    I love my fireplace facelift (& accent kitchen wall) and I loved working with this crew!! Such attention to detail. Colin gives an estimate and an outline of a schedule before the work even starts. (very reasonable!!) He sent me pictures of barn wood (to be repurposed for a floating mantlepiece), various wood at the warehouse and other things for visual assistance. Very communicative! Would even STOP at places during construction, where we could talk it out & I could make decisions. He gave me time to find the perfect stain (yes I went through 10 variations, because the light outside, the light in the garage-turned-into-workshop, and the lighting in my house are very different). But I think what I loved most was at the end of the day, they cleaned up!!, swept (I swept with them) and returned my living space back into space I could live in. Love that!!! Will definitely work with them on other projects for upgrading my older home. (project work: tile work in kitchen, fireplace facelift and wooden beam across the ceiling)

    Colin and his crew were all fantastic and we would happily work with them again in the future.We hired Grey Star for a pretty big renovation project on a home we recently brought: replacing around 30 windows with new custom wood windows, replacing all our old siding with new cedar siding, and painting all the siding. They did a fantastic job in every regard and even our neighbors were impressed with them. We are so glad we hired them.Colin was easy to communicate with, the crew was careful and polite, they were trustworthy, and they took pride in their work. We definitely give them 5 out of 5 stars for every aspect of the job. I have nothing but positive things to say regarding our experience with Colin and all of the Grey Star crew.

    Colin has handled three projects for me in the past three years: A 9-foot solid American cherry mantel built to my design (see photo); some general carpentry that included the challenging installation of a new kitchen vent and hood; and the renovation and reconstruction of a nondescript 20-year-old deck into a structure far more striking and useful.If you care about design and workmanship (and I do), Grey Star is a great option. Its not cheap, but worthwhile: Colin and his crew work deliberately and carefully to deliver an excellent result. And if theres a glitch, you can depend on Colins commitment to make it right.Ive recommended Grey Star to others, and I certainly recommend it to you.

    We had Colin & his business partner Garret install a fireplace mantle for my wife and I. They did a great job! Colin recommended purchasing our lumber from NC Hardwood near Burlington, amazing supplier of a variety of unique hardwoods. We bought extra lumber and Colin cut & glued pieces together and made us a small table top. They did an incredible job, easy to work with and very attention to detail. we highly recommend them!

    I have known Colin for a number of years. He has always been a very honest and dependable man. He is one of the few true craftsmen currently doing work in the triangle area. He has a very extensive, traditional background and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to each of his customers. This allows him to provide solutions that other, less experienced contractors, would never be able to give. If you need some top notch, high quality custom work done, I couldnt recommend anyone else. No matter what you may need done, Colin and Grey Star Woodworks will get it done right the first time, every time.

    Grey Star did a kitchen remodel: new cabinets and appliances, including extending a soffit and electrical work installing an exhaust. Colin and all his crew are intelligent, easy to work with and attentive to detail. You will not worry that something is not going to be done right when Grey Star is performing the work. They are also very flexible with timing, our counters were delayed but they worked into their schedule so we did not get unduly delayed further. Beautiful, rock solid work! When we do our bathroom we will call them.

    I had a very unique and detailed passive solar greenhouse project to handle. I had an idea written on a piece of paper when I showed it to Colin. He helped me make it a reality. His prices are fare, his work is top notch, he stayed on schedule, and it was nice to see his interest and excitement to be doing a project that was a little different then most. My wife and I we’re so impressed with his work that we have used greystar in all of our projects since. Colin and crew has replaced flooring in our home, and has redone our front porch and back deck. If he sees an issue he is honest about what needs to be done and has not under quoted price which is appreiciated. This is my first google review, but I have been so impressed with this small local company that I felt I had to write an honest review about a great company, good man, and awesome father. I highly recommend greystar for any project you have.

    I used Colin and his crew to repair some rot (more than anticipated) on the back of my house. I found the company through several recommendations from my neighborhood on Nextdoor.com. Great crew of people, keen to please and do a quality job, This was a way better personal experience than I am use to getting from the average contractor. I would gladly use again

    We recently used Grey Star WoodWorks for a bathroom remodel, and I was incredibly pleased with every step of the process. The tile work was meticulous, and looks wonderful. They also did a great job of refurbishing the original vanity that we wanted to keep. I highly recommend and will use this company in the future.

Trustworthy and straightforward, he conducts his business with professionality and a great sense of urgency. He not only will build you a deck but he also crafts beautiful jewelry and brilliant cutting boards.
