    Collin was the most professional, courteous, diligent consultant Ive ever worked with. I needed a new roof quickly and Character Exteriors handled every detail seamlessly; from thermal imaging to find water damage to AI modeling to ensure we loved the shingle color and style.You pay for quality when you work with Collin and thats exactly what you get. His crew had my roof done in a day with impeccable cleanup, it was like they were never there. Everyone was extremely professional and friendly.If you need exterior work done, this is the company to do it with. Ive done a lot of large projects in the past and this was by far the best experience from start to finish.

    Collin is without a doubt the best contractor to work with. We first worked with him in 2020 when our roof was leaking. The quality of his roofing work withstood the tornado in May, unfortunately our attached garage did not. Collin worked with our insurance to get everything covered and seemlessly coordinated all the other companies we needed to work with including C5 electric and Rodgers heating and cooling, which Collin also helped get those services covered.The crew that came to work on our house was incredibly kind and respectful of our space. They were always willing to answer any questions we had and even helped me back out around their equipment and into a road with very fast traffic. Myself and our daughter always felt safe around the crew.We cannot recommend Character exteriors(also character interiors) enough and look forward to working with them for future projects.

    We called Character to replace our siding after a less than stellar experience with another contractor. Nick Wilson is truly an insurance whisperer. The attention to detail, communication and customer service from the whole team was top notch. Ashley in the office was always pleasant and happy to help when I called with questions, Bob and Colin were also great at keeping me updated on the progress of the project and insurance claim. The crew worked hard everyday and cleaned up at the end of each day so you didnā€™t even know they were there. Not one piece of material was left behind. We definitely will call character with any future projects and recommend them to everyone we know. Milwood is lucky to have them!

    Character Exteriors checked all of the boxes: great communication, expertise, and competitive pricing. From the beginning Dawn followed up right away, answered all of our questions, and brought in Collin to address our more complex roofing issues. Collin is a professional: took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure we understood the answers. It put us at ease that we were in great hands. I am also very happy Dawn talked us into some other shingle colors to consider, and that Collin suggested the higher profile ridges, and metal valleys for a better look and function to better handle our various leaves. We feel this looks great on our English Tudor. And, these were not sales pitch items. These were all relatively insignificant costs with great value. Other roofers could have just looked past all of our questions and concerns to get the job done. But again, they took the time to address our specific concerns. In addition, they fixed rotting trim including both recessed and raised on cement stucco siding with high quality material that will not rot. Daniel and his crew did a great job on the trim. Highly recommend!

    Start to Finish a great experience with Collin and the Character Exteriors team. Our roof was damaged by hail, rather than look to an out of town contractor we wanted someone local.Collin gave us a great competitive estimate along with recommendations on both upgrades as well as cost savings opportunities. Collins approach and communication on how the job would be executed gave me the confidence in Character Exteriors to execute this work.The crew worked very well together and demonstrated safe work practices during the tear off and roof replacement. They did an awesome job cleaning up each day.     Patriot roofing was sent out to inspect our roof and claimed there was hail damage during the sale of our home. This caused the lender to not write a mortgage for the buyers unless we replace our entire roof due to the roof inspection claiming hail damage. Keep in mind our roof was 7 years old and definitely did not have hail damage. We got ahold of Nick Wilson at Character Exteriors to come and inspect for hail damage to try to bring a 2nd opinion to the table. Nick offered to help free of charge and did a thorough inspection, finding no signs of hail damage. With his help, we were able to get the lender to understand the true condition of the roof and help us navigate this situation and get our buyers approved with clear transparency of our true roofing condition. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Nick Wilson!

    Ive had a wonderful experience with Character Exteriors!! I bought a house with roof issues that werent disclosed by the seller and werent reported by the home inspector. Needless to say, it was a surprise to us to have water coming in when we moved in. Collin came out and did an inspection with a thermal camera and evaluated the roof and explained the problem in detail to help us understand. He really took the time to walk through every question I had about the product and installation process, and I had a lot of questions. The price to replace the roof was very competitive and the quality of the work is outstanding!! We took advantage of the incredible finance offer available since we didnt anticipate replacing the roof so soon after buying the house, it really helped. Were also working with Collin to have siding and windows updated soon, which we did anticipate when we bought the house, and I cant wait! I know theyll do such an amazing job!!

    If I could give more than 5 starts, I would! Iā€™m selling my home and needed a new roof put on ASAP. After calling just about every roofing company in Kalamazoo, they all told me they were booked until spring. I spoke to Collin and explained my situation. He assured me that although there were pretty busy, that he would make it work.After getting a quote from Collin, I had a few companies that had openings come up and they came out to give us a quote. Character Exterior definitely had the best price with a full warranty on the roof for the new owner.Collin was great to work with and didnā€™t mind me messaging him with questions after hours. His work crew was extremely professional while on our property working. The clean up was done very well. You would have no idea that a roof had just been tore off. They were even out in the dark with headlamps on making sure nothing was left behind.If you need a roof or any other work done, give Character Exterior a call for a quote. You wonā€™t regret it!Oh yeah, the roof looks amazing too!!

