I had Phil install a EV charging station running conduit from the fuse box in my basement up through the wall in the garage. All I can say is USE Phil. Skip the BMW and Volvo referrals of National “matchmaking” services. Phil is not only the best and most knowledgeable electrician I have had in my home of over 20 years, he is the best service provider as well. Know that he is booked out pretty far (totally understandable given his professionalism), however you should be patient and wait for him. You will not regret it. While I learned more about electricity than I intended, I am grateful for everything he taught me. This is even more important if you have an older house and are thinking about other projects. Phil dissuaded me from installing a 220 outlet in the garage, which other services recommend due to the up charge. Instead, use the hardwired approach. Just have him show you what happens to a 220 outlet after repeated use. Phil saved me future grief and major cash outlays later.

Phil is the best tradesperson we’ve ever had work at our house. His work is impeccable and he is extremely knowledgeable. He did a major upgrade on the electric panel on our coach house built in the 20’s. He has also rewired antique light fixtures as well as replace all our smoke alarms (hard wired) and replaced many fixtures. As a person, he is wonderful to have in your home - educated, respectful, and professional. You will want to adopt him! I cannot recommend him enough - you will not be disappointed.

Phil diagnosed the problems, disabled a malfunctioning and unnecessary under-cabinet switch that had been installed by others many years ago, presented my options for improving the electrical connections to two appliances and separately installed three new wall switches, all in approximately a half hour. The charge was competitive.

I can’t say enough good things about Phitz Electric! We’ve used Phil twice and both times we were thrilled. We have an old bungalow with original crown molding from the 1920’s and plaster ceilings. The first project was adding can lights in our living room. I was so concerned about the crown molding being damaged with the sawing into the ceiling but Phil assured me it would stay intact and it did. The job is perfect and we love the new look.The second job was to add can lights in our basement. Phil was confident that he could make it work with our ducts and the floor above and he did! It’s so awesome now! I appreciate how clean and neat Phil is, always cleaning up after himself and how reliable and trustworthy he is. Do not bother with anyone else, he’s the best.

I had a great experience with Phil. I called him because our lights were flickering. He identified a legitimate concern that could have been the reason. It wound up not being the reason, but a concern nonetheless, that needed to be fixed. He fixed it and then kept brainstorming with us, on what could be causing the flickering. He figured out it was a ComEd issue, and coached us on what to say when we called to get them to come out with little hassle. ComEd came out twice, to fix two problems outside, and we are hoping the second fix does the job (we think it did, but they just did it today, so cant be sure yet). Bottom line is Phil has been a huge help figuring this problem out, and also taking care of the electrical problems that we had inside of the house. He explains things really well, does a good job, has followed up with me to make sure ComEd came out and fixed the problem, is reasonably priced and is just an all around nice guy. Highly recommend Phitz Electric.
