John J. did some remodeling and finishing on our house (removing a dropped ceiling, moving some doorways, installing a stove and some fans and lighting) over this past summer. John and his crew were terrific -- capable, attentive to quality, friendly and responsive. My family and I are very happy with how the work turned out. -

John J. Contracting recently did a great job renovating several aspects of our house: replacing attic insulation, ripping out old carpet and installing bamboo flooring, removing old drop ceiling tiles and replacing with drywall, and repairing damaged walls. Johnny worked with us to prioritize our wishlist of home repairs into a project we could afford, preparing multiple quotes and spending time talking through our ideas/concerns. The whole crew was on time daily for the work, and was thoughtful/communicative throughout the project. Our new floors and ceiling look great, and the attic is now properly insulated. We have worked with John J. Contracting before (to replace wood siding and other exterior work) and hope to work with them again when we are ready to remodel our bathroom. -

Johnny and his crew are an amazing contracting company. They recently replaced my roof and deck, rebuilt outdoor stonewalls, and custom build a birch soundproof door for my loft. Johnny was around all the time, working, supervising and handling building permits. Johnny is a real pro, with extensive technical knowledge about building materials, techniques, and finishes. And he is not only extremely capable and dependable, but very amiable. I looked forward to seeing him and his crew every day when they were working for me! I whole heartedly recommend his company. -

I asked Johnny to help my parents with their dryer. They were so impressed they wrote this note:I want to thank your company and your workers for fixing our dryer so quickly and professionally.Within 35 minutes our dryer was fixed and cleaned and in good working order. First, you moved the dryer away from the wall so work could begin. Your worker began with clean ing out the duct and hose. That was followed with clean ing the pieces that were cvlogged. Then your worker went outside to clean the pieces outside because they were filled with lint.Boy, that was a surprise; in a short period and time the work was done quickly and completed in good time. Johnny and his team did three projects for us in one go. They renovated our unfinished basement, did work in our garage bringing the utility room up to code, and installed a dishwasher in our kitchen. He is easy to talk to, collaborative, and has a ton of ideas for every aspect of a job. When something we wanted to do wasnt practical or would blow past our budget, he let us know and gave us an alternative.For the basement, he and his team transformed a sad unfinished space with a bare concrete floor and exposed studs into a beautiful mixed-use basement. Its wonderful and we love it. They added new walls and insulation, painted the ceiling (exposed beams and joists), constructed a new large office, installed new windows and a storm door, new flooring, new lighting and switches, and new stairs that lead to the main floor. The work was meticulous and efficient. There were a couple hiccups along the way but Johnny was easy to talk to and he always had several solutions ready so everything was resolved quickly and the work kept moving forward. That expertise is invaluable. And the whole project was finished on schedule and within our budget. When the time is right, well be calling Johnny for future work. -

I can not thank Johnny and his crew enough for their amazing work at my house. My infant son had elevated lead levels so we immediately started searching for a contractor to come test different areas in the house. John responded immediately to our phone call and was able to come within the week to take a look. He discovered the paint near our mud room was old lead paint. He understood how concerned we were and was able to fit the job in right away . His crew was very cautious and followed all safety protocols for lead removal while working.I would highly recommend to anyone! -

This past spring I hired Johnny and his professional team to take an uninsulated rough garage separate from the main house and turn it into a rec-room / studio / extra space for year round use. I expected a simple finish and ended up with what I would call a finished apartment quality living space that wont get used that way, but boy is it terrific. That reflects the basic quality Johnny goes for. No corners cut, no compromises, and done to his finishing opinion... which is a thing of beauty. Im very happy and hope to tap his expertise and taste further in the future. -

I used Johnny for three jobs. One was replacing all of the supports for my built-in, 100-yr-old gutters. He made pressure treated ones that matched the existing ones and replaced the rotten ones. The second was repairing my front porch wooden steps. There were rotten boards and a rotten hand rail as well as some rotten porch flooring. The last was replacing a rotten window sill and some trim near my gutters.Johnny is a very friendly, conscientious person who is easy to communicate with. He will show up at the agreed times with an adequate crew to get the job done.He came highly recommend by the painting contractor I used to paint the exterior of my house this year. The paint job was fantastic and everyone loves the painter, so you know he is only going to recommend a carpenter who is one of the best.I would highly recommend working with Johnny. I cant really speak to the price, as I havent had much work like this done, but I felt the price was fair.The bottom line is that you will get an honest person who is easy to communicate with and who will show up when he is supposed to and finish the job with a high level of skill. If you are not satisfied, I guarantee he will work with you to remedy the situation above and beyond what almost any other carpenter would do.I would recommend Johnny to any of my close friends without a second thought. -

I called John and asked if he could take a look at some damage done to the fascia on my house due to a recent storm. John came to my house on the same day and surveyed the damage and explained what he could do to repair. We then set up a time for him to come back to complete the repairs. John is professional, prompt, communicates and does great work. The repairs were completed and everything looks new. I highly recommend John and will certainly ask him to work on projects for my home in the future. Thanks John! -

We’ve hired Johnny for a number of projects - a new deck with hot tub, new flooring, finishing a basement/installing sump pump and we plan to hire him for a big renovation project (hoping he can fit us in!) He and his team are very good at what they do. Johnny is an honest, hard-working person who is highly skilled and also super cool and fun to be around. Highly recommend!!! -