    We had a large tree limb fall onto our roof during the February 2023 ice storm, which caused damage to part of our roof, some gutters, and our chimney. We originally had a different company lined up to take down the limb and do the repairs, but they took a long time to remove the limb and Matt Ritchie, who had worked on the original roof installation only a year ago, saw it and stopped by to ask how repairs were going. They were not going and we had still not heard about when they would be out to remove the tree from the roof so we were a little worried about the other company handling everything. As a result, we decided to work with Matt and Character Exteriors for all repairs after the tree limb was removed. We are really happy to have made that decision because the repairs were handled with clear communication, well done, and done fairly quickly. They also did a good job of cleaning up after their work. As new homeowners, we never had a home insurance claim before and Matt was very helpful in working with insurance so that all work was covered with fairly minimal effort on our part. He also managed to find a bricklayer to repair the chimney, which was not easy to do. Rileigh was also really great in communicating exact dates and times for work to take place, which shifted due to rainy weather in April. Everyone else we interacted with was really kind and helpful. Hopefully we will not need any exteriors work for some time, but if we do we have no reason to go anywhere else other than Character Exteriors.

    Collin and his crews were great to work with. All were professional, polite and very easy to work with. Collin was very helpful in picking the new color of our siding and even proactively secured the siding for us, knowing that materials were very tight. He was able to schedule our project in the tight timeframe we asked for, we realize other contractors may not be this flexible. He knew we had a less than pleasant experience with a roofing contractor and wanted to make sure our experience with Character would me much better. He greatly exceeded this goal. He even sent a crew, on very short notice, to repair shoddy work that was done on our roof by a different contractor. I would highly recommend Character Exterior for any project you are considering.

    Collin Winfrey came to inspect our roof and could not have been more courteous and thoughtful. He was honest in regards to what he didnt think needed to be completed which I was very thankful for. Having someone that will come and look at an area of potential concern and then verify that your concerns are not a problem is very rare. Many people may take advantage of someone by feeding into their concerns. It just show the integrity that character operates with. Its experiences like this that will certainly make me a customer in the future when the need does exist.Since initially meeting with Collin, we have since worked with them to replace our windows, roof, gutters, siding and exterior doors and had them add insulation in our attic. I cannot express how impressed I am with this company and the work they do. They are incredibly professional and do amazing work. Each company has a good reputation and its own advantages, it made us a little struggled with which one we should pick.     We could not be happier with our new roof and the service that we received from Character Exteriors. Collin is very knowledgeable and is able to explain the roofing products thoroughly and answered all of our questions. Collin and his crew arrived when they said they would and were done with the job in one day. Our roof is beautiful. What I was most impressed with is the way they set up their equipment to protect our house and yard and then VERY thoroughly cleaned up. I had some concerns about nails as we have two dogs and we spend a lot of time in our backyard. The entire yard, front and back, was visually inspected with several passes, raked, and gone over with a large magnet. Super job all around--we highly recommend Character Exteriors!

    Bob Ackerman at Character Exteriors has my highest recommendation. Very quickly he was able to identify my garageā€™s seriously damaged structure and explain how it can be fixed. This was missed by 3 highly rated roofing companies, two insurance adjusters, and a structural engineer! If Bob hadnā€™t pointed out this oversight, I wouldnā€™t have found the problem and the whole building may have not been salvageable. I am so grateful and am in awe of the skill Bib brought to my job. I would have been throwing money away if I wasnā€™t lucky enough to get an appraisal from Character. Quotes are free, do yourself a big favor and give these folks a chance before you make your decision. Or you wonā€™t know what you are missing! Sorry to sound so dramatic but good grief!     First time Ive had someone else do work for me on our home and I couldnt be happier. We had Character Exteriors install gutters on our house. Collin was very knowledgeable and professional. Even though he was busy he managed to get back with me about any questions or concerns very quickly. We got a few estimates and he was right in line with the others (actually lower but I know the best isnt always the cheapest), I also felt like I could trust he would follow through with what he said he would do. He had a crew in the area so they were able to knock out the project much faster than I expected. I was able to run some ideas by the installers and get their opinion last minute and everything came out great.     We had hail damage to the roof of our house, attached garage and unattached garage. We contacted Collin at Character Exteriors (which is a local business). He came right over to give us an estimate and also worked with our insurance adjuster to make sure we received an allowance for the things that the adjuster missed. Before they removed the old shingles they put up a netting/tarp from the top of the siding to the ground to protect and catch falling debris. We have never seen that done before but were very impressed. Their workmanship, integrity, product quality and customer care is second to none.     What a great company to work with! Collin was on top of all of our requests and was very accommodating with scheduling. His crews were friendly and approachable. They went above and beyond to protect our property from damage while they worked.We had a particularly difficult tear off that took longer than expected but his crew worked overtime and managed to get the roof done on schedule. They also removed a chimney and put on gutters with Valor gutter guards.     I highly recommend Character Exteriors for any gutter or roofing needs! I cannot begin to describe the level of outstanding customer service that has been provided by this company. We recently had a roof completely re-done and despite many unexpected issues with our old roof, they took the extra time and labor to give us an amazing, brand-new roof for a GREAT price! We loved their work so much, we asked them to do our gutters too! With a 50 year warranty, its hard to beat that deal!     Character is a top notch roofing company and I am very glad we went with them. Dawn was very professional from the start and it didnt feel like a sales pitch, which I appreciated. She was up front and honest about the price and didnt try to oversell us on something we didnt need. It helped that they were cheaper than the other company we got a quote from as well. The best part was they installed our roof within 3 weeks from signing the contract. They showed up right on time, got the roof replaced in one day and completely cleaned up everything their catch all system didnt get. If you are getting a roof replaced, I would highly recommend them.

