    Taylor came on time and was truly awesome. He worked on some plumbing issues for my mother. When I arrived at my mom’s home, he thoroughly explained his findings and was extremely patient with my talkative 91-year old mother. Shipley Plumbing immediately placed an order for additional parts and contacted me right away to schedule another appointment. Their prices are fair and reasonable and workmanship well done.     Chris came by to talk about replacing old pipes in an older home I just purchased.     Electric Water Heater replacement: The team offered a competitive quote (I solicited three bids) and the tech took the time to go through options considering my value on reliability and energy efficiency. They were available to do the work shortly after the bid. Team showed up on time, was efficient during install, did a clean job, and answered all of my questions. Im happy with the new system, but only two days in at the moment.

    I found them through the Montgomery County recommendations book. This is the second time that I have used them and I wont be using anyone else down the line. Chris, Adam and the office staff stayed on top of everything, were flexible with a few extra tasks and accommodated my schedule over multiple visits. Chris came up with a creative solution to a puzzling problem that could have been expensive and disruptive in less experienced hands. Very pleased.

    Shipley installed my 65 gallon hot water heater tank which has lasted over 20 years until it broke and leaked water on a Saturday. We left a message on their emergency line and got a call back right away. The gentleman on the phone told us that they wouldn’t be able to come to fix until Monday but helped explain what to do with the leaking tank in the meantime. Chris and his assistant arrived promptly Monday morning. They were very knowledgeable and explained in detail the current options of available 50 & 80 gallon replacement tank as well as possible mixing valve addition for faster hot water recovery time. As a current empty nester couple in a 4 bedroom house, we chose the 50 gallon PVC tank with lifetime warranty but decided to hold off on the mixing valve since it can be added later. We were so amazed how efficiently the work got done including the time that they had to go pick up a new tank from a warehouse. The total amount of time was less than 2 hours including the extra task of moving out existing expansion tank to a better location.It’s nice to see a company that stays around for a long time, able to maintain high level professional staff and do good work. We are glad to have contacted them first when we saw the company’s sticker they left on the tank.

    Lost our hot water heater over the weekend. Chris came over first thing Monday morning and had a new heater installed by 11 am. We now have a PVC tank with a lifetime warranty. The last water heater (also Shipley) was installed 20+ years ago. He upgraded everything to meet the new codes (for no extra charge). Terrific service and a pleasure to work with!

    They were helpful in finding the most effective solution to fixing my heat pump. Instead of just replacing a major part in my old heat pump for just a little more they found a new and more efficient heat pump unit to replace my outside unit. Ron advised me how to contact WSSC and came as promised to visit the house. He took careful measurements, identified issues that I needed to be aware of and suggested options. He followed up with a very fair estimate.My selling contract was modified and I didnt have to cure the problem myself. Even though I did not engage his services, he was very gracious about it. Ron answered the phone almost on the first ring when I called this a.m. They said they take water heater emergencies very seriously and mine had cracked so water was all over the floor. They do charge a $75 transportation fee which is taken off the estimate if you use them. Highly recommend and I would definitely keep them in mind for future jobs!

    Great service and very professional. I had asked for the shutoff valve to be replaced due to a leaking seal. The staff member inspected, cleaned up, and was able to show me that this model had a secondary nut that he tightened and fixed it. He could have just replaced it at a higher cost, but instead, he did the right thing and explained everything.Great job!

    Both technicians Taylor and Ben were very nice and informative and explained to me what procedures they were going to do to resolve the leak in my tub. They even installed a tank repair kit for me that I had at my home even though that wasnt the primary reason for them coming to my house. They did not have a cover for the over flow drain on their truck the day of the repair. Taylor told me he would return the following day which he did. I appreciate Shipley Plumbing sending me a text an email and then a phone call letting me know the technicians were on their way. I understand why they are a 5 star rated company with Montgomery County. Both techs asked if I had any other questions or concerns and I did have a question about another toilet tank. They sent a technician within a few hours who assessed our plumbing and found a few leaky toilets. He got us some parts and fixed one toilet. We told him wed take care of the other (easier) fixes, and he gave us advice on how to check our toilet flappers every two years to ensure we didnt have more leaks. Friendly and competent. My only complaint is that the technician didnt remind me about coupons during our visit! We had to call after our visit to get one of our coupons applied.

    1) Shipley really stands behind quality of their work. Building needed a gas pilot replacement on a very old furnace with hard to find parts. The first replacement part failed within one week. The owner himself got involved and ensured timely turnaround and a second service call was completed to our satisfaction. No charge for second visit.2) Originally hired a major company with initials CM to do airconditioning maintenance. UV light failure diagnosis resulted in recommendation to replace the entire UV light system for $1600. Called Shipley and a technician came out who really knows diagnostics: analysis -- a fixture fuse box failure. Shipley ordered the part, did installation -- a fraction of the cost.These guys are not about up-selling but providing quality service for a reasonable price. They are technically very competent in their respective areas of specialization -- so the HVAC chap probably is not going to be dealing with a drain clearance issue (my only disappointment). That is hardly a downside when the technicians are rock solid.3) Called Shipley to ask about doing a special vent job for a long feed to a dryer. The firm was honest about its capabilities here and offered to refer me to another firm that specialized in these difficult installations.In summary, Shipley has a great deal of integrity, does excellent work and stands behind its services. I just hope that the firm does not become too busy -- resulting in service delays.

    Bryan, our Plumber, just left our house and with the memories fresh in my mind I wanted to jot down my impressions. Our need for a plumber was serious. Yesterday, Christmas night, just before we were about to leave for dinner at a friends house, my wife went down to the Utility Room in our Basement. As she walked down the stairs an immediate sense of fear hit her. Our Basement was beginning to flood with water. Turns out our Hot Water Heater just broke. For the next several hours, after turning off the main water switch to the house, we did everything possible to clear the water using a Wet/Dry Vac.With the water under control, our job was now to find a good plumber who would come out first thing in the morning. My wife called her cousin in Baltimore who owns a plumbing business (Bruce Solomon Plumbing). Bruce highly recommended Shipley Plumbing.His recommendation was spot on. Shipley Plumbing sent Bryan to our home. He arrived on time, was clean cut, very courteous and professional, sympathetic to the problems we faced and highly competent. After examining the Hot Water Heater and several other projects we had for him, and agreeing on costs, he got down to work. He and a colleague by the name of Hector worked their tails off for the next six or seven hours to accomplish the numerous tasks. We had more work done than we initially thought but when you find a reliable tradesman, you have him do what is necessary.Bryan and Hector methodically went through each and every project. Along the way they kept us informed of what was happening and when water service would be restored to the house. When everything was finished, Bryan walked us through the work which had been done and answered any questions we might have. They also cleaned up the area they worked leaving it cleaner than it was when they started. This is a mark of a dedicated tradesman and a company that really cares about making a good impression and meeting the needs of their customers. These attributes are not what you typically find. Based on this and other instances in which Bryan/Hector and Shipley performed, I gave them Five Stars. Im a tough cookie and have high standards. Shipley Plumbing met those standards with a smile on. But when the refrigerator was delivered there was a copper pipe coming out of the wall behind the fridge and connected it to the old fridge.
