple of specific purposes. I am an extremely picky person, but could not be more impressed with the final product. It is absolutely beautiful and flawlessly executed. Nick is without a doubt a true craftsman and provides excellent communication before, during, and after the project ships. The symmetry of every individual piece of wood on my cabinet is absolutely perfect and the finish -- from the slight bevels and smooth edges to the stain and coating -- is impeccable. It was also packed & crated extremely securely. Im very rarely so impressed!!!
