    Not sure I need to leave a 5-star review since JMS already has sooooooo many, but I figure when you receive exceptional service, its worth noting. We had a major water leak a couple days before New Years. Terrible timing! Our first call was to JMS and Sarah responded super fast and scheduled us for an emergency visit. The repair unfortunately required extensive work so we did have to wait another day to get it all fixed (only because there was a lot of coordination that needed to happen), but Sarah stayed late on New Years Eve to help sort out the details. And when the crew arrived (on time and ready to go!) it was a very cold day with excessive winds - not a great day to be working outside. But they got the job done! Zack was especially kind with all my questions. I would come out to check on their progress and he explained everything along the way - sometimes twice if my husband came out separately. It was a messy job on a miserable day, but the whole crew was super cool. They seriously went above and beyond.

    I cant say enough good things about JMS! As the temperature began to drop right before Thanksgiving to freezing, my old furnace gave out, leaving me in a tough spot. Mike went above and beyond to ensure I got a new furnace installed quickly. The team at JMS were professional, efficient, and incredibly hardworking.From the first call, JMS service was excellent—they genuinely cared about my situation. The guys who installed the new furnace were skilled, courteous, and left everything clean when they were done. They even took care of a basement light fixture I kept putting off fixing (thanks!). I’m so grateful for their fast, responsive, and reliable service.I highly recommend JMS for anyone needing HVAC help, especially during emergencies.     The gentlemen who responded worked diligently to discover the issue. Once determined, they explained everything fully and recommended that we contact our insurance company.Mike sent an email with the bill explaining the issue so that we could submit to the insurance company And if the company wanted to speak with Mike he gave us the emergency contact number as he is covering this weekend.Very helpful and we feel very comfortable going forward for this company to do the work.     We decided to call JMS after moving into our new home and finding our central AC unit to not be working. We had called another company and they quoted us to replace the whole unit. We had heard great things about JMS and decided we wanted to get a second opinion. Kevin came out (and arrived exactly at 8am!!) and took a look at the system. I decided I wanted his honest opinion so I decided not to disclose that another local company had come out and given us a quote to replace the whole unit. He immediately jumped right into fixing the problem. I was shocked because the last company had told us it was a total loss. He took time to explain everything to me, was patient, answered all of my questions and after 3 hours of hard work, he was able to get the unit up and running.We are beyond pleased with Kevin and JMS Plumbing. He was able to save us thousands of dollars and a lot of stress. We would recommend JMS to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy and honest company. We are blown away by this and could not be more satisfied.

    I called JMS yesterday for a non-emergency job (new gas line run for the wifes new stove) and they got me in and completed in less than 24hrs. Kevin was very knowledgeable and very clean. These folks are all A++ and I will certainly be using them for my future plumbing/heating needs!

    Kenneth was awesome! He spent over an hour cleaning and inspecting my 19 year old furnace. After he was done, I instantly noticed a change in airflow and temperature coming out of the vents. Well worth the money. As before, will be having JMS back in the future.

    Awesome service. I had an emergency situation. They fit me into their already tight schedule. It turns out that there were two clogs. One at the trap. Another caused by tree roots in the sewer line from the house to the main. JMS fixed both! I was so relieved.Steve was knowledgeable, polite, and kept me informed along the way which I greatly appreciated. I will definitely use them again.

    JMS plumbing is my favorite plumbing company in the Cortland and Groton areaThey responded quickly to my questions and request for an electric water heater.Excellent communication with the office and their field technician. Always keeping me updated as to arrival time.The technician Kevin was beyond professional and knowledgeable. He cared about not making any type of mess by covering not only his shoes, but the entire path from front door to the closet where tank was.He knew what to do and worked quickly, but accurately . After this experience with JMS, I will only use them and will recommend them to family, friends and neighbors.

    We had concerns about a potential gas leak after some outrageous NYSEG bills. JMS promptly scheduled us. Kevin came out and was professional, courteous, and took his time to evaluate every potential problem. He also left us with some good info about potential energy upgrades we could consider making.     I found my water heater failed on a Sunday afternoon. I heard back from JMS promptly Monday morning and had their technician Steve at my house before 830am. He quickly assessed that a replacement was necessary and explained in detail why, in addition to some corrections to my homes existing plumbing necessary to meet standards for installation of the new unit. There was no delay, or scheduling later in the day or the next day, he explained this was getting done right away.Steve was as courteous and professional as he could be and was obviously expert and shared details and explained in depth what he planned to do and why, and answered any questions I could think of. His partner on this job, Zach, was just as excellent as Steve. These guys were both nice guys, personable, very willing to share knowledge, they are FANTASTIC as customer service professionals, and clearly expert at their trade.Steve walked me through at the end of the job, which did end up needing little going above and beyond, and gave me some tips on dealing with hard water trouble. He quoted a single flat price for the water heater installation with a unit of JMSs standard, and despite what looked to me like some extra stuff showing up, THAT was what they charged. Top notch. No surprises post job.I had hot water back less then 24 hours losing it on a Sunday. I couldnt ask for better than that!Im already getting more quotes from them for NON urgent work I plan. EXCELLENT experience all around from a hometown company (which was a critical factor). Absolutely recommend and will employ their services again!Thanks again, JMS Team!

