Nelson Electric staff did some electrical work on our house. They explained our options and provided good solutions for our old house electric problems. Although the walls and ceiling are lath and plaster, they did the work with no need for fixing or cleanup. Their fees were reasonable. They were professional, punctual, and very pleasant to talk to. We highly recommend Nelson Electric.

I cannot say enough excellent things about Nelson Electric. They have taken care of installing lighting, fans, electric car chargers and many, many other electric needs over the past 27 years for our home. Today Martin and Jason came and took care of a major issue with our fire alarm system inappropriately going off. Always polite, professional and pleasant. Highly recommend!!

Weve had Nelson Electric technicians out for multiple jobs and theyve always delivered the job in a timely manner with quality work. This time we did a much larger project (moving of outlets, installation of new outlets and install of new light fixtures) and once again they delivered excellent work in a timely fashion.I should also mention that their scheduling service is straight forward, they do reliable quotes and their technicians make sure to align with you on the project being performed.We think they are the best electricians in Ames.

Wow! Can I give them more stars?Our home was damaged from the early August storm in slater our town looked like a war zone.Called them to repair our powerline hookup. And they showed up THE NEXT DAY!I couldnt even get our insurance agent to show up this quickly. They had to run to the shop to grab some conduit which I failed to mention was damaged but came back and before I could turn around had us up to par for the energy company.Price was reasonable too.Was unable to catch the two guys names but during the week of the storm I was unable to get other services like tree, insurance, etc to show up so fast.KNOCKED IT OUTTA THE PARK!Youve gained a lifetime customer and your number on my fridge lolthank you thank you thank you

I contacted Matt at Nelson Electric through their website, he put me in touch with Mike the service Manager who came out to look at my situation. He sent me a quote later that day and scheduled a electrician to come out. Anout 10:30 am Sherry showed up for the appointment. She was very polite and professional, I left for work and when I came home for lunch, Sherry had completed the job, cleaned up and was gone. She added 3 breakers and 2 outlets. Im very satisfied with the work and experience. I would recommend Nelson Electric and would use them again in the future.

We brought in Nelson Electric to put in bathroom fans, recessed lighting in our living room, and to properly electrify our basement. Mike was attentive and answered our questions and Tim was on time and did a fantastic job. Will hire again when we need electrical work done.

Professional and courteous staff, showed up on-time (a few minutes early, actually), worked efficiently, and removed all boxes, old devices, etc. when they completed the work. This project was replacing/installing three new ceiling fans but have previously used them to add a new circuit to our living room, trouble-shoot possible coax cable issues, and other smaller projects.
