    It took me less than 2 minutes of discussion with Ripcord’s owner, Chris to realize that he’s a straight-shooter … and was confirmed throughout all our subsequent interactions. He’s a tell-it-like-it-is type of person … even if it’s something you wish you didn’t have to hear.The bottom line is that they do good work.The event that brought Ripcord out was a hail storm that hammered our roof & aluminum siding. We’re very pleased with what they did. His crew is much more professional & respectful that what I tend to observe & overhear in other crews.One thing that stands out to me is the way Chris handled the unforeseen items that arose when addressing a house that’s over 130 years old. Chris had no propensity to jump on opportunities to milk us for extra. He was obviously more interested in restricting his scope to what we needed & wanted, rather than stretching things out. (This helped him stick to his timing projections with other customers too.)If you’re looking for the lowest-dollar contractor, I suspect Ripcord won’t be first choice. They genuinely care about doing a good job without skimping. From my conversations with Chris, I have a strong sense that in the end, they will make sure to satisfy you (as they did for us). Their focus is on maintaining a good reputation rather than in cutting corners or milking customers for add-on work.

    Ripcord performed a number of services for us. We had our siding replaced, new deck and had it relocated, new slider and windows in its place, new floors which makes our home look awesome, and a new bathroom which is gorgeous 😍. We found through this that the company was extremely thorough. Upon removing the siding they found the original builder failed to wrap our windows which created mold mildew and wet osb. It also created a health issue.. Chris took the time to explain and corrected this issue.. there is so much good to say about them.. I would HIGHLY recommend Ripcord Construction.

    Ripcord just replaced the roof on my home. Great guy to work with and super nice work crew. They took the time to make sure everything was protected while they tore the old roof off. New roof looks great! Yard was cleaned up like nobody had been there when the job was done. Chris has great communication and makes sure you are informed and satisfied at every step of the process. They did a GREAT JOB! I Definitely recommend to anybody. Thank you Ripcord!!!

    Very satisfied with the entire process from speaking to Chris about what I wanted done to finish. The crew that did the work was friendly, and cleaned up afterwards.     I have had a great experience here. I’m calling around looking for estimates for a new roof, Ripcord Construction was the only one that actually picked up the phone. Within a day, I had an appointment, an estimate, and someone who will be doing my roof! While in the store, I found out they do decks, kitchens, and much more! Can’t wait to get the roof done so I can move on to my kitchen and now I already have someone to do it. Highly recommend!

    They did a great job and were extremely helpful. Their work is very efficient. First they sealed what was likely causing a leak, only to find out later that an unseen clip was poking through a shingle (so the leak continued the next time it stormed). They came back right away, found the real problem quickly, and fixed it first thing the next day.We appreciate the quality work and would recommend.

    We just had the roof on our home redone by Ripcord. When we initially called the company it was almost the end of the business day, but we still received a call that evening from Chris to set up an assessment. Chris came to our home the next day, he assessed our roof, and gave us a quote. He was very honest and upfront with us through the entire process and had a great line of communication with us as well. His crew was great and they seemed highly dedicated! They worked hard from the time they got to our home until the time they left. We cannot thank Chris and his crew enough for the hard work they put in, and we will absolutely give them a call in the future if the need arises!

    Ripcord Construction is an amazing company to work with! They were extremely helpful and quickly responded to my situation that could have easily become catastrophic to my home. I called a Ripcord representative on Monday at a late hour of this week and my job was completely started and finished in less than 24 hours of my emergency call. My roof had been extremely damaged and I needed the problem to be handled ASAP. I sent them pictures of the roofing repair I needed done and they came completely prepared with all of the proper materials and got straight to work first thing the next morning. By Tuesday night my roof was completely fixed and I no longer have the worry of if it will cave today or leak. My roof looks perfect now and I have total peace of mind. The contractor who handled my job was extremely professional and knowledgeable and all of the workers were quick, smart, and very capable. I would highly recommend this company to anyone having home problems, they will help you and take your burden on quickly. I will definitely be using them for any construction or home remodel/repair services in the future. 11/10!

    Ripcord construction, AKA John Hoar, was recommended by a neighbor of mine who had a successful project with this company. I had asked for quotes in a beach area by a couple of contractors but they were not apples to apples. One company only wanted to do a house wrap and new vinyl siding, which I did not want to do wanting to use sustainable materials. Ripcord construction came in and gave me another quote for my project which substantially increased the scope and cost of the project. I have to give this company praise because not everybody would tackle a project like this.Not everybody wants to work on a beach house because of issues of structure and water. Ultimately the entire exterior was removed along with insulation which was spotty due to settling mostly. My contractor helped me to find materials that were agreeable and installed all new Anderson windows. None of this included repairing interior areas since this was discussed as being maybe a further project down the road. We found many issues of water, not from being close to water, but because of previous improvements. We discovered rotted studs and rotted window frames almost every single window. My $65,000 project had two $10,000 change orders with an ultimate cost of $85,000 including materials. Our home is three stories and roughly 1,500 ft². We used metal siding which worked out well and looks great holding up to the weather on the western shore of Lake Erie.Ripcord Construction did partner with another construction company for the talent to install metal siding. The partnership worked very well for the most part. My advice would be definitely do an apple to apple comparison of cost. Additionally, I would require in the contract that the general contractor be present everyday a crew is there (no matter how small) at the beginning and at the end of each day, I would require better clean up at the end of each work day, and communication on a weekly basis with my contractor. I would also make it clear that there is an end date required for any project and to have a legal contract, which we did.At the end of the day, although I had issues with communication with my general contractor, the job really did turn out very well and Im very pleased. He added in a couple of items for safety that really put a nice cap on the project.