    Top notch professional service by Mike and the company! Weve had JMS service our boiler system for several years now, and they are always quick and efficient to get us on the schedule. When our 30+ year old system finally failed, JMS was able to install a new tankless system in a day. Mike, Kevin, and RJ did a clean, professional job rebuilding the pipes and venting. It is clear they keep themselves educated on their work and they stayed late into the evening to ensure everything was working up to their standards and we had any questions answered. Highly recommend giving them a call!

    I found a leak in my main water pipe one morning, and Mike was able to come out the same afternoon to help resolve the problem.Despite the pipes being very old and crusty, he was able to carefully remove the old part and put in a replacement within 15 minutes.Overall, he and the staff were very professional and easy to work with.

    (Post date: 12/21/24) Over all the 10/16/24 installation went well and currently the heating system is working well and keeping us warm in the current cold weather conditions. There were a few minor things that were overlooked in the process. While nstalling the line to the thermostat a light lense in the basement was broken. The sill where the furnace intake and exhaust went through the dwelling exterior wall was not reinsulated. The sill where the gas line comes into the basement was not reinsulated. The furnace malfunctioned on the initial start due to possible incorrect electrial grounding. JMS was quick to remedy that malfuction. After the installation was completed a NYSEG worker in the area detected an exterior gas leak in the gas line between the meter and the gas line before it entered the residence. JMS quickly took care of this gas leak. There were multiple small air leaks in some of the seams in the plenum. We also had a corner piece of vinyl siding broken, but I think NYSEG has something to do with that. In spite of the minor issues I would still highly recommend JMS.

    Much love and appreciation for the amazing team at JMS plumbing. My furnace was intermittently turning off so since were hosting Christmas I didnt want it to be 56 degrees inside so I called JMS the following morning. I spoke with Sarah who said they had over 60 messages but if they could fit me in theyd have Kenny R. come over and assess the issues.I actually had a service call scheduled with them for 1.2.25 but they made every accommodation possible and Kenny R. who is a magician with his expertise and skill showed up the day before Christmas Eve at 5:00pm. Im sure Kenny had worked a very long day dealing with some of those 60 messages so I didnt expect someone all smiles and eager to solve my furnace issues.Kenny R. diagnosed the issue after about an hour so he didnt even leave my house before 6pm. Then Kenny the following day on CHRISTMAS EVE took the time on such a special day to call me to see if everything was okay. Who the hell cares enough about their customers on Christmas Eve? Id be stoned off my ass enjoying time with friends and family.I was truly shocked he would take the time to inquire so Im very lucky to have a local company that does everything they can for their customers. If you need ANYTHING done at your residence inquire with them if they offer that service. So much thanks to the great team at JMS plumbing and specifically Kenny R. for saving my Christmas! Well done Kenny!

    The new boiler/hot water combo looks awesome. The gentlemen that were here Kevin, Travis and Mike stopped by were all very pleasant. They answered all my concerns. Kevin returned today to take care of a few things. We had a great chat while he was working. He was great ! 😊👏👏 Forgot to mention Sarah. She is so pleasant and so helpful. She makes it easy to talk to her. She is awesome! 😊 After living with an old boiler for 58 years, change is hard. After a week of the original installment, 4/23/24 I had some more concerns and questions. The owner, Mike came over yesterday 4/30/24 to help me and explain some things to me. I appreciated the time he spent with me. He was so patient, pleasant, kind and helpful. Such a gentleman. I wanted to thank all of you !     Amazing service, came and did startup on my new furnace at no charge and very quickly when my propane was finally installed. Great technician, cant say enough positive things about them. Also very nice installation, neat and professional work.Then had them back again for some plumbing. Did an amazing job. Incredibly well done.     Zack and Mike arrived on schedule, once the new well pump was delivered. They spent much of the day replacing the well pump and making adjustments to the electronics governing the pump. When they got everything working, they realized the pump should be lower in the well. They returned to the office gather the necessary materials; then came back to my house and finished the job. Ive been happily getting all the water, hot or cold, I need for daily use. The JMS folks are friendly, ready to answer questions, fully expert in what they are doing, and meticulous in making sure they complete the job as required. This company is superb in every way imaginable.

