I wanted to share how wonderful it was to work with Matthew in repurposing a stereo cabinet that had been my grandparents from the 1940s. I had been contemplating what to do with this cabinet for years. I wanted to maintain it’s original beauty yet create some function that would be current for life now. I set my heart on having this look like a stereo cabinet on the outside but become a wine cabinet on the inside. Matthew listened to my vision and was able to bring it to fruition. He kept me updated throughout the entire woodworking project and he shared pictures so that I could see the progress as it occurred. The final result is just beautiful and happily very functional. My father was so pleased to hear that this family piece will continue to have life and stay in the family as he shared childhood memories of laying in front of this stereo cabinet, listening to the Tigers play and mysteries broadcasted on the radio. I would absolutely recommend Matthew’s woodworking talents for any project that you might have in mind.

I just picked up my two rocking chairs that were quite old and needed stripping, staining and other repair. They look magnificent! Matthew kept me abreast of the progress the entire time, sending photos and also thoroughly explaining the process. These chairs were owned by grandparents, and are for my daughters someday. I just could not be more pleased. It was done in a timely way and reasonably priced. I also purchased a beautiful candle holder that he made that has received a lot of compliments. Thank you!! I highly recommend this great place!

I am absolutely thrilled with Matthews work on my vintage chairs. He took wobbly old things that had jerry-rigged cushions and fixed the wobbles, installed caning (much as they were originally), repainted, and then distressed them so the beautiful carving stands out. All this for a reasonable price and on-time.

I have a dining room antique oak table that had burn marks and water stains on it. After researching a few woodworking places in the area, ( some of which I never heard back from,) Renovatio gave me a quick quote and refinished my table beautifully within a short amount of time. I would highly recommend their work! Hard to find real craftsmen for this type of work. So lucky to have such a craftsman in our area.

Back in March, we took our table top to Renovatio to have it refinished. We were thrilled with the final product! Not only did Matthew do an excellent job of finishing it, he also added clips that pull the two pieces together in the center for a tighter fit. Over the years, there had been a lot of warping; the gap between the two pieces was getting bigger.

Matthew has twice now repaired wood furniture for me. He does an excellent job of maintaining the integrity of the pieces when making the repairs. I have recommended him to others in the past and will continue to do so. Hell have my furniture repair business until he retires!

I asked Matthew to make a bench for my mud room that we could sit on when putting on or removing shoes. He made a beautiful oak bench that I would be happy to use in any room of my house. I had an antique table repaired and Matthew was thoughtful about keeping the repairs discreet and preserving the integrity of the character of the table. He was done in a day. Will definitely use him again for repairs.

I had an awesome experience here! Beautifully crafted pieces of furniture and art, but also some nice small gifts for those who want to pick up something thoughtful. Local places like these are the reason Chelsea is such a beautiful and appreciative place. I will be returning!

I took a chair in for repair. The repair was completed in two days and turned out great. I cant even tell the difference between it and the other chairs in the set without knowing where to look for the repair.

Matthew Millar at Renovatio Woodworks is a true craftsman. He recreated a unique trim for my 110-year old Victorian house. It was so perfect I was reluctant to paint it to match. It is flawless and beautiful. You will not be disappointed with his work or his professional demeanor. He can make wood do what he wants it to. I highly recommend Renovatio for any fine furniture or woodwork task.