    Just had gutters installed! Been too long hassling with leaves, some put together gutters that were leaking, cleaning, etc. We have a walkout and one spot along the roof line is about 25-30 ft high! We couldnt put regular gutters there because #1 Im not doing it, and #2 No way to clean them! We have a tremendous amount of leave debris, cottonwood seeds, small sticks, etc. Character Exteriors was only one of the few in Michigan that sold and installed the Valor Gutter Guard system. So, ordered new gutters with this system and wow! House foundation is much drier, water is moving away now instead of toward the home. No more cleaning gutters! Best part, I can stop spending time worrying about water getting under the foundation. Lot of attention to detail, colors matched well, great cleanup. Showed up when they were supposed to! Great interaction. We have another project and will have them back when we are ready. Thank you Character Exteriors for a great job!

    Some lovely Michigan weather resulted in damage to the roof on my vacation home. One of my neighbors recommended Collin / Character Exteriors, and the process was super easy. Because I dont live in the area, I appreciated that they looked at the damage and provided video footage with commentary that I could review on my own. They were patient and realistic in exploring my options. It rained the day the work was scheduled, but Collin kept me informed and rescheduled the job quickly. The team replaced the whole roof in one day - my neighbors were very impressed. Overall a great experience, and with the GAF Ultra HD 50 year shingles I hopefully wont have to think about my roof again for many years. Thank you!

    Excellent company to do business with. It was a great experience and I highly recommend Character Exteriors.I found Character Exteriors through Google search. They had a 5/5 star rating with 55 reviews. I know that a 5/5 rating on Google is nearly impossible to achieve. My experience with Character Exteriors completely supports this rating.Character Exteriors was prompt in replying to my inquiry (Sunday) for a new roof and gutters for my house and garage. They got back to me on Monday. On Wednesday Dawn (project consultant) came to my house to inspect and take pictures and measurements. Later the same day Dawn emailed a detailed inspection report. I met with Dawn on Thursday to review their proposal. She spent about two hours going over the proposal and answering my questions. I had MANY questions, most of which she was able to answer. For those questions that she was unsure or didnā€™t know the answer, she called and/or texted the owner (Collin) and project manager (Dan) on the spot while we were talking to get answers for me immediately. I signed the contract at that meeting. Work could have been scheduled to start within days or a week but was intentionally scheduled to start two and a half weeks later at my request because I wanted to be home when the work was done.On the day that work started, Collin showed up first to drop off some supplies. He was happy to answer any further questions that I had. The work crew that showed up worked incredibly hard. The roofs are a low pitch and only one story but required about 40 squares of shingles total. This crew got the job done in one day. They did a great job, were professional, pleasant and polite, and again, worked incredibly hard.The second day the gutters were placed. I wasnā€™t home for that but Dan did a great job.There were just a few minor hiccups along the way but this company and Collin are ALL ABOUT making it right. If there was an issue or a concern, it was addressed immediately and made right immediately. I couldnā€™t have asked for or expected better.Chris (sales support), Dawn (project consultant), Dan (project manager), and Collin (owner) were all great at keeping in touch, as needed, all along the way during the project. They all went above and beyond what is probably typical industry standard, which is probably one of the reasons that their review ratings are so good.This was a great experience and a major win in finding Character Exteriors.

    We absolutely love Collin and his team at Character Exteriors. They did a roof tear off at our home in September 2018. We had a house fire yesterday and had loss in a portion of our roof.     Character Exteriors is IMO by far the best company in town at what they do. I hired them for roof, gutters, fascia, soffit, and siding. They replaced all bad wood with new wood. They did not rush any of the jobs. Top Notch. They came back to make sure things were OK. Heck, they even sent someone back to clean up a little mess made by an electrician well beyond and after the job I contracted them was done.     Character exteriors came out and did new siding on my house. They identified some problem areas from water damage and fixed those issues while putting the siding on. They did great work with installing the siding and windows as well as fixing the water damaged parts of the house. They do charge a bit more than other places, but you canā€™t beat the quality, not to mention the warranties they give as well. I will definitely be contacting them for all of my exterior home needs.

They did a roof tear off and installation along with replacing 3 sky lights and replaced our gutters on the front, I thought there quote was extremely competitive, but it was their service that stood out in the end.