    Just noticed the post below didnt post from our last call to JMS. Below this is our post from yesterdays call to JMS.We called JMS yesterday for a leak under the kitchen sink. They were able to come out the same day. As always they were friendly, provided good service and charged a reasonable price. We looked looked at each other at the same time and said we need to call JMS. After quotes of $2500-3000 we decided to do it ourselves with wifes request if we ran into issues with plumbing we call JMS.JMS came out first thing the next morning.     Coldest day of the year and my basement was filling with water. The quickest to shut the water off was by cutting all of the power to the house. No water, no heat, no lights. A lot of anxiety.     On 1/9/2024 we had Zack install our new kitchen sink and fixture. He had to essentially re-plumb the whole thing, and did a beautiful job of cleaning up. He was on time and was friendly and courteous from start to finish, and the entire experience couldnt have been better. Id recommend him without reservation. On 2/28/2024 Steve removed and replaced one of our toilets, and again was prompt, friendly and courteous. The fitment of a new toilet had been a problem for many years, inasmuch as the old unit was over 50 years old and just barely cleared a permanent heat duct cover. Mike located one that work work, and Steve did a beautiful job putting it in. JMS has serviced and ultimately replaced our furnace, replaced a bad hot water tank with a tankless system, and has done assorted other plumbing and heating work for us for well over 25 years. They are responsive to calls, show up on time, and do great work. We wouldnt call anyone else.

    I have had to use JMS for both HVAC and plumbing including my well system. My HVAC problems during the summer months took numerous times to repair not because of JMS but because of delays in shipping parts from the manufacturer. Again very professional. Shortly after the service man left, I had NO water. They said it would be about 60 to 90 minutes because he just got to another call. Right on time not only the service man but the owner was out to check the problem.     Nov 30, 2023 -- Zach, from JMS, just replaced an old-fashioned, pull-chain toilet for us -- and a condensate pump on our furnace. (Actually said as much back when we used them in 2019 -- below -- but somehow that review never went live!)-------------------------------------------------------------Today (Jan 31, 2019) -- with the Midwest and Northeast experiencing record subzero temps -- JMS basically saved the day! We woke up in our Cortland Victorian to find our house temp had dropped to 43 deg. Tried to find/light the pilot on our gas furnace (turns out its electric start, so no pilot per se); when that failed, we called a regional hvac company who gave us a guilt trip and brush-off till tomorrow for not being on their annual maintenance contract... So we called JMS (local, family-owned shop) who came within 45 mins, quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem as a burned out inducer, tracked one down in Syracuse (and immediately drove to/from to pick it up!), & got us up and running again right after lunch/3 hours later. Mike (the m in JMS) was super friendly, sharp, knew his stuff, a polite young man, and quick...the latter being really important because we were freezing (despite electric heaters and a wood fire) and the next dominoe to fall might have been frozen pipes (thankfully I remembered to keep them dripping). Bottom line, we experienced great and knowledgeable service at a critical time! Call JMS if you want the same... No joke: We cant thank them enough!

    JMS called me back the day I called they asked about the problem, set up appointment next day, they were here on time. listened to our concerns, checked out the problem, very considerate, went right to work, fixed the detached kitchen drain and cleared a bad spot in the line. Very little disruption, finished, picked up area. Checked to be sure all was working well. Zakery did a very good job, we recommend this Co. to anyone/everyone. thank you!

    JMS is a fantastic local business. They have installed and/or fixed many things at my home. And in fact, they have had to fix a few things in my house that had been done by other professionals in the area. That being said, they are my #1 go to Plumbing/Heating business in Cortland. They are thorough, professional, and speedy, and they employ Master Plumbers, who have received thorough training, and that is another big plus. If you have not tried calling them in the past, you should definitely put them on your list for your next repair. And if all that didnt convince you, they are also very reasonably-priced, and friendly!

    Our furnace was not acting correctly, and it was a bit of mystery but Kevin from JMS solved it pretty quickly and with a new thermostat we now have heat! We also learned a lot. We will definitely be repeat customers for HVAC servicing, etc.

    Saturday 9am no water JMS came over 11am stayed till 4:30 till it was fixed, sadly it was not a quick fix but they diligently found the problem with several trips back to the shop but they were determined to get us water. We so appreciate their commitment to the job. Thank you to the 2 young men who will allow us to shower tomorrow.
